  1. Great pictures. I visited on Saturday and to bring you up to date a little this season: Wristbands are £20 (£18 online), there are no longer any on/off peak rates. The barcode tickets can still be bought and have credit applied to. All rides have gone up 50p this season, costing £1.50 for children's, £2.50 for family and £3.50 for thrill. They claim to be running all rides all day every day where posisble. On Saturday they had just got Jubilee Odyssey running for the first time and it ran for around an hour between 7:30pm and 8:30pm. It should now be running each day. While Millennium is really quite smooth by Vekoma standards, as much as I love it, I would not describe Jubilee Odyssey as smooth! Fantasy Island is one of my closest parks, so I hope it has a sucessful season as I am quite fond of the place.
  2. It's £6 a gallon here now, which is around $9.70 in today's prices
  3. Mondial Top Scan - at a quiet park!
  4. You can be certain this is coming, and it will be on a schedule to arrive in 2013 so I think we'll see it then. I like Thirteen, but I know a lot of people didn't, so I can't say I'm confident every enthusiast will be pleased.
  5. Nemesis, getting a little rough in its old age, particularly at the back.
  6. No. Have you ever accidentally burned someone's clothing in a busy bar/club/pub/concert/whatever with your cigarette and not told them?
  7. Bling is in operation, I rode it on Sunday and found it fairly tame compared to Top Scans.
  8. From a UK point-of-view, Valhalla was my major first-time to-do and I did that last weekend. I think Vampire and Apocalypse are the next two major things as I have never been to Chesisngton or Drayton.
  9. I think you will find that a large percentage of that budget is covering the infilling of the land to create this new Island, this started last year so they could take their time and spread the cost, the approx cost of the new coaster and themeing is probably closer to £14 million...... Yes, but it's still an immense figure. Think back to the landscaping required for Nemesis and Oblivion and recall their budgets.
  10. I went on Valhalla for the first time yesterday and in February the coldness really does take your breath away. Went on it three times, never been that wet on a ride before but it is one of the best rides of any type I have ever been on.
  11. Sounds like a case of sour grapes to me!
  12. This year I am planning on going to see: Steven Adler (Guns N' Roses priginal drummer) The Levellers The Stranglers The Undertones The Damned
  13. Nice analysis. In Vekoma's defence, they bring coasters to parks and area sthat may not otherwise be able to afford them. Any coaster is better than no coaster. The flagship rides at my two local parks are Vekomas, but that's in the UK and not a particular busy/rich area.
  14. A three coaster, pan-European deal price wouldn't be mentioned in the plans for this ride. Either LC12 has a projected budget of £18m, or the £18m budget is for both Thorpe coasters. £18m is a high budget for this ride but I think it's more likely than that figure being spread over two rides.
  15. Boomerang, which is a standard Vekoma Boomerang.
  16. Great news for Thorpe as they continue to push for the most thrilling rides in the UK. The plans mention an £18m rollercoaster project. I wondre if this is a deal with B&M for LC12 AND the coaser coming in 2015 or just for LC12? There sure is a lot of theming and work to be done to build the coaster over water as well as linking the island to the rest of the park with a bridge etc. But no, this still doesn't justify the removal of perks from the Merlin Annual Passes! They money raised from that would be a drop in the ocean for an £18m budget. Just make the ride and experience so amazing that we forget about the removal of perks!
  17. Don't let this incident destroy your faith in humanity Robb! I've found Facebook (largely but not exclusively) best for people you actually know and have actually met in person. Twitter is for any old person to follow you. Or you could create two Facebook pages and just have one for actual friends and family?
  18. Agreed, and that includes into Wales. Haha, no only joking.
  19. Hoping to go tomorrow. I hope that all the effects in Valhalla are working (my optimistic logic is that they fix them during the closed season and they start all working and then gradually fail during the season). Well I don't mind it being fairly busy as long as it isn't August Bank Holiday proportions...
  20. ^ How busy will the park be on opening weekend? I'm hoping to go on Saturday! if they have re-painted the whole ride, good on them as that would have been very time-consuming and expensive!
  21. Some nice shots, we just don't have colours like that in the UK!
  22. 'In house' generally means not by a big/well-known firm. They will have still been fabricated by professionals contracted in. I am hoping to go at the weekend for the first time in ten years. They have repainted the whole ride???
