Movie Park Germany Discussion Thread
KBrylczyk replied to apollo210's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
THAT IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Like, seriously awesome! They took the King Kong 360 technology and expanded on it in a HUGE way! Huge congratulations to Movie Park Germany! I can't wait to get back and give this a try myself! I also love the surprise at the very end. -
What about an upside down launch?
KBrylczyk replied to Superbatboy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I highly doubt it's impossible, it's just one of those things that nobody wants to touch with a 10-foot pole because of how extraordinarily uncomfortable it would be. -
When did you last go through? My first visit was pretty bad. The sets were cool but there was a severe lack of actors. My second and third trips were like a whole different experience! The second and third visits were after they changed the policy so the house is only open for an hour and a half at a time, allowing the cast to take breaks together and have the house be full of actors when the public is allowed in.

Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread
KBrylczyk replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm not nitpicking, nor would I have preferred a flyer. Nor am I targeting Holiday World. It's something I've noticed that's a shame since Raptor is such a great ride but the thing that MAKES it great (the constant close calls, interaction with the plaza, geysers and fountains galore) hasn't been embraced. Personally I couldn't care less about whether it's a flyer or a wingrider. They're both sub-par experiences unless they're done right (and I have yet to see a flyer done right). -

Anyone else feel this would work much better as a flying coaster? Hear me out. Between this and Wild Eagle at Dollywood, it's like the parks aren't sure what a wingrider is best used for. That is close calls with the environmental elements around the ride. Raptor does this perfectly, as do a few of the other ones (Gatekeeper). Thunderbird here will have the barn, sure, but the vast majority of the ride is spent on oversized elements that do nothing to enhance the design of the train. Imagine if you went through this same layout on the flyer trains. The launch would be spectacular into that immelmann! The large, swooping turns that are high up would also be great! It's a nice design and definitely going to be a hit, but I feel like they just planted the wrong train on the track. -

Looks pretty flippin' sweet! Now I'm wondering if they have animatronics in the ride or if those were just there for the opening event. Also, look at this dude's feet. I giggled. -

^ They're building something big. It'll be announced tomorrow night. The end. -
Exactly! People have unrealistic expectations for MM, I said this a while back on this very thread and was told I didn't know enough about parks and I was making excuses for MM I know, f^$# me, right? How dare I expect a clean park that knows how to operate their rides while treating their guests with some decency?

I was thinking more "merge Magic Kingdom's castle with Disneyland Paris' Disneyland Hotel." It does look purty, though! -
West Coast Bash 2014 - TICKETS ON SALE!

^ Yeah! It's a new game this year! It's called "Bend over and take it raw" and it's trademarked by Six Flags. It's not WCB-Exclusive, though, unfortunately, so apologies for that. -
Well deserved drop. I said in on Garbles' FB post and I'll say it again, I sincerely hope this company goes bankrupt again and this time they don't recover. The people in corporate have no idea how to properly run the chain and the people at the customer level have no idea how to make guests want to come back. Six Flags blows.

Bay Area's 2 parks?
KBrylczyk replied to Vmarc1279's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Um, seven million people live in the bay area. Do you just not like NoCal? Tell us your feelings on LA having four major theme parks with a population of 3.85 million. Houston had one, Six Flags in their infinite wisdom demolished it. Meanwhile, as DirkFunk said, they have the boardwalk and pier, plus a 3 hour drive to Fiesta Texas and 4 hour drive to Over Texas. That's hardly a stretch considering I have to go at least four hours for a decent park (live in Vegas). Phoenix is a friggin' ghost town. That place may claim to have people living there, but spend a day in that city and try telling me that again. I have no idea how that place even exists. The downtown area is spectacular! Well laid out, nice architecture, clean, etc, but the streets are empty! Half of the stores are closed, not because they're out of business, but just because. If a theme park opened there it would prosper for a month before the people of that area would go back into hiding. I'd swear they're half cockroach. (Apologies to anyone who lives in Phoenix, but seriously, WHERE ARE YOU?!) Miami wouldn't stand a chance. Orlando is only four hours away with the two biggest and baddest companies in the business. The best they could hope for is a Six Flags dumpster that gets overrun by the gangbanger wannabe teenagers in Miami. Long story short, you can't always get what you want. -
^ Oh wow, yeah that is a bit of a drive. 30 miles or so. Make sure you give yourself plenty of time to get to the park in the morning. The 5 is one of two major arteries between San Diego and LA and it gets insane. When we left the park at 10pm last week and drove up to Carlsbad (just south of Oceanside) there were still a good number of cars on the road. Learn to love those HOV lanes. I'm pretty sure they're available for that stretch of highway. In California HOV means 2 or more people (other places generally require 3), so you'll be fine. They're lifesavers. Since you're staying in Oceanside, why not make a trip to Legoland? I'm not sure of your schedule. If you check my TR in the Legoland thread you can get an idea of how it is currently (read - nice park, horrible ops). If you need a way to get 40% off tickets, too, I can send you the link I used.

^ I really hope you managed to find a decently priced hotel. Hell, the fact you were able to find a room at all and not be out in San Ysidro is nothing short of a miracle! It'll probably be slammed. My TR right above your post was from last Monday and people were being turned away from shows constantly because they had reached capacity. You shouldn't have a problem with the rides, though, since their ops are top notch.

^ 4K would definitely help the video. It was very poor resolution and out of focus last I rode. When you say 3D effects do you mean the sets like Orlando or did they make the video 3D, as well? That was a huge issue I had with the ride as it completely took you out of the action jumping from 3D to 2D, Well, that and the all-too-obvious zipper-effect changes between set and screen.

Any word yet on if this version of Forbidden Journey is any different? I'm 99.9% sure it's an identical copy, but since it's Japan and they've had a few years to tweak the system I'm curious if they went the extra mile. When I rode Orlando's a bunch in 2012 I noticed projection errors (chunks of the domes were missing images), screwy synching, and some animatronic issues. Granted, all of these issues happen and can never be completely fixed, it just seemed to have more hiccups than usual for Universal. Now if only they had the forethought to actually give the ride a story this time...
