  1. I thought if you are over 56", you can't ride that coaster unless you run to it first thing when the park opens and even there there is a chance you might get denied?
  2. I went to Atlanta in 2003, everyone said to check out the Underground, we stayed for about 15 minutes before we left. It was horrible.
  3. Sounds like they really need to get their act together with operations. 1 train with a 2 hour wait?! Manta is going to have ridiculous waits if they decide to operate that with 1 train considering how long it takes to load flyer trains and having to recheck rows (happens all the time on SUF)
  4. They have been using just 1 lane on that slide for years. When it has a line, it moves painfully slow. I don't understand why they don't get all the lanes operational especially since it was the original attraction for Morey's.
  5. Those pictures look just like my trip to Sea World Orlando in 2004. They actually had employees directing the flow of traffic in the park. It was horrible, you had to get to a show 1 1/2 - 2 hours early or you couldn't get in, Kraken was over an hour (I didn't ride as I wasn't riding big coasters then), Journey was 45 minutes but it was 55 out so I skipped it.
  6. I don't think it was ever $29.95. I checked the site a few weeks ago and it said $23.95. Very upsetting since I thought this was going to be my chance to marathon both those rides because I had planned to go on Easter Sunday which is supposedly a day when the park is empty. 6 out of 11 coasters closed is bad, especially because it was only cold in 2007. 2006 was warm (I wore shorts to the park) and last year I don't think it was cold either. Would have been nice to Rollersoaker operating without the water as well. I went on the day before Easter in 2006 and Midway America was opened but it was jammed. Storm Runner had a full queue (someone said it was 2 hours), Great Bear was 45 minutes, SDL's line was down the steps and in the lower level. If I still go, I guess I'll have to marathon SDL and Comet instead.
  7. That Hershey Kiss on the front of the car is somewhat new (maybe even new for this year?). It used to have the old park logo on it as shown here: http://www.rcdb.com/ig109.htm?picture=3
  8. The Dave and Buster's in Plymouth Meeting Mall uses the same system, they put the tickets on the card. The one thing I like about that better than paper vouchers is that they don't fade like the ones printed on thermal paper.
  9. I think any wild mouse in the world has better capacity than the one at Dorney. Even a line with 20 people can be close to 10 minutes.
  10. I thought they only allow re-rides if there is no line at all (rows going out empty). At Great Adventure they announce you are allowed to stay on if no one is waiting for your row even at Kingda Ka, or if someone is waiting for your row and move to another empty row they don't care.
  11. Amazing how much lower prices are for flashpass than at Great Adventure. For 1 person $34 vs $90 is a huge difference, 6 people for $129 versus $360 is also a huge difference. Even regular is $13 more for 1 person at Great Adventure. I remember it was posted to expect pricing similar to Great Adventure a while ago, I guess that isn't the case.
  12. I can't say I'm surrpised they closed today. At least they didn't decide to open and then close without notice like they did with Family Fall Fun Night at Great Adventure and are giving notice they are closed for tomorrow ahead of time. What happened was the park was open 5 - 10 for SP holders only. It had been raining all day and people called the park and we were told they would be open from the scheduled 5 - 10. Even at 6:00 someone called and said the park would be open until 10. They closed at 7:30 with the announcement made at 6:30. People who got to the park at 6:45 or and later were turned away from entering the lot after being told the park would be open. It was still the best trip of the season for me, since there was literally no one at the park (supposedly 400 people total) and I got more rides in those 2 1/2 hours than most people would at a full day in the park, those who drove an hour or more only to be turned away if they got there too late were not happy. I'm not saying the park was wrong to close early, just the way it was handled.
  13. I hope when they say discourage people from riding without kids they will still allow it but maybe they won't be happy about it. Not only for enthusiasts but it looks a lot bigger than your standard kiddie coaster and for a park with a very unbalanced collection of coasters (all are thrills, for the average park guest), I would think a lot of people might want to ride it.
  14. Weblos, I quit after 5th grade.
  15. Not exactly a big deal but Playland's Castaway Cove in Ocean City, NJ had a Zamperla Dragon in the early 90's. It's not on RCDB but I know it existed because I remember riding it and can still picture it's location (with the old layout before the redid the whole park layout, it was right near the antique cars).
  16. The first time I rode KK, it was too much for me. My chest was hurting for a few minutes and even though it was a walk on after my first ride, I chose not to ride again. I tried it again a few weeks later and didn't have my chest hurt this time. I have yet to ride it more than 3 times in a day but haven't had any problems since then even though the launch still seems intense to me after 11 rides this past season.
  17. I found that mid to late May during the week and early June was the best since they go to daily operations around May 15th. Other than Kingda Ka Dark Knight and I think El Toro, all coasters were 5 minute waits or less and in most cases walk ons. Only bad thing is the park closes at 6:00. Even weekends up to June aren't too bad. I went last year on a Sunday in early June and every coaster in the park including Kingda Ka was a walk on. The only wait was the log flume because it was around 100 degrees out (yet the rapids had less than a 5 minute wait).
  18. Even with no stores on the boardwalk, Ventnor's boardwalk would have had some people on it. They and I guess Margate too had a lot more year round residents. Seeing those pictures makes me wish it was summer. Being "down the shore" (Philadelphia term for those that don't know) is one of my favorite places.
  19. Yes, that is the biggest problem with Roller Soaker. It is a fun ride but not worth the wait it usually has. Based on 3 trains dispatching at once every 2 minutes, that's only 360 riders an hour and that is figuring every seat is filled which is way too low for a park that gets almost 3 million visitors a year.
  20. Wow, 2 water rides removed in 2 seasons. I can imagine that is going to make lines for the other water rides a lot longer.
  21. It's a well rounded park. Talon is a great invert, Steel Force and Voodoo good, Hydra and Thunderhawk are ok, Wild Mouse isn't too good. The water park is amazing, it is better than some standalone water parks with 2 lazy rivers, 2 wave pools and around 15 different slides. Another plus for the park is that lines are usually never a problem, especially on weekdays. Thundercreek Mountain is a unique terrain log flume and the flat collection is good. Dominator (S&S towers) and the Whip are my 2 favorites.
  22. They have them on Dorney's site, 65% off too but shipping is high.
  23. I thought Knoebels and PTC had a problem after they refused to put seatbelts on the coasters and PTC refused to service the coasters because of it? I don't know if that is 100% accurate but I remember reading about it here or possibly another site.
  24. Those plastic molding machines are so cool, I have a submarine and train from the science museum in Chicago.
  25. Or bought a huge flat ride collection. What a waste of $7.5 million. I have never heard such negative comments about any coaster as I heard what people said about TDK while at Great Adventure this past season. Tons of people exiting saying how bad it is, and one guy even went so far as to say to the entire line in May, "Please, I'm begging you, get out of line, it's horrible."
