SFNO/Jazzland Discussion Thread
pvcoasterguy replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This doesn't suprise me very much. The ride itself (when I rode in 2004) was pretty bad. The double up was terribly painful, and the entire ride lacked airtime. When we rode in one of the trains, the ride was fairly rough, but not overly so. But when we rode in the other train, yikes. That was one of the worst rides I had ever been on. It's amazing what crappy trains do for a good design. They ruin the good design. -

This is one of the best TR's I've ever seen! Great pictures and captions, and nice use of Kim Possible. -

"Tests show more than 1,100 bolt assemblies that used epoxy and more than 300 other areas in the tunnel are unreliable. All, he (Gov. Mitt Romney) said, will have to be reinforced." Link to full story: http://www.sacbee.com/24hour/front/story/3332057p-12270249c.html Well, that sucks. Oops. -

97 here in Iowa. With the high humidity, the heat index is 112!

I love soundtracks. ET Jurassic Park Pirates of the Caribbean Poseidon (I really love this one- minus Fergie, whose tracks suck) Rent Batman Begins (also a really good one) Superman Returns (not a big fan of the Superman Theme, but this soundtrack makes it subtle at times, and also has other good parts to it).

Here is Miss Kitty. Her favorite thing of all, though, is watching our goldfish. She also likes to do self-portraits. Miss Kitty likes to lay around the house.

The Riddler station looks worse than the Viper station at Great America without a grouper. Yikes. Anyway, nice TR! -

It's amazing what rain does for wooden coasters. What would be a medicore (or just good) ride before turns into an amazing ride once the rails get wet. Case in point: Tornado at Adventureland. Last Wednesday, it was raining pretty darn hard, but they kept the rides open. It was flying through its coruse, and we were lucky enough to score a front-row ride. Great airtime throughout the course. Usually, it's just good or okay. Great TR! Can't wait to see the videos. -
Roeding Park! Trip Report! Pictures!

^ I know it's not true for BMW's, but the Mercedes SUV we have was actually reasonably priced (this was 1999 model year). It cost as much as a Ford Explorer with the options we wanted. Guess which one we picked (duh!) Now that car has 110,000 miles on it, and has never had a serious problem. It's pretty nice, because it's going to be my first car (it's only worth like $5,000 now.) Anyway, the TR was great! -

Ever had a black out on a coaster?
pvcoasterguy replied to Dark Vampire's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I have grey-outs on some coasters, sometimes. (Less than a black out... you just see a bunch of grey.) Hulk (base of first drop to end of cobra roll or loop) Dragon (at Adventureland, IA- second loop) Kumba (dive loop) -

Ride Reliability
pvcoasterguy replied to ConleyKE's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Reliability shouldn't be an issue during your visit, unless one of the coasters has a major malfunction. (MF's cable lift breaks, Dragster has an ouchie, etc.) If one does have a breakdown, it will reopen quickly, as long as it's not a huge problem. Barring that, the coasters should be open. Ops are really good, so the only big lines you'll have are on Mantis, MF, Dragster, and maybe Wicked Twister. (At least in my experience). -
Photo TR: Coaster Palooza X.2 The Texas Version
pvcoasterguy replied to Coaster Palooza's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Nice TR! Apparently Six Flags is testing these VIP tours at Over Texas and Great America. Then they want to roll them out company-wide. Sounds like they're a great deal, and not terribly overpriced. ($30/person? Not bad at all for a experience like that. There were only four people in the group!) -
I can't say I'm terribly suprised at any of the choices. These are Six Flags' "flagship" parks. They are the family parks that the new management wants. (And some of the best parks in the chain, in terms of rides and service.

I think the best way to resolve some of these things is simply e-mailing or sending a PM to Robb or Elissa. We all saw what happened with "Elissa's son", which made the site look terrible (by the comments posted on YouTube). By private messaging or e-mailing, it stops the flame wars. Simply insulting a person will not resolve the problem. This gives the people the benefit of the doubt, as Robb was talking about.
