Sounds like things haven't changed at the park. I was there in 2003 and in 1997 and both trips were horrible. 1 train ops on almost everything, high prices and bad operations. As much as I want to ride Dominator and Avalanche, I don't think I'll be going back anytime soon.

What about adults at the park without kids, why shouldn't they be allowed to use them? I disagree with the whole policy. -

When I got to the park on Tuesday, it looked like they were working on the LIMS and while in line for Laser, I saw some workers with a mini cherry picker near the track. -

I wish they would have done the wristbands for Coasters After Dark at Great Adventure. The park was closed the day of the event (Physics Day) and the event was 5 - 10. They let the schools who wanted to, stay for Coasters After Dark even though Physics Day ended at 6. Lines were still very short but it would have been nice to really have it exclusive to SP holders. -

Best and Worst Log Flumes
YoshiFan replied to gldude's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Best: Splash Mountain at WDW and Zoom Phloom at Morey's (it's about 7 minutes, 2 drops and goes under the boardwalk with a mini dark ride portion) Worst: Shendoah Log Flume (King's Dominion) -
Interesting article about lap bars...
YoshiFan replied to DBru's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
In some cases it makes the ride experience better. Both Hershey's and Great Adventure's Arrow Mine Trains got rid of the single lap bar to individual bars and it makes it much more comfortable for taller riders. I no longer need to cross my legs to fit. -

I can't believe they weren't allowing re-rides during a special event (I also heard they don't allow re-rides during ERT sessions either). It gets fusturating having to walk through the empty queues for each ride at Dorney but I guess it's better than having to wait in a line. -
Great Park Operations
YoshiFan replied to denning's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Dorney: Always 2 trains on Talon and Hydra except for weather reasons, even on days when I was the only rider on the train they still ran 2 trains. Same for Steel Force though I have seen it run 1 train maybe 2 or 3 times in 40 trips. There are always 4 restraint checkers on Talon and Hydra and usually Steel Force as well and when Steel Force only has 2 restraint checkers they are so fast it doesn't matter. I rarely see much stacking at Dorney. Great Adventure: They always run multiple trains on Batman, Nitro and Medusa. I have seen them using 3 trains on Nitro, Medusa and GASM a lot this season even when it doesn't seem neccessary. They allow re-rides which saves a lot of time when you consider how long it takes to walk through some of the empty queue's especially Superman and Nitro. -
PTR: GADV 5/18 with some Rain!
YoshiFan replied to Josh Davidson's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ You should be ok with lines on either of those days. I went today and went on TDK twice, at 2:00 it was 30 minutes, 15 minutes before closing it was 10 minutes. Nitro, Batman, Medusa, GASM, Rolling Thunder, RMT were all under 5 minutes. -
Great Adventure or Cedar point
YoshiFan replied to Sephiroth77's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think CP is better for families. Great Adventure has 4 kids areas which all are nice but there is very little for people in between kiddie rides and big rides. There are also very few tame rides. Cedar Point has Space Spiral, 3 antique car rides, the Paddleboat, Bumper Cars and way more flats. -

Unfortunately Dorney's mouse is run worse. It's the same model and they frequently only run 4 cars and 2 are usually in the station with 1 waiting to go into the station. Plus with the added seatbelts and the rule of no more than 2 adults per car, it makes the line crawl. -
And it's nowhere near worth that price, even for a regular family especially since about half the attractions are water park type rides that you can't use all season (though they have them open even in the 60's), and many attractions are playground type ones with a handful of flats and the coaster thrown in.

Playland always has iffy operations early in the season. I'm not surprised the Python was closed but strange to see the Flitzer closed. Was the Runaway Train at Gillian's open or the park open at all? -

That's not good to hear, I still hope they manage to get it open this year but from what you said it doesn't sound like it. The park is now advertising 10 coasters so I had thought Laser would be open but not if it is having problems. -

2 hours for Steel Force I would have never expected that, was the line into the 2nd set of switchbacks? I just can't believe it but I guess with 1 train it kills the capacity. Laser is supposed to open by the end of the month. Everyone thought it would be gone this year, it was even left out of the rider guide in 2 spots which seems more than a mistake but the ride will be open at least for this season. I am also not happy to hear about the rain shutting down the coasters. Yeah there was some heavy rain today but it didn't last for that long and didn't seem that bad most of the day (not great perfect walking around weather but it didn't seem to strong). At least you had the chance to get walk ons later in the day. -

Sounds like waits were horrible for a weekday in May. 90 minutes - 2 hour waits are very bad considering it's so early in the season. I know it was the opening of TDK and Student Council Day with 4,000 students and some other event but I would have never guessed lines were that bad. Kingda Ka is not worth 2 hours, neither is Superman at 90 minutes (but I don't think either is worth more than 15 minutes) Glad to see you enjoyed Nitro, I think it's the best coaster at the park. Hopefully you'll have better luck with lines tomorrow at Dorney. -
Horrible Park Operations
YoshiFan replied to pgathriller's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Dorney: 2 adults per car maximum on the Wild Mouse and the added seatbelts. Capacity is around 200 an hour with those rules. Laser, assigned seating even if you are the only one on the train and added seatbelts which slow loading Thunderhawk: trim on the bunny hills Hershey: 1 train only on each side of LR, even on some days when the line is down to the ramp Great Adventure: only opening water rides seasonally, Medusa not opening until 12:00 -

It's a full day's worth of rides, if there are lines. It's just when you want a break from the coasters, there isn't much else to do. I am worried this summer lines are going to be bad because there isn't a huge selection of rides like there was. The good news is that operations have really been great this year. I have been to the park 4 times this season and Nitro, Medusa and GASM have been running 3 trains except when there are no crowds and they go to 2 trains. I would have liked to met up at Dorney but I have work all weekend Also, if you are trying to get all the credits at Dorney, go to the mouse first if you get there at opening. They have a rule of no more than 2 adults per car, and they added seatbelts so the line crawls. Last week there were maybe 50 people in line and it was close to a 20 minute wait. Everything else should be a walk on -

Which is horrible considering they removed a ton of rides from GADV this offseason and for a park with around 10 non coaster non kiddie rides, closing 2 flats in Old Country is ridiculous -

^ That's what I was thinking when reading the post, you could probably get $30 for it on EBay easily. -
I have every Tony Hawk game in the main series except for Proving Ground and I was dissapointed with Project 8. It's an ok game, but some the difficulty balance is way off. Each goal has 3 levels, the first one is always very easy, the middle one is somewhat easy and the last one is almost impossible. Some of the objectives are also very fusturating. I wouldn't pay more than $20 for it. For racing games, all I have is Ridge Racer 7. It's a fun game especially if you are a fan of the series but it's kind of repetitive.
