Canada's Wonderland Discussion Thread

Even if it was real it would hardly be news. And definetly not bad news. Coasters valley all the time. Especially while testing a new ride during cold weather. Millenium Force at CP will valley during the spring/fall if an empty train is sent. They have to have the water dummies in during the morning or it won't clear the 2nd hill. It's no big deal. -
Andy Shine's Quiz Time
Carnage replied to Simon Baynham's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
18/20. Some were too easy. For instance: "Question: 12) George Cornelius Tilyou (1865-1914) opened his Steeplechase Park, at Coney Island, in what year?" Only one of the options was within his lifetime. As long as you read the question, you should be getting that one right. Same thing with the ice slides question. Three of the options are in warm climates. I doubt Spain or Australia would have been known for ice slides. -

What does the actual article say? While it's a good picture, it sure looks like the caption is taking a shot at the park. -
There is an option "search topic title only". It's in that first group of options on the right hand side.

Photo TR: Tagging along Big Mike's "Roadshow"
Carnage replied to sfne2005's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Did you try riding Thunderhead without Big Mike in the train? Perhaps his ego was slowing the train down. -
What are you talking about?? These what you're looking at? If so, those are just lights I believe.

Yeah, on the Deja Vu's the get to the far seats you have to walk in front of the next row of seats, which causes alot of confusion. On these you won't have that problem. As each row, and each train is separate. So it shouldn't be nearly as much of an issue. -
Waldameer Discussion Thread
Carnage replied to Millennium ForceJZ's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Sweet, I was hoping to stop at Waldameer on the 17th on my way to Cedar Point. Looks like I'll be there opening day. -
The giant frisbees do this as well. When they e-stop they go into a free swing mode. They just swing back and forth (without the spinning) until it finally slows down and stops on it's own. I haven't seen it personally, but I've heard it takes quite some time for it to fully stop.

On Ride Photo Bandits
Carnage replied to BrownStreak's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^^ There's so much wrong with that. This reminds me of the water park at the Alton Towers hotel. They had a sign saying "When buying pictures including kids younger then 10, the kid needs to be present". It's disturbing to think that a sign like that is required to keep these kind of freaks from buying stuff. -
On Ride Photo Bandits

So like 1992/1993ish? The picture quality would have been much worse back then. Were you buying those crappy polaroid on ride photos? -
My only thought after seeing the pic was: "Chess isn't played with four people"
-
Were you considering a tourist stop to see the falls on the trip? If so anyone who was interested could probably walk down there and check it out. Everything at Niagara Falls is walking distance.
-
They probably aren't willing to run one intense enough to make it good. The top spin at Dorney I went on a few years ago was tame as can be. A top spin run in tame mode is about as lame as can be. And when they are run intense they practically tear themselves apart.

^ Looks like he'll be 21 before he comes to the US. So that shouldn't be a problem for him.

There are many theme park manufacturers who have filed for bankruptcy and survived. It's a tough industry to be in. One failed product can bring a company to it's knees. I really enjoy the giant frisbees. But Sledge Hammer (Jump2) I found to be pretty meh. It looks alot more impressive then it actually is.

Was too hard to really tell from that video. If I had to guess though, I thought it looked more like an accelerometer strapped in to measure the g-forces. Didn't really look enough like a person to me. -
How far would you consider "close"? There's alot of quality theme parks on the east coast. Some of them really close, some of them more like a few hours away. Depends I guess on if you will have a car while you're over here, or depend on public transit. Many of the parks in the area will be into weekend operation by then though. Going longer distances won't be as easy or fun as it probably is in Europe. North America isn't known nearly as much for it's quality transit systems. As far as more touristy spots, you also have some interesting major cities like New York and Washington,DC. But again, depends on how far you want to travel. Regardless though, you shouldn't have a problem finding many interesting things to see/do. I'm sure you'll have a great time.

I'm not sure how Imageshack works, but with Flikr you're going to need to pay for an account. The free account only lets you post like 200 or so pictures. Well, you can upload as many as you want, but only the most recent 200 are available to view. I've used Flikr for a few months now and I really like it. I used it to replace the image hosting I was doing on my personal website, and have no complaints on the switch to Flikr.
