  1. If this was actually enacted and enforced imagine the cost to taxpayers. Doesn't the government have more pressing issues it can focus on? Furthermore, I believe that the Internet drives our economy more than the entertainment industry does, we should protect that.
  2. ^Again this is information I remember from a paper I quickly read in class last semester. But I believe it mainly had to do with potential fake pages phishing for information. We quickly talked about it during my intro to web production class last semester. Keep in mind that I go to community college so I am not an expert on this by any means. I'm just offering what I think I know to the conversation.
  3. DRM didn't work, why will this? Even if this passes, it will have 0% chance of significantly reducing piracy. Here is a summery of a paper I read a while back. I can't find it so I'm paraphrasing... The whole idea is essentially DNS blocking. DNS means Domain Name System. What this does is takes a web address ad associates it with an IP address (for example http://themeparkreview.com = 98.142.209.220). The law would require ISPs to redirect or filter offending domains. This "DNS hijacking" would actually cause a lot of security problems... But we need not get into that. There is a catch... DNSSEC DNSSEC does not allow for this type or redirecting. This makes the web more secure. DNSSEC prevents a browsing session form being Hijacked by a fake DNS record (common with phishing scams). The development of DNSSEC hopes to prevent this. Furthermore, the current bill states that service providers are required to take only “technically feasible and reasonable measures” to comply with government court orders. The legislation further states that a service provider is not required to “modify its network, software, systems, or facilities” to comply with these requirements. This means that if ISPs DNS servers use DNSSEC, because DNSSEC does not allow for this type of redirecting ISPs wouldn't have to take action.
  4. Ride of Steel at Darien Lake. When they lost the Rights to Superman they did the most unamaginitve re-name ever.
  5. Just got back from my week in the woods (no cell service) so I just got caught up with the project. I must say this thing is beautiful! Those bunny hills look like they will be great airtime. Oh I cannot wait until 2012!
  6. ^Agreed. If the tree is left as is it may give a good head chopper effect.
  7. Even if the water level comes halfway up the concrete footers it will look normal. Ride of Steel at Darien lake has similar tall footers in the area that goes over the pond/swamp thing. It's good that they have a little extra concrete in the event of another flood.
  8. Cannot wait 'til I ride this thing. That Stengal dive looks awesome on its own, add "wing" seats and you have a peanutbutter and epic sandwich!
  9. ^I'm no political expert... Buy why would there be a correlation between political parties and theme parks? I think it is just coincidence.
  10. This is officially my "feel good" thread. There is just so much right with this project. Also the fact that it is being made because they want to make it and not to effect some bottom line or some corporate reason is amazing. Hopefully I can get out there In the next couple of years and check it out!
  11. ^^I believe Krake at Heide Park has retractable magnetic brakes on its brake run, that is the only one I can think of... And I'm not even positive on that.
  12. I'm sure that the magnetic brakes are adjustable, not so much on the fly like mechanical brakes. Remember how many revisions the trims on the first drop on i305 went through that opening season. As I recall they make the fins out of different materials that control how powerful the brakes are.
  13. I would love to see them spend the money to make this coaster "right," but I know sometimes it's just more worthwhile to cut losses and abandon a project. It just seems like a waste because the coaster looks like it is very much integrated with the building, looked like an awesome experience.
  14. If Formula Rossa wasn't trimmed they would have to widen the exit ramp... so an ambulance could pull up to cart unconscious injured riders off the ride. And yes, Fahrenheit valleyed. But I believe that the ride still opened that day after the train was pulled out of the cobra roll and completed its circuit. Not sure how that one incident makes Fahrenheit "lousy."
  15. Wow, holy positive g's Batman! This looks like it will be sick diving under that bridge.
  16. I think Real Art would make a great App Development Company in general. Do they have any apps they've developed out right now? I'll have to look into that.
  17. Not sure if we can expect Disney quality, as Disney has a huge network of artists, animators, designers, ect. at their Disposal. Disney is a huge mega corporation that owns everything, they are on a whole different level IMO. I do think that this will be a very extensively themed ride. I don't think it will be as seamless as Disney's themes however.
  18. So, the story is you fight vegetation? Story still sounds 1000x better than "The Happening"...
  19. I don't "get" the random yellow supports. But I doubt it will be noticeable once track is install over it. It's awesome seeing this thing progress! Looking forward to future updates!
  20. Well, I guess the coaster wars cannot go without casualties. I guess Ring Racer is now dead and Formule Rossa maybe on its way out. I just hope that this doesn't reflect badly on S&S, because despite this minor hiccup the company I feel is one of the best out there.
  21. ^My computer updated and restarted on me... I'm out
  22. There are some good ideas, buy why remove rides at all? Darien Lake has TONS of land. The campground is really sub-par anyway, and too large for the park. Here is what I'd like to see for Darien Lake 1) Renovation of Predator, perhaps with topper track, and also add some dark tunnels to make the ride a little more intense. 2) Sell MotoCoaster (IMO, kinda a lame ride) and put in an S&S el Loco, and this time clear land and not just build it on top of a pool. 3) Do some sort of re-theme for RoS. I'd like to see them put water cannons like Maverick under the first drop and the flat part where it goes over water. 4) Add another attraction by mind eraser. Perhaps an S&S Screamin' Swing over the water. Just so it's not just a bridge to a crappy SLC. 5) Paint SkyCoaster and Slingshot white and add Neon lights to SkyCoaster to make them match. 6) New lighting package for Giant Wheel, at the very least remove graffiti. 7) Last, but probably most important. Rebuild the bridge going from cuda falls to the rest of the water park. The wood is splintered and it burns your feet. Maybe some sort vinyl wood-like material that doesn't burn your feet. And remove the blacktop sections of the waterpark while your at it. OUCH!
  23. I guess it really doesn't matter what they call it. It's just another way to bend a coat hanger. It probably only confuses enthusiasts. I imagine the GP just accept "that is a barrel roll" and are done with it.
  24. ^ I'm not leaving as long as I can help it. Part out of curiosity, part out of my inability to accept that the claw has once again left us I'm wondering if they still have the monitors set up? If we chat can they see it still?
  25. I'm not too familiar with the park, but if it does go under perhaps it would change hands. I can see it now! Koenigsegg World Bugatti World Saleen World And for you greenies! Smart Car World!
