  1. Pleasant Surprise: -Space Mountain at WDW: I wasn't expecting much from it, but I ended up really loving it. It has such a great layout that really packs a punch. -Thunderbolt at Luna Park: I didn't expect to enjoy this ride since it's from Zamperla, but I really enjoyed it. It has a great layout, and I didn't find it to be all that painful. -I-305: I was sure I wouldn't like it because I don't like Maverick, but I was very wrong. That ride is just incredible. -Predator at Darien Lake: I was bracing for the worst, but it wasn't all that bad and that was in the back seat! It's a decent coaster with a good layout. It just needs some good retracking. -FireChaser Express: From the POVs, this coaster looked like a snooze fest, but it was a fun ride. -Mr. Freeze Reverse Blast: Wow! I really loved this ride. I loved being pulled up the tower backwards and then rampaging through the rest of the course. Unpleasant Surprise: -Maverick: I was SO excited for this coaster when it was under construction, and I couldn't wait to ride it. After getting off, I felt so disappointed. It was EXTREMELY painful for me, and the layout doesn't excite me at all. This is a coaster I WANT to like, but just can't. -Possessed at Dorney: It took me four tries to get this credit, and it was so unsatisfying. The brake was very painful. -Voyage: This coaster gets such high reviews, and I don't understand it. It's VERY rough, and the design is just okay. -Lost Coaster of Superstitious Mountain: Again, I don't understand why people love this coaster so much. It's incredibly rough and you can't really see any of the theming inside. -Nitro at SFGAdv: This coaster is incredibly boring. There's not much airtime, and it has a horrible rattle. -Kraken: Rattles horribly and the layout does little for me. There's more, but I don't feel like writing a book here.
  2. ^ Which is exactly why Six Flags will probably purchase a crap ton of them!
  3. ^ Yes, Acapulco is an extremely dangerous city with lots of drug cartel related incidents (especially kidnappings). It's a shame since it used to be one of THE places to go on vacation. If this park opens, I wonder how many people will be brave enough to visit.
  4. I read that as well. It's an interesting project, and would definitely bring an unknown FEC into the spotlight.
  5. In response to all of the terrible things about Kennywood, it's unfortunate that this is all typical now. Under the family ownership and management, the place was phenomenal with customer service. After they sold out, their corporate has let the place go down hill, and it's just getting worse. ^ For the Skycoaster incident, this doesn't surprise me. It's a shame because I always thought they had the best one. This has always been the case, as the park only owns three trains for the entire ride. I don't think they've done "two-train" operations. As for the weather policy, I wasn't aware it had changed so dramatically. Kennywood used to have a very liberal policy in regard to rain. I guess Palace/Parques Reunidos doesn't want a repeat of the 2002 incident with the Whip roof. It used to be that nearly everything was open in rain. It's such a shame that the new ownership has turned Kennywood into a place to avoid instead of a place to visit. It's my home park, and I didn't even bother to go this year because of how crappy the place has become.
  6. ^ That would be a good idea. The Vortex rides aren't terrible, but they've run their course at their respective parks. A small floorless would fit in very well here.
  7. ^ I don't think a Sky Rocket clone would do well here. They need a larger ride with higher capacity.
  8. Untamed - Canobie Lake Park
  9. Of the two Boomerangs with new trains I've ridden (Carolina Cobra and Sidewinder), Sidewinder improved far more (to the point where I actually debated a second ride!). With how bad Knotts' Boomerang is, either that Schäfer (the manufacturer of the new train for EqWalizer) or a new Vekoma train would really help it out. As for marketing, a new train doesn't really need it. Guests will see it and talk about it. However, if you're going to relocate it, you might as well get the new train since you're already marketing it as a new ride.
  10. $3.09 here in the fair town of Oakland, MD. Not much of a difference in the surrounding areas, though.
  11. Interesting culinary experiment last night. I made something that was a combination of a spaghetti pie, Shepard's pie, and quiche. It was very delicious, and I hope I will be able to duplicate it someday!
  12. True. The person below me has ridden Formula Rossa.
  13. Now in talks for a trip with a friend to go to the UAE for Ferrari World, Yas Waterworld, and some mall credit whoring. I'm really hoping IMG Worlds of Adventure will open on time, but I'm not counting on it. Nothing set in stone yet, but I'm really hoping to go.
  14. Ravine Flyer II - Waldameer
  15. I lost my phone on Alpengeist last May, and they never did find it. I had almost lost my glasses on it once, and it almost took my phone a few years prior. Third time's the charm, I guess. I've certainly learned my lesson about loose articles on Alpengeist.
  16. ^ I rode I-305 once in a drizzle, and it was horribly painful. I can't imagine what it would have been like in a torrential downpour! Your ride on Dominator reminds me of my first ride on it (back when it was Batman Knight Flight at Six Flags Worlds of Adventure!). It was pouring down rain and I had a front seat ride. Up to that point in my life, it was the most painful rain ride I had ever experienced.
  17. It definitely looks better than that orange and teal color scheme it had at SFA. I would like to see more rides painted with this gorgeous blue color.
  18. ^ Definitely odd. I wish they'd just go ahead and announce it already. I just hope they don't choose the Tempesto name. It sounds like a pasta dish.
  19. ^^ I like your wishlist. I think the Justice League dark ride and El Loco would work really well in the space between Batwing and Superman. If they really wanted to get crazy, they could build both in the same building with separating walls. I don't think a 400ft Sky Screamer would work, though. A smaller one would probably be better.
  20. No. I was supposed to be a ride op on Mean Streak in 2010, but cancelled for a higher paying job. Have you ever held a management position at a park?
  21. True. The person below has been to all of the current Six Flags parks.
  22. Even though it would be highly neglected, there's plenty of space for one at SFA. It would be nice for them to actually have something that's worth visiting for.
