Photo Trip Report: Nickelodeon Universe
KBrylczyk replied to JimmyBo's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
^ I saw a POV of that a few months ago. It gets so close to the roof I thought it'd hit every time, haha. -
^ Oh geeze, can you imagine the walkie talkie chatter? Or the people on Ka trains just sitting there watching and waiting forever for the gondolas to climb allllllllllllllll the way up, wait, then drop, then wait for the clear, then finally launch? That'd put a disgusting dent on capacity, to be sure.

Best Tower of Terror
KBrylczyk replied to GoBears's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well, I wouldn't go that far. Yes, they're inferior but the actual drop sequence is still a ton of fun. -
^ I'm not sure how High Roller's numbers are doing. Last I heard, three weeks ago, is that it was doing well enough but certainly not filling the enormous queue they built.

Evermore Park Coming to Utah in 2015

A park centered around magic in Mormon-land? Can't wait to see the protests. This looks extremely interesting, though. I'll be following this closely. -
six flags season pass question
KBrylczyk replied to amarci87's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ What he said. Basically envision the worst possible business model, then add rollercoasters. That's Six Flags. -
Crossposting from another forum - Sooooo, the Voodoo Zipline at Rio should open any day now. That's all well and good, except for the pricing - $27.49 before 5:30pm. $42.50 after 5:30pm. For a zipline. $42.50 for a zipline that isn't even a real zipline. Are you kidding me? And Caesars wonders why they're $24 billion in debt? It's because nobody wants to pay your ridiculous prices! I can guarantee that if this was $5-$10 a pop they'd sell out constantly. Same for High Roller. I've heard tons of complaints about the pricing there, but even I agree that a $35 nighttime ride for a half-hour ride is a WAY better deal than $42.50 for one minute of fun. I'd honestly rather give my money to Manhattan Express ($14) for two (or even three!) rides than pay that price for one ride on the Voodoo Zipline.

^ They've suspended new SoCal AP sales - http://www.ocregister.com/news/annual-614733-disney-passes.html I'm all for these changes. The demand is through the roof and so is the supply. By limiting those passes they'll surely piss off some people but it's definitely for the best of the parks and overall experience. When I visited the other week the place was kind of ridiculous in terms of crowds and crowd management. Thanks to the single rider lines and Fastpass the girlfriend and I were able to hit everything we wanted to, but large families would be stuck in the lines or fighting for Fastpasses that tend to disappear immediately (Radiator Springs Racers, anyone?). I'm thrilled to see they're focusing on the betterment of the guest experience than just selling a ridiculous quantity of local APs. Sure, people will complain about the price, but it's still an incredible deal for what you're getting.

Movie Park Germany Discussion Thread
KBrylczyk replied to apollo210's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yep, just like I thought. It's Kong 360 3D, minus an ape. Seeing the construction shot of the screen just confirmed it. Still, though, Movie Park Germany does an EXCELLENT job with their themeing and I would love to ride this. Hell, I want to revisit the park just to ride Mystery River! That's got to be my favorite rapids ride ever. -
Disney's California Adventure TR! We left Las Vegas around 12:30am on Sunday night and arrived in Anaheim around 4am. The reason for leaving so late was because I had to work until 10:30pm and the girlfriend had to work until 11:15pm. Yeah, entertainment jobs can be a pain sometimes. Anyway, we didn't feel like paying for a hotel for a 4 hour stay, so we parked behind a strip mall and got some sleep in my wonderfully roomy (HA!) Honda Civic. We woke up Monday morning and, after taking a nice and needed stretch outside of the car, drove to the Super 8 on Disneyland Drive where we had a room booked for Monday Night. The awesome people that work there said it was no problem to park in their lot all day Monday and Tuesday while we were at the parks so as to avoid the $16 per day parking fee. Thanks, duders! A quick 15 minute walk later and we were at Downtown Disney's Starbucks getting hyper-caffeinated. Super-huge coffees in tow, we headed to the ticket booths to spend some dollars. While waiting here we saw quite a large crowd outside of both Disneyland and California Adventure, not at all what we were expecting. Everything I had looked at had said these days would be completely dead. They were wrong. Luckily the lines were not excessive (aside form Radiator Springs Racers) and we were able to abuse Fastpass and single rider lines to have a good time anyway. Once inside California Adventure we went straight to the Grizzly River Run Fastpass to grab our World Of Color passes. We skipped right by Soarin' because, well, Soarin' blows, quite frankly. With World Of Color taken care of, we headed straight to Toy Story Midway Mania. Toy Story Midway Mania - Holy crap, only a 25 minute line?! I've never seen that before, nor have I ever been on this thing. We got in line and a half hour later we were on our way through the ride. Like everyone knows, it's a 3D shooting gallery. The vehicles have one hell of a whip when they spin around, but for the most part this ride is pretty lackluster. In between the screens there's really nothing going on. It's very much a masturbation simulator, what with the trigger mechanism and all. Sure, it's fun while you're doing it but afterwards you feel empty. After Midway Mania I was jonesin' for some real fun. You know what that means.... [vine] [/vine] Yep, Intamin awesomeness! California Screamin' - Dammit, Disney! What the hell?! GET THE DAMNED SOUNDTRACK WORKING AGAIN! Yes, it's still a fun ride, but the soundtrack adds so much more to the experience! Rant over. Moving right along, this ride is the perfect example of how much a coaster can change depending on where you sit. First ride was in the back row and it was fun but in a very family friendly way. We rode right away a second time with out Fastpasses and went to the front row and HOLY CRAP AIRTIME! Thanks to Disney's awesome bag policy, I got to witness my backpack float up from my feet to above our heads on the first hill! I was holding onto it, of course, but sheesh! Completely surprised us! Such a solid all-around ride. I love it. Side note - We rode California Screamin' multiple times throughout the day, and our last trip through was front row on the Purple train. This is apparently the only train with a working soundtrack. If you go, request purple, otherwise you won't hear anything but screams. One more note about the soundtrack - Back in 2011 every train had it working fine. Last September it was only the purple train with a working soundtrack, same as this visit. How hard is it to fix this? Get on it, Disney! Radiator Springs Racers - Such a fun ride with awesome animatronics. We rode three times throughout the day, single rider line every time (they ran out of Fastpasses by 11am). The racing finale is excellent and there's some great airtime on those hills and dips! It amazes me how popular this ride is. The standby line was a consistent 90+ minutes all day while Tower Of Terror, Screamin', Toy Story, etc all were under 30 minutes. Love this ride. [vine]https://vine.co/v/M6Ml1JeqJ1d[/vine] We headed to Tower Of Terror and grabbed some Fastpasses, then saw Aladdin was just about to begin, so we headed on it. Aladdin - Still a fun way to waste 45 minutes. Genie is always changing the jokes and he actually made Aladdin break character 5 times during the show. Some people don't enjoy it but I think the show is great. [vine]https://vine.co/v/M6MKIiHD9zt[/vine] [vine] [/vine] WITH A WORKING MAGIC CARPET FINALLY!!!!!!! [vine]https://vine.co/v/M6M552W95Hw[/vine] [vine]https://vine.co/v/M6MnPFuHvKw[/vine] Tower Of Terror - The preshow video was broken. I'm a fan of that, saves me 5 minutes, hahaha. Unfortunately only one of the concierges was in character. The rest were the regular happy Disney employees, which was disappointing. They're supposed to be creepy ghosts! Tons of airtime on this thing, though, which is excellent. I may hate the access hallway between the boiler room and elevator, but the actual ride is great. Monsters Inc - Fairly boring but still a way to waste some time. Goofy's Sky School - Holy crap this was a violent mouse! I don't recall there being any brakes until the end! It was awesome! Silly Symphony Swings - OK, adding the William Tell Overture to a wave swinger is officially awesome. The end. Mickey's Fun Wheel - Always ride the swinging cars, duh. Just because it's awesome - [vine] [/vine] Other notes - Mater's Towing was a pretty good whip ride but way too short of a cycle. Luigi's Flying Tires were completely pointless and impossible to steer. A Bug's Life was closed and instead was just a preview for Maleficent. Muppets was broken. And now, World Of Color. World Of Color - Holy balls. Alright, I've seen this show three times before and each time I was in the center or rear of the viewing area. I've always been a huge fan of this show (seriously don't get why some people hate it). This time, though, I decided we were going balls to the wall and got right up front. Well, not RIGHT up front since we arrived about a minute before the show began (decided to get one last ride on Radiator Springs Racers). We showed our blue Section Fast Passes and went as close as we could before getting stopped by the employee check for the dining package section. Basically, imagine the exact front center of the viewing area, then move five feet to the left and ten feet back from the fence. That's where we were. My brain broke. I spent the entire show with this dopey look on my face with my jaw agape and a huge grin, all while getting completely drenched by the 200-foot fountain right in front of us. I don't know what it is exactly, but this show really hits me deep. I think back to it, imagining the scenes and hearing the songs and I can't help but be extremely happy. The girlfriend said I looked, and I'm quoting, "pathetically, helplessly cute" while watching the show. I'm not sure if that's good or bad, but I don't care. I love this show more than I can put into words and if I could watch it every night I would. Now that I've been that close to the action, I can't see it from another area, either. I already warned the girlfriend that next time we go we're going to be right up against the fence getting even wetter. I can't friggin' wait. Starbucks awesomeness. In case you're unsure of how to make coffee, here's a handy dandy chart! Big crowd. Heh, bear left. Because bear. Shut down for refurb. So pretty! Mr. Potato Stoned Head. CAUGHT HIM BLINKING! Cars Land is seriously gorgeous. Looming over the kiddie area. Kinda strange. That one in the foreground is gonna whip like a dominatrix. Foreground - Madonna 1980s. Background - Madonna present day. Big ol' line for Radiator Springs Racers. Luckily single riders was only 15 minutes. These shrubs are awesome, btw. Themeing! Yawning face boiler. The fountains were raised up for maintenance. Awwwww, yiss. Awesome view with the sun setting. Cars Land is spectacular at night. One last trip for the night!

Orlando. I haven't been to DisneySea so I can't comment on that one (though it looks AMAZING), but California and France are exact copies and they screwed the pooch with the access hallway between the boiler room and elevator. Completely takes you out of the experience. Orlando has the better track design (two drops shafts, four show shafts) and the 5th Dimension room, which was the first use of their trackless tech that Pooh in Japan went on to perfect. Also the starfield effect is better in Orlando, I feel. California and Paris never get completely dark because the picture is too bright at the end of the hall. -

I still don't understand why Angry Birds Land is a thing. Aren't they a year behind the game's popularity? That's like making a Candy Crush Land for 2015. I'm pretty sure I'd enjoy The Swarm way more than you, just like Raptor, hahaha.
