  1. Looks great! These Sky Rocket IIs really go up quickly. It’s so nice to see a large coaster change SWSD’s skyline.
  2. My thoughts exactly. Even with Storm Runner and Kingda Ka not far away, I’d be happy to see Dorney get Kanonen. You can’t go wrong with another Intamin Accelerator. But for now, I’m gonna remain skeptical until we see something like a permit filed (that has matching stats) or something along those lines.
  3. Just got back from the park. Full Throttle is still on one train, so it pulled a big line all day, but the rest of the rides weren’t too bad. Tatsu’s lower queue was about 2/3 full and only took 30 minutes. Twisted Colossus’s line just about filled the whole building, and it was only 20 minutes. And the operations weren’t even that great, although we did get lucky and race both rounds on TC. The mid-level B&Ms (Scream, Batman, Riddler) had 15-20 minute waits, and most other rides had equal or smaller waits, with Viper being a walk-on. WAY less crowded than last week, but I have a feeling some of these weekdays in February and March will be absolutely dead, like Knott’s. Like I said on the last page or so, Scream is actually running well. Having both trains refurbished now really seemed to help the ride. I used to be a huge critic of it, but after getting a half dozen or so consistently good rides (in varying places throughout the train) throughout the last couple months, I think it jumped a few spots in my Floorless rankings. Viper is still better in terms of the park’s multi-loopers, but I actually make an effort to ride Scream now rather than pretending it doesn’t exist. Batman still kicks tons of a$$ and is glass smooth. I’m glad to see this ride pull decent lines on busy days, because I’ve always thought it was one of the more overlooked rides in the park. I think Green Lantern never being open also plays a part in Batman’s longer-than-usual lines. Overall a good day at the park. My spring break is weirdly early this year, so I’m hoping to visit during the week and get walk-ons on most rides. If the park manages to keep their rides running somewhat efficiently (for SFMM standards), I’m a big fan of 365-day operation.
  4. Iron Reef is definitely still popular. The average queue fills the switchbacks inside the building. But the ride also has a terrible capacity, so maybe that’s why it always has a line. I spent a few hours at the park today to check out HangTime construction. It was far less crowded today than last week, but GhostRider’s line was still crazy, and most of the family coasters had almost 1-hour waits. As for HangTime, about half of the overbanked turn is complete along with the double down leading into the cobra roll. I also searched around at Xcelerator, and a train is still parked in the station with the other one no where to be seen. Sol Spin is still closed, as expected. Although I saw a few maintenance guys working on it sometime mid-day. Here are a few photos. Hopefully this will give a nice pop of airtime! Dormant Xcelerator.
  5. I honestly prefer the current Arrow trains to those S&S ones, if they’re anything like the ones on El Loco at Adventuredome. I didn’t find them very comfortable at all, especially if they’re on a ride as jerky as Magnum. Just my two cents.
  6. They aren't identical colors at all. Manta has light/sky blue supports with royal blue track. Electric Eel has sea foam supports and pale blue track. That was poor wording on my part. I guess I should have said “similar” since I knew somebody was going to correct me. I see light blue columns and dark(er) blue track on both coasters. That’s what I was getting at... And like I said, I really like the colors on both rides.
  7. I completely agree with this. Kings Island’s second- and third-tier coasters are vastly better than the ones at Carowinds and Canada’s Wonderland, so that leads me to believe that they won’t get a giga any time soon. But of course, if it actually happened at some point, I don’t think anybody would really complain!
  8. Both are great, but I’ll choose airtime. Would you rather ride Kingda Ka in the front row or Top Thrill Dragster in the middle row?
  9. I’m really liking the colors! They look almost identical to Manta’s, but that’s definitely not a bad thing!
  10. I swear, that’s what it feels like most of the time.
  11. I absolutely love Riddler’s Revenge. I guess I wouldn’t mind it being converted into a Floorless, but I don’t see that happening any time soon. I used to hate Scream, but the last few rides I’ve had on it (on the refurbished train) have actually been quite good, I must admit. I’ve still had more bad rides on it than good, but recently it’s been running well. They must be using the round wheels rather than the square ones. But Viper is still better than both of them...
  12. I rode Viper in the freezing cold last week (for us Californians), and during the ride I improvised a random, stupid photo. I decided to pay the ridiculous price for a digital download and set it as my avatar because it’s my first one that actually shows me.
  13. 2018! It’ll be a great year for coasters! Railblazer or Wonder Woman GLC?
  14. Lots of track was added to HangTime last night. The double down and part of the overbanked turn are now up. I’m making a solo trip to the park sometime this week, so I’ll take photos if nobody beats me to it.
  15. The reason I say I sometimes prefer the grid is because occasionally I like to know that something is exactly centered, or that a station is an exact height above the ground (RCT3 had “notches”), or that corners for buildings are exactly lined up (this is a big one). Like you said, Planet Coaster allows you to build on the grid if you desire, which I think is genius on their part since it appeals to both audiences, but when you’ve been playing RCT3 since the year it came out, it’s more difficult to adapt. I just don’t like eyeballing things. I like knowing precise locations, lengths, widths, radii, angles, etc.
  16. that's great! you were the only one riding?? There were a few people in the front car, and I was in the back car, but that’s it. It’s one of my favorite rides in the park.
  17. I’m not a big dark ride person, but Justice League at SFMM really exceeded my expectations. It’s an excellent (and much needed) ride for the park.
  18. Once again, my last ride was Viper (SFMM) last night. That is almost always my last ride of the night when I visit.
  19. Amazing POV! I absolutely love Afterburn, and Montu just looks like a bigger, badder, longer version. I need to get to Florida and experience all of their amazing-looking B&Ms.
  20. I was at the park yesterday, and it was VERY crowded. We ended up splurging on a Flash Pass to make the day more enjoyable. Despite the crowds though, it was nice to see TC back to three trains and Superman running both sides. However, Full Throttle is still only running one train. It had the slowest moving line in the park. I didn’t want to touch that ride with a ten-foot pole after the one ride we get with Gold Flash Pass. I’m really curious to see how 365-day operation is going to affect operations and maintenance schedules with ride rehab and stuff like that.
  21. ^If you’re going to spend $90 for a day ticket, just buy a season pass at that point. That is always the way to go with Six Flags. Plus, that pass can also get you into Magic Mountain if you ever find yourself available to head down there. I can’t speak about crowds, since I’ve never been to the park, but I assume it will be crowded considering they are still open daily the week of New Years.
  22. Heading to the park today. Based on my visit yesterday at Knott’s, I expect Magic Mountain to be slammed with crowds. I may or may not splurge on a Flash Pass... will see.
  23. These were my exact thoughts. This is probably what Merlin didn’t do that allowed Colossus to go bad. Props to Six Flags!
  24. I have been going to Knott’s regularly since about 2004, and I’ve seen the good, bad, and ugly from this park, but I think today was the most crowded I’ve ever seen Knott’s. Silver Bullet completely filled its queue, all the way to the entrance (which was about a 1 hr 45 min wait with two trains running and semi-decent ops). Monte had a full queue as well (which NEVER happens). Supreme Scream also did, despite them running all three towers. Jaguar was out of the entrance, the Log Ride went as far back as it could go, GhostRider filled the switchbacks outside the building (and easily had over a 2-hour wait), and Pony Express filled the queue and went all the way down to the burger place (near the ride’s launch). Absolutely insane. I rode a whopping 3 rides over the course of a 9-hour day, and one of those involved sucking it up and waiting for Bullet. Wow. Sol Spin also ending up being closed after all. No surprise there. I’m really hoping 2018 is a good year for the park (excluding HangTime), hopefully they can get Xcelerator, Sol Spin, and Sky Cabin all up and running regularly again. It’s getting kinda old.
  25. I’m heading to the park tomorrow. The only rides listed as closed on the website are Xcelerator and Sky Cabin, so I’m crossing my fingers that Sol Spin will finally be operating.
