  1. So, based on your feedback, should I remove the video box and just include it where the "main update" is. As in, you'll write javascript to have it "swipe" across or rotate. I may go back to the drawing board... start from scratch.
  2. Added the anouncement section and the featured video section. I feel like this very much a "2010" site. Also, I feel like the look of the site connects with the look of the forum pretty well, and is in the same "family" as the park index. Click to make bigger. I'm designing this with "2010" in mind. I'm trying to keep it modern, somewhat familiar, and use real estate effeciantly. The next sections I'll be working on is the "Parks, News, Trip Reports, Ect" and the "Random" section. If anybody has any ideas or comments please feel free to share. I'd also like to say that I'm a fan of DKR's mock-up. I like the current homepage as it is and he made it look nicer and added some "2010" functionality. I'm looking forward to see what you do with it DKR. Good Job!
  3. ^^I agree that the current page may come off as "too busy." I'm trying to address this issue in my design. I believe that as far as "official" updates go my method works well. One large "featured stories" and limit the sidebar to 5 stories with a link to more. I believe that this 5 story cap will still give users at least a one day grace period before missing a story on the homepage. And even of they do they'll be able to click the "even more" link. ^AJ, like the icons. I'm excited to see how you layout your design.
  4. I'd thought I'd post what I have so far for initial feedback. I just don't want to continue if what I'm doing isn't going to work or is too different. I'm trying walk that fine line between familiarity, functionality, and new hotness! I kept everything the same width as the current page. What I have so far. So far all I have is the logo, nav bar, and the TPR updates section. I still have a lot to add. -The News, Trip Reports, Ect. Section -The CoasterTUBE / YouTube feature section -Social Network Links -Anything else I can think of. If you are wondering where the "exchange" button is, I plan on including it in a drop down menu from the "forum" button. This will let you jump directly to a forum rather than link you only to the forum index page. Any imput would be great! Also open to ideas and suggestions.
  5. Wow, very impressive coaster! You can defiantly tell by the supporting and layout that Anton hand his hands all over this design.
  6. Anybody know where they are now in regards to being ahead of / behind schedule? Aside from the creek flooding there hasn't been many snags so far. And we've had a really tame winter in the North East so far.
  7. My very bias vote is for Top Thriss Dragster as it is the only Intamin Accellorator I've been on.
  8. So this is purely from a design standpoint (as in no coding, just concept)? If so this is something I'm defiantly interested in doing. I'm going to keep this in mind today and write down ideas and start my photoshop mock-up tomorrow! This should also be a challenge because TPR has a lot of needs that need to be addressed in the homepage. And for the most part the current page meets those needs extraordinarily well IMO. So the question is how to keep that functionality and ease of use while making it more visually appealing to visitors? I'm excited about this!
  9. Darien Lake is getting three new family rides for 2012. No announcement on what the rides will be yet, that will come in march. Not a rumor as it was confirmed by season pass mailer and E-mail.
  10. Was just browsing RCDB and found this... I didn't even know about this El loco. While the restraints look a bit uncomfortable the cars look cool. Love the axes in the front! From RCDB - Timber Drop
  11. ^ I feel like your reasoning is kinda unfair. Kinzel was there during the acquisition. If Cedar Fair hadn't bought Geauga Lake then perhaps the park would have closed in 2004 and there would be no WWK. Also, as CEO Kinzel is supposed to act in the company's and shareholders best interests. I'm sure any decision he made most likely made business sense. Anyway, just talked to my cousin and she told me Cedar Point had auditons on Friday. We're almost halfway through the off season!
  12. Trim brakes are used on nearly every B&M hyper I can think of... I really don't think it's cause for concern. I also think the Millie comparisons are a little bit of a stretch. There are a few similarities, but not enough to compare the two IMO. Also, I'm starting to make my summer plans and I cannot believe how psyched I'm going to be walking into Canada's Wonderland for the first time and seeing this thing!
  13. The lift is very interesting. Strange but it's functional and still manages to look pretty good. I think those funky supports give it character.
  14. Mine is my name. 8-/
  15. Must find an excuse to go to Texas! This looks amazing and I'm glad they are putting the effort in to keep it a healthy and happy coaster!
  16. When I went to CP two years ago I must have gotten lucky. The two rides I got on mean streak were actually pretty OK. I guess having Darien Lake as my home park (Predator and an SLC) has made me immune to roughness. I wonder what changes could me made to MS's layout if hypothetically it ended up getting the NTAG Rocky Mountian treatment. I'm sure if they got their hands on it the could manage to give MS some airtime!
  17. In no particular order: 1) People who litter... that is just disrespectful. Especially in a Cedar Fair park as you are either standing next to, in front of, or on top of a garbage can already. 2) People who yell in line to someone outside the line, for several minutes. Chances are you both have cell phones, stop screaming and use them. 3) Unless you are very attractive and female, I don't really want to talk to you stranger. Instead use your eyes! You should be able to figure out if the ride goes upside down or not. 4) Screeching... please stop. 5) Line jumping. Don't pretend like we didn't see you. You're 12 and sporting a Justin Beiber haircut... you're not a ninja. I'm sure there is more, these were just off the top of my head.
  18. Wow, this industrial / mad scientest thing is the polar opposite of the Santa claw... I like it.
  19. You know what I'm gonna put this is my calendar. This seems like a fun thing to do. I never managed to get to SeaBreeze and this is just one more reason to go. You think a clubTPR T-shirt is dark enough?
  20. Beautiful! I think that this will also enable parks to create semi realistic renders of their projects without spending a lot of money. I know that there is no ETA but I have my fingeres crossed for a 2012 release.
  21. I know it probably wasn't the most G's I've pulled, but it sure felt like it. I was tubing this summer and my best friend got behind the wheel. He is kinda an [censored]. He put me in the whip and hit it so hard I felt like my arms were going to rip off. I caught a wave and lost the tube and rolled on the water for probably 50ft. I was very bruised the next day but is was fun and terrifying at the same time. Edit: PSA, this is why you wear a life jacket.
  22. Maybe skydiving... Or bungie jumping in New Zealand (I really want to go to new Zealand). As for "normal" theme park rides. No. I did wait 3 for Macerick, but I rarely get to CP so I kinda had to.
  23. I love skee-ball. Unfortunatly now I'll think about this lawsuit the next time I play, which is kinda a downer when playing a fun simple game. I understand skee-ball wanting to protect their brand, but this really seems pointless. "Brew-skee-ball" seems mutually beneficial for skee-ball and the league. I actually hope the idea of skee-ball leagues spread because it seems like it would be a blast.
  24. I was at work today and a coworker of mine was talking about how he is too tall to ride Ride of Steel at Darien lake (he's 6'7''). Another coworker responded by saying "you should sue them!"
