Insufficient restraints on coasters
Carnage replied to mattnz's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Case in point the new Superman:Ride of Steel restraints. -
Well the Friday the park is open till 10, where as Mon/Tue it's only open till 7. So you could end up getting more in on the Friday then on Tuesday. The three extra hours could offset the increased attndance on a Friday versus a Tuesday. Also being in the park Friday/Saturday would give you two days with night rides. Sunday/Monday/Tuesday the park will be closing just as it starts to get dark. But really it's a crap shoot. Both Friday and Tuesday should be fairly empty. But Tuesday obviously less busy then Friday.

^ Well even with a license, getting a rental car could be tricky. I think you have to be 25. Might be able to find a place though that rents to minors for an extra fee. If you're going to fly you should be able to choose pretty much anywhere. Pick some places you would really like to see, and then look into what public transport is like. Though obviously, the bigger the city, the easier transportation will be. If you pick a more backwoods area then transportation access be less then ideal.

Grand Theft Auto IV on PS3 and 360
Carnage replied to verticalzero's topic in Random, Random, Random
It won't be coming out on PS2. The game was designed as a next-gen game. The graphics and gameplay require the more powerful PS3/360 hardware. A PS2 wouldn't be able to play such a game without castrating the graphics and gameplay. The majority of new games are not going to be coming out on the PS2/Xbox. Those systems are out of date, and won't be able to run the most recent games. (with few exceptions) -

The game isn't being released until April 29th. It's only pure speculation until that point. No one knows. -
Robb & Jahan Go To White Castle
Carnage replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
You don't have to. There's one in Taylor, Michigan not a mile from I-75. So, next time you're headed to Cedar Point... Looks far too close to the border to me. Would clash with my policy of getting the hell through Detroit as fast as possible. It was an adventure enough going to White Castle in Monroe last year. I refuse to get off of I-75 until I'm well clear of Detroit. Most times I gas up in Windsor just to make sure that I don't have to stop before Sandusky. -

Building a tolerance for something does not make the substance good. Alcoholics could have a drink without the same problems that most others would. A drug addict will have less of an affect then someone trying one for the first time. Coffee barely does anything for me, though gives a boost to those that don't require it multiple times a day. Back when I smoked, I wouldn't even get so much of a buzz from a cigarette. But when I was first starting, it would give me a wicked buzz. -
Sorry, I missed that you had a shuffle. I was assuming you had a standard sized iPod.

Did the battery run out on it? Try resetting it. (hold the menu and center button for about 10 seconds) If the battery fully discharges, windows won't detect it. I've had it happen once. Hope that helps.

New TPR DVD! What's In A Brain?
Carnage replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This seems as good a spot as any to put my review of "What's in a Brain". I finally got around to ordering, and watching Guy's DVD. And it definetly didn't disappoint. Let's just get out of the way though what this DVD isn't. It isn't your average, "nothing but typical coaster shots" type DVD. If you're expecting 60 minutes worth of in depth coverage of exactly what these parks have to offer, well that's not what you're going to find. Although that being said, there is plenty of decent coaster footage in here. Now,on to what this DVD is. This DVD is a twisted, sometimes demented by-product of Guy's twisted mind. It is as creative, and "outside the box" as you will find in a coaster video. In fact, even calling it a coaster DVD isn't doing it justice. It's just an out there, interesting, entertaining, and creative video, that just so happens to talk about coasters. If you want to watch shot after shot of typical coaster porn, then look elsewhere. If you want to watch something creative, and different, then watch Guy's DVD. I for one can't wait for Guy's next offering. I'm sure it will entertain us in new, and unforeseen ways. -
Cedar Point - Is it worth it?
Carnage replied to orangeblue's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ Mid August would be better then late July. But only slightly. The rain is very erratic. Being on the lake means that weather systems can roll in at any time. It could be sunny all day, or it could rain here and there, or it could pour non stop all day. But in August it's more likely to be sunny, humid, and horrendously sticky all day. Then POUR overnight. -
Robb & Jahan Go To White Castle

I was totally hooked after our two stops there on the way across and back Wisconsin last August. I'd go back to Wisconsin just for Culvers. Thanks Matt for getting me hooked on a restaurant which is like 12 hours away. -
Parks that don't allow just anyone to enter...
Carnage replied to cathyJ's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
And on the other side of the coin, some parks let adults on kiddy rides that shouldn't. I've had two kiddy coaster incidents. One was the happy gator incident at Coney Beach where we valleyed it, and I had to bail out. The other was at Quassy, where we actually rolled the kiddy coaster back down the lift hill. The train actually slipped off the chain and bounced and slid back down into the station. In both cases they probably shouldn't have let us ride. Or at least not so many of us. The Quassy one the rideop said we could ride, but only 3 adults at a time. Then he waved 5 us in to ride ... -
Pasting into word/notepad,etc is an even better solution for when making a long post. The problem about just copying is that the clipboard can be fairly volatile. If the browser crashes, you will lose what is in the clipboard. Or if you are multi-tasking, and copy something in a different application it can clear the clipboard. I thought all the videos were well done. Though I can't think of any specific comments off hand.

Parks that don't allow just anyone to enter...
Carnage replied to cathyJ's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That wouldn't surprise me that much. The following picture was taken on a warm Sunday in June. Notice the single cloud in the sky contradicting what the damn sign is saying. -
So you're a vulture then. Getting excited over events causing people serious harm. Kind of like ambulance chaser lawyers, trying to profit off of someone else's pain. I'm sure the families of the victims would love to know there's some guy in the TV station going "Awesome! A tornado!! I can direct the cut in to the story of pain and death!".

Parking is included at Breakers Express only if you get a ticket package. If you get just the room, parking is not refunded. -

Carnage replied to orangeblue's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
You don't have to stay at Breakers to get ERT. You can stay at the much cheaper Breakers Express and get the same ERT. Crowds in June should not be too brutal. The major rides like MF, TTD,Maverick are going to have decent lines. But some of the lesser rides shouldn't be too packed. Two days in June should be enough to do everything. -

Sure, sure, blame someone else. How convenient. Nice shots of the ferris wheel. -
I wouldn't exactly call that fun. This year we pretty much had three months straight of subzero temps. And were getting pounded once every week by massive snow storms. One time it didn't stop snowing for over two days. These storms slow driving down to a crawl. I had a few commutes home from work that took me an hour to go just a couple miles. Plus water damage was a serious risk for most of the winter because of the build up of snow. And still is as all the snow starts to melt, an flooding starts. Plus snow means bad driving conditions, and a much higher risk of accidents. I had to spend $300 the other day to repair my exhaust system which was damaged getting my car out of deep snow. Snow like we had this past winter will get on your nerves very quickly. But hey, if you consider if fun to dig your car out of a two foot wide snow wall left by the snow plow, well whatever floats your boat.

What do you mean you want to see a blizzard?? You live in Indiana, so you've seen snow. And surely you've experienced a few blizzards every year. A blizzard isn't some massive tornado of snow or anything. It's just hard snow, and lots of it.
