Universal Studios Singapore Discussion Thread

^ Inverted Gringott's. Heard it here first. -
^ If there's one thing I've learned it's that all of the crowd forecasts and live reports are not to be trusted. Sure, sometimes they're spot on, but by the same token they can't predict the future. For instance, take my last visit to the Disneyland Resort in early May. Everything I had looked at pointed to the place being a complete ghost town. It was the time between spring break and summer vacation, kids were in school, right? Wrong, big time. Both days the parks were hugely packed and lines were quite long all around in both parks. Luckily we know our way around Fastpass and single rider lines so the trip was still fun as we managed to get on everything that wasn't shut down (that's a whole other story), but compared to our trip in mid-September last year where the parks actually were empty it was a bit of a disappointment. We're talking going from riding Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy about 15 times in one day to riding twice. Not just Space Mountain, but every ride. September was incredible, May was fun but still annoying, haha. Just goes to show that anything can happen whenever.

^ Thank you very much for that. Unfortunately it does not come with any real new information, though. The question still stands about just how the restraint completely failed. Even if the locking mechanisms for the hydraulics unlocked the seatbelt should have done its job. Those Intamin belts aren't your typical "hit the button" release. You need coordination to unlock them. Very strange, indeed.

Ahhhhhhhhh, Chile. I read the title as Fiabilandia in Italy. My bad. I'm aware of the flipped seasons.

Favorite Shuttle Coaster

Poltergeist at Dorney. Rode it as the original Superman at Geauga Lake and again a few years ago at its new home and it's still one of my favorites. The straight reverse spike with the brake is much better than Wicked Twister. -
Should coaster entrances have weight scales?

^ Seriously, Soarin' is a joke, but the GP love the hell out of it. I don't understand why. Sure, the idea is cool and the takeoff effect is fun if you're in the first or second row, but the actual film is CRAP! Jump cuts like no tomorrow. I'm shocked that Disney allowed such an amateur effort. I mean, it's a fairly simple solution. Just have the film fly into the clouds for a scene change. Going from flying over skiiers on a snow covered mountain to instantly being over orange groves is a huge system shock and completely takes out any immersion. It would also help if they stabilized the footage. There's some scenes where the camera is a bit bumpy.

^ Thanks for the heads up. I've never been through that whole area, to be honest. I've always stayed at one of the hotels across Ball Road and just walk to the parks (saves $16 on parking daily). Last time we visited in May we stopped at the Denny's simply because it was the only thing still open. Needed some food and caffeine to make the 4 hour trip back to Vegas that night, haha.
