  1. Based on the animation, right in front of the mountains. I haven't been on Oscar's Wacky Taxi, but Wooden Warrior is deceivingly fun with some nice pops of air (and from what I hear Oscar is the same way). If this ride is anything like those two, you'll love it.
  2. Only in NJ is there a 90 minute wait for a Flitzer...
  3. It scared me too, but that was mostly because I couldn't shake the irrational fear of it falling apart mid-flight! I kept pushing up on the armrests because for some reason I thought that not applying all of my weight to the restraints would help. Really didn't care for any of the Vekoma Flying Dutchman coasters. Whatever is to come is guaranteed to be better.
  4. I disliked Vortex more than I disliked Firehawk, but I won't lose sleep over it leaving. I, too, and just glad it wasn't the Bat.
  5. No way that it's Beast, so much of the park's legacy is tied to that coaster. Vortex and Firehawk are the two strongest contenders. For all I'm concerned, they can both go.
  6. A bunch of the rides in the late 80s had three-year lifespans. Ultra Twister, Shockwave, and Condor each were only around for three years, and Sarajevo Bobsled was around for about four. Also, some of the rides added in 1999 were taken out after only three years, too.
  7. Jesus, and I thought this park was huge already. This is insane! I knew some of this was in the works but didn't realize they were going to be this ambitious! Surely will love to follow along with this and hopefully get back over there in a few years!
  8. Oh man, this thread is exactly what I needed at work right now. Thanks to all for the laughs.
  9. It's actually pretty much gone at this point, it's only a problem if I'm mumbling. ARRRR, just need to channel me confident inner pirate when gabbin' from the mouth!!
  10. AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!! Sorry, I have a speech impediment.
  11. Based on the assumed placement of footers in those blueprints posted a while back, I'd say it's not going to be a wooden roller coaster.
  12. I've ridden Fury 325 since this last post, so just insert that in between TTD and MF.
  13. So sorry to hear about your injury!! I know how much something like that can affect your day at a park. When we landed in Manchester, UK, for the second leg of our honeymoon, my right foot progressively hurt more and more throughout the day, to the point where the next morning, I could barely put any weight on it. The timing couldn't have been worse, as that day and the next were designated for Blackpool Pleasure Beach and Alton Towers, two parks I had have been wanting to visit for twenty years. I was determined to not let my foot impact our experience, and for the most part it wasn't too bad at Blackpool, but the sheer size of Alton Towers forced me to take many more breaks than I had hoped for, and it ended up affecting how much I could experience (I had to let Rikki experience the gardens on her own, for example, and relied on her photos). I thought I severely bruised my foot, but it turned out to be gout - yet another wake-up call for my diet. Glad to hear that you were in good spirits, though! Hershey and Chocolate World certainly help in that regard.
  14. Screamscape: I mean, still take it all with a grain of salt, but it's interesting that these conversations seem to be continuing rather than dying out. I like El Diablo but certainly won't miss it. King Cobra, pfft, good riddance. We were supposed to get retrofitted drop towers instead, anyway.
  15. ^ Also, if you're on the go, I had a lot of success with the mobile app NS Reisplanner Xtra. Trains and bus schedule, very easy to use, very up-to-date. Even gave estimated fares, too.
  16. That's a bummer. I liked that one a lot more than the one up at Jenkinson's in Point Pleasant. Here's to (hopefully) better things!
  17. Public transport in the Netherlands is super easy, but the bus and train tickets are separate. I wouldn't worry about it, though. The train ticket you can buy at the airport, and you can just pay the bus driver directly with a credit or debit card. That's what we did back in July and we had no hiccups.
  18. From Screamscape today: My initial feeling was... ...but then I thought about it a little bit more and to be honest, when factoring in a couple more things that we know, the claim may not be that far off. We know that they walled off the Splashwater Oasis complex in the Golden Kingdom. Also, at Riding of the Bulls on Saturday, park president John Winkler told those attending that the 2020 attraction will be “tall", "made of steel”, and has been in the works for a while. This heavily hints towards a coaster, which would fit nicely into the potential area freed up by removing Oasis and Diablo. I still lean towards "bulls**t" about El Diablo leaving, but who knows.
  19. Ehhh, it's not actually faster. The ride ran at a much higher capacity with dual station operations and 4 trains. But it's cheaper to run the ride with 3 trains and one station (less employees and less trains running at a time) and it also improves downtime because there are less trains launching every hour. Ah. Well that's certainly a lot less of a glamorous reason, lol. My bad!
  20. Awesome placement! It'll be a great addition to Ireland and help round out that section of the park.
  21. ^ Same things why Kingda Ka has went down to a max of three trains on one side of the station instead of dual station operations - it was shown to the park that it's actually faster to just use three on one side instead of four on two sides.
  22. Call me crazy, but if I lived close by to a park offering something like that, I'd probably do it. Work a few hours a day on the weekends to just clean some bathrooms and make a few extra bucks on the side? I actually get some pleasure doing monotonous cleaning like that, it helps me zone out and relax. Plus, I'd love to be on the other side again, working for a park. I actually think this is a good idea.
  23. Does anyone from the area know how the park has been doing ever since coming under Koch management? I've always rooted for the place's success and have been wondering how their changes and additions have helped turn the park around, if at all.
  24. Wow, that looks awesome! Huge fan of the show, eager to see what the reviews will say about this!
  25. Yep. "Philadelphia in the east, Pittsburgh in the west, and Alabama in the middle." I appreciate the photos, too. We thought about renting a cabin last year, too, but Rikki insisted on...camping (*shudder*). Glad to know the cabins aren't much better and know for sure that the best option is a local hotel.
