  1. I found this project very well-suited to one of the cornerstones of my artistic philosophy: When in doubt, draw a cat.
  2. I don't have plans to buy an iPad. However, there is a good chance the next generation will end up in my household at some point. I look forward to viewing TPR:TM on the iPad at this unknown time in the future.
  3. Honestly, the loss of a classic coaster always saddens me. However, I understand that it isn't practical to save the Big Dipper. Basically, this sums up my mindset: I didn't go of my way to support its preservation, but if it had somehow "magically" been saved I would've been pleased.
  4. ^Yes. Especially the "melting pot of awesome" part. I honestly didn't pick up on an overall theme at the park although the themed elements are certainly well-done. Overall, it simply personifies a classic, traditional amusement park.
  5. This sums up how I feel about the park. I didn't really 'get' the coasters as much as I had been hoping to, but I loved the park as a whole. I'm enjoying the TR, Chuck!
  6. My top tier Giant Dipper (SCBB) Timber Terror Voyage Evel Knievel Powder Keg Others I appreciate Cyclops Tornado (Adventureland) Mamba Tremors Coaster Thrill Ride Goliath (SFMM) Hellcat Outlaw Hades
  7. Because the word "cupholder" was already taken. Why are potholders called "potholders" and not "panholders"?
  8. I don't geocache, since I fail at navigation. However, I have looked through one located at my family's cemetery.
  9. I really like Worlds of Fun, especially at night. I love Mamba and Prowler. Prowler is the most intense GCI I've ever experienced, and possibly one of the most intense woodies I've ridden overall. I also enjoyed Timber Wolf. It has some great airtime and a nice layout, but unfortunately it's disturbingly rough. Riding defensively is a must, although that doesn't change how I rate it.
  10. I'm simple; my favorite are Peanut M&Ms. I'm now interested in trying some of these more unusual flavors! So far I believe I've only had original, Peanut, Peanut Butter, and Pretzel.
  11. I think this is pretty exciting! I've ridden one Eurofighter and I'm certainly interested in riding more. I'd rather parks didn't use so many identical/similar ride names, especially for entirely different ride types. That said, I like the look of the name and logo.
  12. ^^^^Hurricane (I knew this from its appearance) at Adventureland (I know this because I did a search on RCDB). Personally...I kind of like the Hurricane model.
  13. I didn't care for Powder Keg at first, and I quickly labeled it overrated. However, I rode it later in the day and loved it! I believe it has earned a spot in my top 10, and it's certainly within my top 2-3 steelies of the trip. Great station, interesting beginning, profuse airtime...and that ejector-y turn that Oli mentioned is quite the rush.
  14. Tornado at Adventureland: This is still one of the better airtime coasters I have ridden, and it has buzz bars! Outlaw at Adventureland: Not rated terribly, but not mentioned too often either. There's really nothing to dislike other than some roughness. Good airtime including some exciting ejector. And despite being newer, it has buzz bars too! Mamba at Worlds of Fun: Great airtime, especially in the ejector seat, not to mention some intense headchoppers for extra fun! The airtime is actually pretty consistent throughout the course, never getting completely killed. Timber Wolf at Worlds of Fun: Yes, there are plenty of comparable coasters that don't try to kill you, but I personally don't think this coaster merits the hate it receives. There's still plenty of airtime throughout its lengthy layout. Coaster Thrill Ride at Puyallup Fair: While by no means the greatest, it certainly deserves praise. Plenty of average airtime plus one intense pop of stand-up air. Invertigos & GIBs: Both non-standard Boomerang types are thrilling, especially GIBs, and the roughness is survivable.
  15. ^Seconded! It's bewildering, yet strangely amusing. Or something.
  16. Like many people, I love Giant Dipper's disorienting, pitch-black pre-lift tunnel. It gets me every time. Other contenders: Powder Keg and ThuNderaTion...if they count.
  17. Oregon (home state) Washington California Nevada Idaho Montana Wyoming Utah Colorado Arizona New Mexico Texas Louisiana Illinois Maryland Delaware Virginia Minnesota Iowa Missouri Indiana Wisconsin I have been to 22 states (plus Washington, DC). I'm surprised and a bit disappointed that I still haven't been to half! I still have only 10 coaster states, but hey, that's one in five (or better if you subtract the states without coasters).
  18. Knott's Berry Farm Adventure City Scandia Amusement Park Six Flags Magic Mountain Silverwood Theme Park Tigard Balloon Festival (Funtastic carnival) Washington County Fair (Funtastic carnival) Nickelodeon Universe Adventureland Worlds of Fun (two visits) Silver Dollar City Six Flags St. Louis Holiday World Indiana Beach Six Flags Great America Mt. Olympus Water & Theme Park Timber Falls Adventure Park Knuckleheads Bowling & Family Entertainment Center Valleyfair! Puyallup Fair Playland at the PNE No credits Riverfront Park
  19. I agree with you wholeheartedly about Holiday World and its coasters. I mean, practically word for word--it's uncanny! Enjoyed your reviews, photos, and captions. Glad you had a good trip!
  20. 1. Voyage: I do find it rough and painful, but I don't care. It's easily the most amazing coaster I've ever ridden, and either my favorite or second favorite woodie (and possibly overall). It's relentless. Honorable mentions: Flight Deck (CGA): I've been on six Bolliger & Mabillard inverts, including three Batmans, and this is the only one to make me grey out. That happened to me on several other CGA coasters because of the heat, but I've heard it's not uncommon on Flight Deck so I chalk it up largely to the intensity of the ride. Tatsu: This is overall a somewhat mild, even relaxing coaster, but that pretzel loop takes my breath away even as I'm about to scream. I can actually scream on S:UF's pretzel, but even that one is pleasingly intense. Prowler: This is one of at least a few "perfect twisters" that GCI has made, and I feel it has the most intense character of the 5 I've ridden. Great first drop, decent airtime, plenty of unexpected twists and changes in direction... Legend: Like Voyage, this is another "WTF" ride to me. Unlike Voyage it's not the greatest coaster I've ridden, but its unpredictability makes it quite endearing to me. X2: I do feel this ride is somewhat gimmicky and I could see it becoming tamer and seeming more 'normal' the more I ride it. However, it's still the best and most intimidating steel I've ever ridden.
  21. Because you hate really affectionate cats. Where did babies come from in the old days before they invented storks?
  22. Wow, Lakeside looks even more beautiful than I had always thought! I must get there as soon as possible. It seems to have a great collection of classic flats, especially for the western United States. I'd probably check out Elitch's as well if I had the chance, for the Arrow shuttle if nothing else. Thanks for the TR!
  23. It seems that another enthusiast noticed this a while back, and realized the stats are for Steel Force. www.ultimaterollercoaster.com/forums/cgi/forum1.cgi?read=204519 Not sure if it's a random mistake or if there's some bizarre logic behind it.
  24. ^I am very much into horrorcore so I may have to check that out. That said, it definitely does not seem to be a popular genre among TPR members.
