  1. Good to hear, I remember seeing this sign and thought it was still closed.: http://www.amusementpics.com/SFGANotesSpring08/040508-190.jpg I have been to the park 4 times so far this season and have yet to see it run so I figured it hadn't opened for the season so it's nice that they have been running it, at least a little. Hopefully I'll catch it open before Memorial Day.
  2. The log flume and congo rapids only operate from Memorial Day to Labor Day now. I can understand the rapids but the log flume should have been open by now especially with it getting into the 70's on many days.
  3. The only thing that seems to be different this year is that with all the ride removals, lines for the coasters are getting longer than normal. Superman was almost up to the inside entrance of the line, on a weekday in April! Even GASM was close to the switchbacks. To avoid the food pricing, I go to WaWa and eat before I go into the park, doesn't work so well if you are getting there at opening but it saves me quite a few dollars ($6 or so for a hoagie, chips and a soda versus around $12 for the same food in the park), especially with it being almost weekly trips for now.
  4. Great American Scream Machine around 3 hours ago
  5. ^ Are you sure it was 11:30? I was at the ride at about 11:30 on that day and they wouldn't let anyone in as they said it doesn't open until 12:00. I rode RMT and went back at around 11:50 and they started letting people line up outside the queue. I was the 4th person in line and got out on the first public train of the day a little after 12:00, we saw employees riding while we were waiting
  6. Agreed. Like when BTR at GADV assigned rows, row 2 was flashpass (now it merges. So if you want the front row and don't buy a flashpass, you could end up waiting in a line hours long if people keep coming up with a flashpass.
  7. Hershey got a modern Whip in 1997, it's made by Rideworks and uses cars similar to the new Tilt A Whirl cars. It's not as intense as the one at Dorney and has a ratcheting lap bar that only the opeartor can release with a foot pedal compared to the old ones that you lift up yourself.
  8. No, they stay the same price all day Medusa doesn't open until 12 now, this may or may not change after Memorial Day, Houdini is closed for the season, the Log Flume is closed until Memorial Day (it was 75 and humid last Saturday and would have been nice to ride)
  9. If fire was a concern, I'd hate to see a repeat of the Haunted Castle at GADV even though the situations were different
  10. I filled up today for $3.27 a gallon, crazy that one gas station a minute from my house is $3.49 and 2 minutes away it's $0.22 less a gallon. It's amazing that less than 10 years ago, I remember being in NJ and seeing 88 cents a gallon and then on the drive to WDW, I remember seeing 72 cents a gallon in GA. Now, even $2.00 would seem like a deal.
  11. ^^ Soft Pretzels also went up to $5.99 from $4.99. Butterfly Fries are now $6.99. And new this year is Vitamin Water for $4.00 a bottle. The value deal went up to $149.99 from $99.99. It included admission, flashpass and I think a meal or two plus a game.
  12. Gulliver's Warrington has a policy of no adults being admitted without a kid I am surprised that parks and FEC's have these policies and that they would be willing to lose business because of it. Especially because FEC's aren't just for kids and usually have arcade games and mini golf, batting cages that adults also like. Sesame Place doesn't have that policy though I kind of feel funny going there (last time I was there was when I was 17 since one of my relatives used to be Elmo there and gave us free tickets)
  13. Agreed, I like water parks but I don't like them crowded in the middle of a park. They should have made it seperate like WWK at Dorney, away from the rides or made it a seperate gate like at Great Adventure. I hated the Boardwalk especially East Coast Waterworks (too crowded, pushing and shoving, badly organized), and worse of all it didn't have the "Dorney effect" of walk ons for coasters while the water park is crowded.
  14. Sounds kind of crowded at least earlier on in the day especially if SDL was 15 minutes. Were they running multiple trains on everything?
  15. I really hope they don't get rid of the Canyon River Rapids. They should have known they wouldn't have had enough room for a waterpark in that small area and built it away from the rides area, now they are trying to fit too much in and we are going to be losing rides.
  16. Mindbender is one of the coasters I really want to try. It looks like such a great ride. Sooperdooperlooper is my #1 steel coaster and Mindbender looks even better.
  17. I don't think there ever was a part 6 as it has always said it's coming soon. I saw this over a year ago and it was very scary especially if the parts about the chained doors really did happen
  18. Looks like they are expecting the zip lines to be popular with those switchbacks. That is probably going to be a huge wait with only 3 riders at a time (or is it more than that with multiple riders on each zip line?)
  19. It looks like after May 26th, they might charge extra for the Premium upgrade. I got this in an e-mail: "Plus when you purchase and process by May 26, we'll upgrade you to a Premium Season Pass for free! Premium Passholder Benefits Include: • Value book worth over $300 in park values including five bring-a-friend-free tickets for use on select dates • Access to exclusive events like Rise & Scream and Coasters After Dark • Enjoy more than 1,200 exotic animals in the Six Flags Wild Safari • UNLIMITED visits to all Six Flags Parks " I read on another site that Rise and Scream isn't happening this year so it's strange they would mention that. They probably won't have any deals on the day of Coasters After Dark either since it's a private event during the day and the park is closed to everyone else.
  20. Yeah I remember that time as well where Laser was considered the big thrill ride at the park since it went upside even in the early and mid 90's after Hecrules was built What is also strange about the whole 10 coasters is that even in the 2007 brochure they said they had 8 coasters, so it was likely either Little Laser or Dragon coaster wasn't counted but now they are counting it.
  21. Same with me, I will probably be in Orlando this summer or in December, I have never been to IoA and without Dueling Dragons, I really don't want to visit even though the Hulk looks like a cool coaster as well.
  22. I think VooDoo will make the line for Laser longer and I hope Dorney accounts for that. The seatbelts added last year hurt the capacity especially since most of the time it was 1 attendant checking the whole train. Even a 3 train wait turned into 15 minutes easily. I also hope you are right about it staying, especially since CF is now advertising Dorney has 10 coasters and you would think they'd want to keep advertising double digit coasters.
  23. I went in 2006 on a Saturday, the day before Easter. It was warm out and since admission was so cheap it was jammed. Storm Runner had a full queue and the line was overflowing onto the midway, Great Bear was 45 minutes, Sooperdooperlooper's line was down the stairs and into the switchbacks below (something I have never seen before), Comet's line was into 2 overflow switchbacks. It was horrible. I was planning to go last year on Easter Sunday since it's supposed to be dead on Easter but the 30's and high winds (with only Comet and SDL running), stopped me from going. Since it's not a holiday weekend, it may not be that crowded. Plus it's also Great Adventure's opening weekend which might take away some of the crowds.
  24. It's one of the coasters they run for the hotel ERT before the park opens everyday so it is already crowded at opening, it's the first coaster people see when they enter the park and it has low capacity (the park's site says 830 an hour optimal capacity). Plus it has a low height requirement so it's popular with families.
