  1. Sounds like it was very crowded for a weekday. I guess El Toro closed made lines longer. It's a shame you weren't able to get to Dorney instead as lines would have not been nearly as bad. I went last Monday and all coasters were less than 5 minute waits except the Wild Mouse.
  2. If you are 14 or 15, you can't work past 7:00 p.m. on school nights and can't work more than 18 hours during the week in the school year. I'm not sure if that is national or just applies to our area.
  3. Pepsi cans offer $6 off, you need to look before you buy them though (if you bought them in a 12 pack, you can roll the can in the handle opening to see if it has the coupon) because some have Sesame Place discounts instead of Dorney. edit, I went to their webpage: Yes, discounts on admission are available throughout the 2008 season at various locations. Tickets During the Summer Season, discounted admission tickets are available for purchase at participating ACME Supermarkets. During the Summer Season, discounted admission tickets are available for purchase at participating Weis, Kings and Mr. Z's Supermarkets. During the Summer Season, admission tickets are available for purchase to AAA members at participating AAA offices. AAA discounts are NOT available in-person at the Park Entrance. Coupons Participating Subway, Dunkin Donuts and Taco Bell stores in June, Burger King in July and Wendy’s in August. The offer is $32.99 Mon-Fri (except holidays) and $34.99 for Sat & Sun and May 26, July 4 and Sept 1. Also find specially marked cans of Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Mountain Dew and Sierra Mist! --------- There is a Weis about a mile from the park, you go down Hamilton Blvd, go to Cedar Crest Blvd (I think that is the street name) and it is in Cedar Point Plaza (funny name considering it's so close to Dorney)
  4. A new Walmart Supercenter just opened up in my area 2 months ago, I'll have to see what color it is, I didn't know different colors are for different sized stores.
  5. I agree with your entire post. It was a halfway attempt at a waterpark and now they have to tear out other popular rides to try to make it a full scale waterpark.
  6. I agree about the Jersey Junkyard dark ride. I wasted 15 minute waiting for it 3 years ago. I don't think I would ride it again unless it was a walk on.
  7. How did Atlantic City make the list and not Ocean City NJ or Wildwood? Atlantic City's boardwalk is horrible. Tons of junk shops, people begging for money, Steel Pier is an overpriced carnival complete with the game vendors trying to get you to play (more than in a regular park) and food places I'd question to eat at. Ventnor's boardwalk is quiet and nice but the lack of anything makes it boring.
  8. On GeaugaLakeToday.com it has the auction prices. I think Double Loop went for $25,000
  9. I have always found these types of contests interesting. I would never have a chance, after 6 laps on Nitro last month without leaving my seat I was starting to feel a little sick, I can't imagine riding any coaster nonstop for more than an hour.
  10. I agree with those 2. Great White's drop out of the station is 50 feet, which is a nice size drop for the start of the ride.
  11. I wish they would just open the Golden Nugget on the pier its currently on It's $45 for a wristband on a normal day. The best deal is on Tuesday, they open at 12:30 and they sell a wristband for $20 that expires at 6:00. I considered getting a season pass but since I am under 26 it's $350! ($260 for anyone 26 and older). I'd have to visit 8 times at the regular price for it to pay for itself.
  12. I can't believe how long of a wait both mice coasters were in the park. I would have thought both would be shorter than 2 hour for 1 and 50 minutes for the other since they are so similar.
  13. Everyone runs to The Dark Knight and Kingda Ka at opening, I would get try to get those out of the way first and Superman since that always has a long, slow moving line. That and El Toro are the 4 coasters with the longest lines at the park. Medusa opens at 12:00, if possible get there right at 12 (or a few minutes early if there is a line of people waiting for it to open) so you can ride it without a wait.
  14. I can imagine responses would be bad for TDK after a 2 hour wait. At Great Adventure even when the wait is around 20 - 30 minutes, people still come through the exit saying how horrible it is and not to waste time waiting. I can't imagine waiting longer than that for it and won't wait longer than 15 minutes for it now (I try to ride just before closing to get an under 10 minute wait).
  15. It's probably because it's the first coaster you see from the entrance and it has a low capacity (Hershey says 830 an hour). It's my favorite wooden coaster but I only get to ride it once a trip usually because of the wait.
  16. Just another reason I hate the Boardwalk. What is the next ride to go for more stupid Boardwalk expansions. I am really angry at this decision. Everyone I told about this back when it was a rumor was not happy about it and felt Hershey was making a mistake. The Boardwalk should have been built away from the ride park like WWK is at Dorney or made a seperate gate. They tried to put too much in a small area and now it is at the expense of other attractions. The only positive thing about this is that it might help make coaster lines a little shorter but I don't think it will that much since last year I went on a slower day with the Boardwalk open and lines were still long, though that is also due to bad operations like only 1 train on each side of LR. It's funny how years ago I would say Hershey was my favorite park without hesitation, now I'm not so sure.
  17. Thanks, I'll try to watch some of them. I think I remember seeing one about William's Grove 2 - 3 years ago maybe on the same channel.
  18. I'm really surprised at the ride ratings given to the rides by CF. Pepsi Plunge a 5, Beaverland Mine Ride a 4? I guess it doesn't matter now. Sad to hear many of the coasters were purchased at the auction just to be scrapped
  19. Sounds like it was much more crowded than I would have expected since it seems kind of late in the year for school trips. I agree about the lockers, it slows down loading because people leave shoes on the side, then the ops ask everyone who left their shoes, then the people have to get out of the train to get their shoes, put them on and then the restraints have to be rechecked. Funny how Dorney allows loose articles and their coasters rarely stack yet with the lockers, I saw stacking and double stacking (though I have to get them credit for running 3 trains) on multiple coasters during my last 2 trips.
  20. That's messed up at Thunderhawk that they didn't let you ride. They aren't supposed to close the line until park closing and since you were in line at 7:25, they should have let you ride. Also not happy to see Hershey raised their parking from $8 to $10. I guess with SFGADV charging $15/$25, everyone else thinks they can raise prices as well
  21. Last Tuesday, Talon, Hydra, Steel Force and Thunderhawk were all walk ons, Laser was a 10 minute wait (Voodoo was closed). It still can get a line but that's due to the horrible capacity with a 2 train wait taking close to 10 minutes. What I think happened was someone was going to buy the ride last time it was up for sale last year. It was going to be removed from the park this year and that's why it wasn't in the rider safety guide (they left it out in 2 spots, which sounds like it wasn't an oversight). The deal fell through and that's also why the ride was ready for opening day since they had more work to do on the ride as they weren't expecting it to be at the park this year
  22. Agreed, I got my 7th ride today and this was the first time I noticed it was Batman firing from the truck. It's so fast and the light near him goes out so fast I only thought he was at that first hairpin turn I mentioned before. They really need to slow it down so you can see everything.
  23. If Batman is in the same spot as in Great Adventure's version, he's at the first hair pin turn and firing from the truck during the first big drop. I agree about the Dark Knight. It moves too fast to see anything and I have never seen the reaction so bad from people coming off the ride. I have been to Great Adventure 3 times since the ride opened and every time people are either yelling about how bad it was and not to waste the time in line or giving it a thubms down, literally. Looks like the ride is much more popular at SFGAM than SFGADV. Today at GADV, it was less than a 20 minute wait.
