Gardaland Discussion Thread

No! Not Sequoia Adventure! Sure, Ken and I almost strangled Robb when he made us ride it a second time in 2012, but it's such a rare and unique ride that it was actually kind of awesome. [youtu_be] [/youtu_be] -
New ride coming to Frontier City

Hmmmm, "flying." Inverted launched RMC woodie. -
Holiday Park doesn't have nearly the amount of guests that BGW does. I've not ridden one of these rides myself but they do look very fun, as you said. The concern on most people's minds here is the crippling capacity. We're talking less than 300 people per hour with quick dispatches. Meanwhile Alpie, Apollo, Nessie, Griffon, Verbolten, etc, all can pump over 1,000 people per hour. When those lines get above 2 hours with that capacity, can you imagine what this would end up with? Again, nothing against the experience of the ride. Busch will definitely be able to make it pretty and I'm sure it's a lot of fun, it's just a poor choice for a park of this size.

Photo TR - Las Vegas Foodie Fest
KBrylczyk replied to KBrylczyk's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ I have no idea why our carnivals are so poor. There are a few that are actually pretty well done, but for the most part you're correct. You should see the ones that go to Walmart parking lots...eesh. -
The Las Vegas Foodie Fest is in town this weekend. Basically it's an annual event where every food truck in the city parks in the lot across from Luxor and sells their food at higher-than-usual prices, all in the name of getting people to try new food they otherwise wouldn't have. But let's forget about all that nonsense for now. There's also a few carnival rides, including two credits. There was a Flitzer, a kiddie Dragon coaster, Ring of Fire, Gravitron, Yo-Yo,Fun House, Ferris Wheel, Fun Slide, Orbiter, and a few smaller kiddie rides. Nothing crazy, but enough to warrant my paying $10 at the gate to take a look around. Oh, speaking of which, yeah, there's a gate charge for the festival based around food and it doesn't even include a sample of any food. Basically they make you pay for the privilege of paying even more than normal prices for food. Let's just say it's kind of a ripoff. There was a Dole Whip stand, though, so that made me smile. On with the pictures! An extremely rickety Ring Of Fire. Change of underwear recommended after riding. I swore this thing was going to topple over while I was on it. Deep-fried everything stands ('MURICA!) with the strip's tallest Ferris Wheel in the background. Yeah, Ferris Wheel, not Observation Wheel. Records being broken all up in this place. Yes, let the rickety-ness seep into your soul. The Yo-Yo. I didn't bother ponying up the cash for this bundle o' death, and judging by the crowd, I made the right decision. I haven't seen an Orbiter in years! Once this thing got going it was pretty darn wicked! Largest Ferris Wheel on the strip, with the remains of SkyVue Observation Wheel in the background. There was a Gravitron, which is another ride I skipped. Once you've ridden one you've ridden them all, and I didn't feel like paying $5 to do it again. Creepiest thing I saw there. The monster on the left has sharpened teeth! Another super-rickety ride, the Flitzer. Nothing special to report, but it sure did like to groan as the cars zipped around the track. I'm not sure if it's going to stay in one piece all weekend. Am I that much of a dirty whore? No. No I'm not. But hey, look! Picture!

^ Oh, we have our own set of water-related problems. Far, far worse than Indiana's, haha. -

Wait, a town that's right by the Ohio River and has a ton of lakes gets droughts that are that damaging? I'm not exactly an expert, but I'm having trouble seeing how this works out. -

Awesome footage, Hanno! The ridercam proves that this is an airtime machine, just like I was suspecting. June can't come soon enough! -

Very true. I haven't done a side-by-side comparison but it also looks like the second launch has more of a kick, though it could just be an illusion from the night setting. -

Now that's how you do a commercial for a coaster! I'm gonna be so upset when I realize that I need to divide my time between this and Balder. Hey, Robb, Elissa, can we just stay at Liseberg for a week during the tour? -

Nope. I've gotta get back to Vegas so I can start saving for Japan. -
Or you get lucky and end up with Raptor. I love that ride and was really surprised by it. However that's mostly from the themeing they invested on it. If you took away the scenery, the lake, the fog, and the GUARDS SHOOTING AT YOU CAUSING WATER GEYSERS TO ERUPT IN YOUR FACE, it wouldn't be nearly as memorable. But this is Six Flags. What's themeing?
