  1. ...Well that was pretty f**king depressing...
  2. Six Flags posted stuff on Twitter saying there were site issues due to the heavy volume on the last day of the Flash sale. Seems to be okay now, just periodically check throughout the night if you still have issues.
  3. I'll take an Italian Beef sandwich any day over a deep dish. Or Vito & Nicks. Or just the Italian Beef pizza at Vito & Nicks.
  4. I didn't see an option for "All three look awesome so why pick and haven't even been built yet so who the f**k am I to judge", so I didn't vote.
  5. “Suck it, Hydra!” is still one of my favorite comments in a TPR video to this day!
  6. THAT'S WHAT I SAID! I could practically feel the airtime just sitting in my chair at work watching the video. Can't wait to see what it feels like in person!
  7. Man, those Jojo rolls just won't go away. This looks super awesome! Definitely need to make my way back in the very near future!
  8. ^ I've heard some mixed reviews in the years since, but I really enjoyed my two days at the park back in 2013. Goliath and now this provide two pretty convincing reasons to return to the park. And yes, Chi-Town FTW.
  9. This makes me really happy. I've been hoping for one of these for a while now, and it's going in a perfect location. The park has done an excellent job of revitalizing that section of the park over the last three years. My only hope is that they continue the trend and fill out the last remaining part of the Old Country section with another small flat like an Endeavor and remove some of that fencing they put up along it. I appreciate that the park took the time to add some quick landscaping and cleaned it up a bit (not to mention starting to keep it open full-time now), but it'd be nice to see a return to the more open-style it had when Musik Express and Spin Meister were still in operation. Then that area, IMO, would be perfect. A change from this: to something back to this: Photos from www.greatadventurehistory.com/.
  10. So a bunch of enthusiasts want it gone under the guise that Six Flags (the company that just built a coaster with 9 passenger trains in the same state) cares about capacity even though the ride seems to be in great shape and people seem to enjoy it? Got it.
  11. Dude I was dying in my chair at work reading the end of your TR. If I had that rough of a day at a park I'd certainly slowly start to lose my grip on sanity by the end, too. My ex and I had a pretty fun time at the park when we went five years ago, but even then you could tell that, IMO, the park tends to coast a bit too much on its "historic" laurels. I know a couple other parks do staggered openings, too (BGW comes to mind), but nowhere near as bad as Kennywood does. If they tighten up their operations a bit more it'd be a lot more of an enjoyable experience.
  12. I agree that the park has done a great job adding flats back into its lineup since 2012, but I don't know if I'd go so far to say the park is past needing flats just yet. From 2001-2007, the park removed 14 different flat rides, not to mention the second flume and Splashwater Falls. The Giant Discovery would make it 9 new rides since 2012 (assuming you count SORA). We're still way down from the most we've had back in 1999 at 32 (which even I think is unrealistic when seeing what it caused the last time around), but we're about 1-2 rides away from the average of 25 that we've had for most of the 80s and 90s, which I think is the sweet spot. An Endeavor and maybe a Troika / tilt-a-whirl would really help round out the remaining portion of the former Old Country section.
  13. It's a shame to hear this news about the state of the wooden coasters at the park. When I visited back in 2013 I enjoyed my rides on each of the coasters, especially Raven. However, it doesn't sound like I'm going to go out of my way to go back unless some significant track work is completed on each.
  14. The two best parts of the video to me were: - Watching Robb's eyes pop wide open during each moment of ejector airtime - Elissa's total mellow, chill, too-cool-to-put-my-hands-up riding position Awesome footage!! Can't wait to ride it myself!
  15. Everything Robb said in the thread is excellent advice that any heftier rider should take to heart. I managed to lose a little weight before our recent honeymoon, but I was still over 300lbs (6'0, broad frame / shoulders too), but out of five parks and 41 different roller coasters, there was only one that I wasn't able to ride (Colossus @ Thorpe Park, which I realized even if I lost a lot more weight it STILL would've been a stretch trying to fit on that thing), all from doing tricks and tips like the ones Robb listed. I always wear shorts, usually Under Armour gym shorts or cargo shorts with no belt, don't keep ANYTHING in my pockets, and will do the "sit all the way back, lower the shoulders, and exhale all the way" to get the last bit. I can certainly empathize with people struggling to lose weight - it's definitely hard, especially when struggling with food cravings. However, at the end of the day, no one is responsible for myself and how I got to this weight but me. I absolutely hate when I see larger people behave so entitled and indignant when they ask questions like the ones discussed earlier in the thread. To be honest, I actually appreciate that manufacturers and parks have taken the unnecessary extra steps to be as accommodating as they are with providing seats with less-restrictive restraints. They don't have to do things like that, and if you're annoyed that you may need to sit in the middle of a train or have fewer options as a result, use it as motivation to take the weight off.
  16. Awesome report so far! Love following along! I'm curious to know what exactly about DDD it was that you didn't like. I haven't ridden it, but I have been on Fahrenheit and Impulse (the two examples you used) so I wonder how DDD differs.
  17. Wait, Canobie Lake Park never has offered a season pass? That's so strange. Definitely a shame for you locals. I loved our trip to Canobie back in 2015. Nothing may significantly stand out like at other parks (though Cannonball and Untamed are both very fun coasters), but the charm of the place is the kicker. I was disappointed when they cancelled that river rapids ride, it looked like it fit the park really well.
  18. I could never imagine myself being so entitled to think that I "deserve" anything specific from my local amusement park, but I certainly would appreciate the addition of a Giant Discovery.
  19. Exhibit B. He said 2004 - 2019. Two of the fourteen in the list were built prior to 2004. 14 - 2 = 12.
