  1. If you want to ride Rollersoaker that should be the first ride you go to if you get to the park early. It is very popular and has a horrible capacity I estimated it to be around 360 riders an hour and that is figuring every seat is filled, the website says 725 an hour but that is impossible, that means a set of 3 trains has to dispatch every minute which never happens. I just hope when you go operations are good, on my last trip Storm Runner had 1 train with a 75 minute wait, Fahrenheit had 2 trains running with the single rider line closed, Sooperdooperlooper had 1 train running with a line to the lower levels (which is unusual) and this was a day the park wasn't that crowded. The park has really gone downhill in operations in the past few years.
  2. I agree, I just think a lot of people are expecting the park to be open later. Even with the 6PM closing, I still managed to get 20 - 25 rides in 4 hours on average during those weekdays in June last year.
  3. The only bad thing is the 6PM closing on early and some mid June weekdays. It should still be enough time to get enough rides in but I saw people arriving at 2 thinking the park was open later and not happy.
  4. I went in early June during the week 3 times last year. The park was not crowded at all. The longest wait I had was Superman at 15 - 20 minutes 2 of those 3 visits (the other trip it was a walk on).
  5. That's shocking, usually even on slow days it has a wait. When I went in 2007 every coaster in the park was a walk on except Superman. Last year in the spring on days when the park was empty, it would still have 15 - 20 minute waits. I guess you got lucky, it's a fun ride but too short and not worth the wait times it usually gets.
  6. Runaway Mine Train got stuck, it was open after that and for the whole night, I rode it at around 6:30 and later after 8:00 Kingda Ka opened a little before 8:30 and they were working on getting it open as soon as the rain stopped, others said El Toro opened around 8:40 but I was at Kingda Ka at that time.
  7. Nitro's ops were literally running tonight. Same with Superman ops on my last visit almost 2 weeks ago. with Nitro, 3 trains were running and the next train was on the lift hill before the train on the course got to the MCBR. I have really been impressed with the ops this season, a lot even ask how my day is going and they are now almost all saying "enjoy your ride" when you get in line.
  8. Is it the car from the Joe Cool Sk8 (or something similar to that name) in Camp Snoopy?
  9. That hasn't been the case last season or this season. I timed it and Nitro was dispatching trains around every 80 seconds. The line was into the switchbacks past the 90 minute sign 2 weeks ago. I know the signs overestimate the wait times but it was a 25 minute wait with all 3 trains running.
  10. I think the news is blowing this out of proportion, they need something to report on and scare everyone. I was thinking yesterday if waterparks could close because of this but then I thought that the chlorine would help kill germs but will that be enough for people to not be scared?
  11. They also charge $10 to mail you your season pass if you don't want to pay $5 to print the voucher and then still have to stand in line. I don't mind a small shipping fee but they should be charging $1 or $2 at most to mail the passes. I paid the $10 to ship the pass because for $5 more I didn't have to wait in line or pay for ink to print the voucher but it was still annoying.
  12. $70 for a parking pass?! Wow, suddenly the $45 for a Great Adventure parking pass doesn't seem as bad.
  13. I forgot about that, didn't it get cancelled because next to no one signed up?
  14. The weight limit for each row (2 seats) is 275 pounds. So weight had nothing do do with it. I don't trust carnival rides at all. They seem to have more accidents than rides in non traveling parks. I haven't been on any carnival rides in years and will probably never go on a carnival ride again.
  15. Looks amazing for a school carnival. I went to 2 different colleges, both only had inflateable rides and a few very small rides that you controlled yourself.
  16. Crazy that Astroworld closed 3 1/2 years ago and not 1 of their coasters is running in another park but Geauga Lake closed 1 1/2 years ago and 5 of their coasters are up and running in other parks.
  17. Interesting to hear the test seat is more forgiving than the actual ride seat. Sounds like that is just asking for trouble and angry guests. It is usually the opposite I thought. Like with Voodoo, the test seat belt is a couple of inches shorter where I couldn't get it buckled and was able to buckle the actual ride buckle myself with no help.
  18. I think because in other areas of the country, new rides don't get lines like that. For example I rode The Dark Knight on the 5th day it was open at Great Adventure, I waited 25 minutes. I rode Voodoo a few weeks after it opened, I had a 5 minute wait. Even Fahrenheit that I rode in August was an hour, which was a long wait by me. So when I hear people talking about only 2 or 3 hours for Diamondback or how it was a 6 hour wait, it just seems amazing to see that type of line and people are actually willing to wait that long.
  19. I can't tell but does the line go all the way to where the lift hill supports are at the top of the picture? If so that is crazy.
  20. That was a great update, I wish they would still run Rolling Thunder like that. Today it is rare for both sides to be running at the same time and dispatches take 5+ minutes. I also am shocked to see the park was open everyday starting in April and they were open until Midnight every day in the summer.
  21. Usually an average of 15 times per season to both Dorney and Great Adventure. I normally go a lot to Great Adventure in April, May and early June, September and October (Friday nights) when the park is less crowded and go to Dorney during the summer where lines aren't as bad.
  22. They closed yesterday and today at 2:00 because of the weather. I don't blame them, it has been in the low 40s all day with rain. I have been to parks in bad weather before but even that is too much for me plus they say the wind chill is 35.
  23. It's a little far but the Jersey shore has quite a few credits. Seaside Heights is 23 miles away from Great Adventure, there is no guarntee all coasters will be open since it is early in the season though.
  24. Are all the adult slides enclosed or are any open? I saw tickets at my local Costco for $25 and it looks like a cool place to visit next winter.
  25. I have never visited a park on my birthday. I have been to MGM at WDW a few times on Christmas most recently 2006. It was great, ToT was a walk on in the middle of the day! The other holiday park visit I can think of was when I went to Dorney on Labor Day 2006, the park was dead. I went in 2007 on Labor Day to Hershey. It wasn't nearly as good. Lots of closed rides, 1 train running on too many coasters and long lines.
