Weight Management Support/Enouragement thread
michaellynn4 replied to bert425's topic in Random, Random, Random
Wow, I didn’t realize how long it had been since anyone posted in this thread. Wanted to give an update — over the last few years, I’ve done my usual yo-yoing and let my weight get way out of control due to a variety of factors. I had lost some weight about two years ago after establishing a really solid routine, but that routine went right out the window once we had our second daughter. I managed to maintain that weight for a while, but a few months ago I ballooned back up to my heaviest. Well, as the saying goes, I got sick and tired of being sick and tired of it. I finally got past my mental hurdles and started a GLP-1 (Zepbound). It’s REALLY helped me establish new routines, minimize cravings, and develop a healthier, more balanced relationship with food — especially when it comes to overeating and recognizing that meals don’t always have to be about indulgence, but can simply be about nutritional balance. I’ve been on it for about 2.5 months now and am down around 50 pounds overall. Still a long way to go, but I’m really happy to finally have some real progress under my belt. I’ve also got several great reasons to stay motivated and keep pushing forward. Excited to see how things progress from here. -

It's a LOT of walking. Spring for whatever fast pass / line cutting options are available. Hours are short enough to make it worth it. Loved my visit but really regretted not getting it when I went. -
With media seemingly reporting every single time a coaster gets stuck on a lift hill and forcing people to evacuate down the stairs (looking at you, Siren's Curse), I can't imagine something like evacuating riders from a log flume VIA A CHERRY PICKER going completely under the radar like that. They have always typically shut Log Flume down around Labor Day in recent years, and given all the recent budget cuts and spending concerns, it's probably far more likely they just decided to up the date by a couple weeks.

I might actually go ride this coaster that I've lived 20 minutes from for the last 10 years. -
I was not prepared for Valhalla when we rode it back in 2018. We just thought "oh hey, here's a fun indoor log flume ride!" Didn't put on ponchos or anything. Needless to say, we spent a lot of time in those family dryers afterwards lol. Surprised you ended up liking Big One as much as you did. I, too, revered it from the picture books I had growing up, but it ended up being just a one-and-done for me. I suspect that the trains were more uncomfortable for me being a bigger guy. Steeplechase is an international treasure, and wars should be fought in the name of preserving it as long as possible.

I think that’s against the law in rural Indiana. -

That looks beautiful! love the colors, too. Always appreciate an Ozymandias reference! -
Looks like a nice balance of kid stuff and thrills. Great area for families - prefer seeing things like this where kid stuff just isn't segregated to one section but instead integrated around larger stuff (Hersheypark does a great job at this). This park routinely shows how it somehow is always a step above the rest of the company's lineup.

Fun addition that looks like a supercharged version of the Ripsaw ride they removed a while back. Side note, Alton Towers, more than any other park, seems to pride itself on selecting ride names that would find perfect homes within Roller Coaster Tycoon scenarios.
