  1. Who knows? It's all hypothetical. Maybe a manufacturer comes up with a ride with reduced costs. Maybe the general public suddenly starts demanding those types of rides again. Maybe I trip, fall, and smash my head on the concrete sidewalk, causing severe-enough brain damage to keep me from ever again having to spend yet another sleepless night worrying about whether or not future generations may experience a water ride without having to go through the inconvenience of changing into a bathing suit. If that answer doesn't suffice, I suggest consulting your nearest Magic 8 Ball.
  2. It's all about the maintenance costs. Dry park water rides require a lot more maintenance and upkeep in order to keep them functioning appropriately. For most small-to-mid size parks, these are costs that just don't make sense to deal with.
  3. I'd have to agree with most of what's being said here. It's nice to see you actively trying to change the way you look at parks and roller coasters, but unless you seriously reevaluate your expectations, it seems as if you're just bound for more disappointment. None of the 2019 North American coasters (including Copperhead Strike, West Coast Racers, Maxx Force, Steel Curtain, etc) interest you? You hate El Toro? You just have to forget pre-conceived notions / reviews and go in expecting to have a fun time. You do that, it'll be great. Side note: I never knew I needed a crocheted TV set with Pitfall on the screen until this moment. I also agree with Nrthwnd - Efteling was one of the highlights of our honeymoon this summer. It'd serve as the perfect litmus test for you. None of the coasters are "OMFG WHAT WAS THAT" (although Joris en de Draak was running bats**t insane thanks to Europe's hottest summer in 50 years), but there's so much else to appreciate at that park that I can't see how anyone can walk away less than impressed.
  4. A reason to be happy to visit the in-laws next summer!
  5. Sorry for the double post, but speaking of Great Adventure History, look what one of their posters (alden97) found speeding up northbound on the NJ Turnpike last night:
  6. That's right. Great Adventure History has a couple good photos from their latest trip report that show off the construction site.
  7. Wow, that Kentucky Flyer train looks so good! Really like the little touches like this!
  8. We were there last weekend and the only thing closed back there was Log Flume (though KK was down due to wind). It won't get blocked off until HitP officially starts.
  9. I don't think I rode a single roller coaster this month.
  10. Definitely SFGAdv, but the rest are a bit up in the air. It's looking like our trip to Niagara is getting scrapped / pushed back to 2020, but we may still be on for visiting friends in Colorado and my sister in San Fran, so that means SFDK, CGA, Elitch, and whatever that tinier one in Denver is that I'm too lazy to look up right now.
  11. Not yet, but I don't imagine it being much different from last year. They'll probably release it once Fright Fest wraps up.
  12. This thread gives me a headache, so I'm Rubbing My Cranium.
  13. Awesome report, man! BTW, you can really see how much weight you've lost in the photos! Looking good, keep it up!
  14. ^^ Thanks for the advice! Sorry to sound like a bunch of Debbie Downers after you came in with such good news, it's awesome to hear how much progress you made! Those moments when you realize what you're able to do / fit in after weight loss really make you feel good.
  15. ^ ^^ ^^^ I take it I missed something. Anywho, Infinity Falls actually looks like a lot of fun! Most of my experience with rapids rides is limited to Congo Rapids at SFGAdv, which was one of the first ones ever built (second, I think). Seeing rides such as this one out there help me remember how much potential they actually have. Glad to hear you guys had a blast!
  16. Glad that you had a good time! Makes me want to get to KK that much sooner. However... ...I don't get how this is a pro for the park.
  17. Just getting to this news now, and it didn't disappoint. While I agree the old entrance is charming, the park clearly outgrew its size years ago and I, like Robb, tend to only get to the park late (for the preview time) or right at park opening, before crowds get out of control as a result. Can't wait to see it for myself in 2020!
  18. Tropical Storm is one of the most bats**t flat rides I've ever been on. Glad to know that Bill survived.
  19. I wish I had better news to report, but I, too, am off the wagon. I put a lot of the weight I lost over the honeymoon back on due to bad habits and stress eating. Work has been really crazy lately, with a lot of deliverables and responsibilities piling up, and unfortunately it's lead to me really laying on stress eating as a crutch. Boldikus, I downloaded the first four weeks of that Couch to 5K podcast you talked about a while back (that was all that was on iTunes). I did my first run with it the other day and I gotta say, it actually made me feel good. Not physically, of course, but it had me in a really good mental state afterwards. I need to pick up some new shoes, but I really want to keep doing it.
  20. Based on the animation, right in front of the mountains. I haven't been on Oscar's Wacky Taxi, but Wooden Warrior is deceivingly fun with some nice pops of air (and from what I hear Oscar is the same way). If this ride is anything like those two, you'll love it.
  21. Only in NJ is there a 90 minute wait for a Flitzer...
