  1. I'd been wondering why you guys would choose a trip to Wisconsin of all places. But now, I think I understand. Looks like you're having a great time!
  2. States 1. California Honorable mentions: Oregon, Washington, Illinois, Maryland, Texas Cities Seattle, Washington Chicago, Illinois Ocean City, Maryland Portland, Oregon Vancouver, British Columbia Regions Northern California Southern California Wishlist I'm currently most interested in chasing coasters and visiting friends and family. My top coaster destinations (partly based on convenience) are: - Anything (and hopefully everything) in the United States - All major/notable Canadian parks and coasters (La Ronde, CW, Galaxyland, Upper Clements Park) - United Kingdom - Mainland Europe
  3. 1. Olives 2. Dates Unranked Strawberries Watermelon Blackberries Raspberries Cranberries Cherries Guava Pomelo Figs Pineapple Apples Bananas Honeydew Cantaloupe
  4. Overall, I judge coasters by how fun they are. Airtime and intensity factor highly into this. If a coaster has notable levels of either or both, I'm likely to find it fun. "Intensity" to me includes surprise drops, unpredictable changes of direction, extreme angles, ejector airtime, headchoppers, sensation of speed, and plenty of other factors. I like twisters with lots of airtime. Evel Knievel is a perfect example of this. It's also very "approachable" and rerideable. Length isn't necessarily all that important, but one reason I love Voyage is that it goes on and on...and on, with a thrilling mixture of elements. I'll leave the criticism to others as I love this ride despite its problems.
  5. I love classic rides, and this TR opened my eyes to a few I've never heard of before. This place is now on my wishlist. Thanks for bringing it to my attention!
  6. ^Isn't there a John's Incredible Pizza Co. in Roseville? Credit + Buffet = WIN!
  7. I rode Pole Position (owned by Butler Amusements) at the California State Fair last year and found it pretty boring. Apart from that one, I find most spinners to provide a slightly above average coaster experience. They're fun, but not something for me to get excited about anymore. Ragin' Cajun is my favorite because of the intense spinning.
  8. Last Saturday I attended Fright Nights at PNE Playland, which is open nightly through October 31. Although I went solely to ride the coasters, I really appreciated how the park was all decked out for Halloween. The decorations and the darkness created the perfect atmosphere for night rides on Coaster. Entry facade Haunted Mansion, one of several Halloween attractions. Don't tell Disney about this one. Talking animatronic that frequently spewed fog
  9. Born 2 Ride - Psychopathic Rydas
  10. I'm Waiting For The Man - The Velvet Underground
  11. For some reason, I don't feel that most coasters run significantly better at night. Maybe I'm just not "coaster sensitive" enough. Instead, I simply love the atmosphere that riding in the dark provides, particularly during ERT. Some great night ERT sessions I've had include Raging Bull, Prowler, Viper at SFGAm, and Renegade. Other than that, my favorite night riding session was on Coaster at Playland. That was perfection.
  12. ^Although I enjoy Deja Vu, it's the coaster I'd be most likely to skip next time I visit (other than Canyon Blaster, of course). I've ridden Aftershock more recently, and for whatever reason I like it more than Vu.
  13. I LOL'd at "The food here was f*cking huge." Very true very true. It was definitely too much for me, but the rolls made the visit worthwhile!
  14. ^^I just did my coasters-per-year statistics. This year I rode 103 coasters, 95 of which were new to me. (Due to counting peculiarities which have now been fully resolved, I added 97 new credits.)
  15. Check out the Rock-o-Plane! I love this classic flat! Also, if you're at all interested in catching and throwing the ring(s), the carousel is almost like a thrill ride. At least to me.
  16. ^I thought it was excellent. Exactly as it's always been described, with extreme airtime on practically every drop.
  17. I have no problem with the ride being called Cheetah Hunt. I just wanted to say that.
  18. Wow! Is there any chance this isn't true? (I'm not too good at evaluating stuff like this, so sorry if that's a dumb question.) If it is true, I look forward to the official announcement! With this news, I'll definitely try my best to get down there again next year!
  19. I have yet to take Five Guys into my mouth. Oh, well, there's a first time for everything...
  20. ^That's what I was thinking when I first saw the thread title.
  21. I'm also hoping for a coaster. Of the rides mentioned, I vote for an El Loco!
  22. Considering the entire ride, not just the launch, here are my rankings and ratings: 01. California Screamin' (9/10) 02. Powder Keg (9/10) 03. Mr. Freeze @ SFStL (9/10) 04. Montezooma's Revenge (7/10) 05. V2: Vertical Velocity (7/10) 06. Steel Venom (7/10) 07. Vertical Velocity (7/10) 08. Avatar Airbender (6/10) 09. Superman: The Escape (6/10) 10. Pony Express (2/10)
  23. These are the seats I will usually try my best to get, although it's not too common for me to outright insist on them: 1. Magic seat/ejector seat, if one is rumored to exist 2. Back 3. Front Basically, I usually choose based partly on the desirability of the row to me and partly based on the queue length for that row compared to others'. Sometimes I will wait longer for my desired row, sometimes I will opt for the shortest wait, and sometimes it's a compromise. Evel Knievel: Front Mr. Freeze: Front; or, barring that, front of a given car Tremors: Front, although it's also very good in the back Timber Terror: Front and back; it's well worth sacrificing the airtime on the first drop in exchange for the intense airtime the front provides throughout the rest of the course Floorless coasters: Front edge because of the near-misses with the track, back for the forces V2: Vertical Velocity: Front, back, and 4th row (the 4th row supposedly provides the most intense hangtime) Most wooden coasters: Back is first priority, front is second priority (some also have an "ejector seat" of 1.3, and in some the second to the back is better than the back) Shuttle coasters: Back, and front if there's a chance. I like the back for the psychological intensity of the height, and getting either the front or the back so I can "credit" myself for the full height Inverts: Back or front, but I don't care too much about the visuals on any coaster unless they are particularly intimidating Coaster Thrill Ride: Back Cyclops: Back Raging Bull: Back Voyage: Back Morgan hypers: 1.3 (the "ejector seat", same as Magnum) Viper (SFMM): 5.1 (the official "magic seat", although 6.1 and 7.1 are rumored to be equally magical) Arrow loopers: front row of one of the back three cars, just in case it provides the magical experience that Viper's magic seat does Four-across rows: Edge seat in chosen row
  24. I'm happy the park is getting a new thrill ride, but I won't be planning a visit around it. However, I'll make a point of riding it whenever I end up at SFDK next. Their current flat ride collection is pretty lackluster in the thrill department. My favorite is Hammerhead Shark but even that became somewhat tame by my second ride on it. I wouldn't mind the removal of Cobra. It's actually one of my least favorite coasters (yes, even in comparison to other kiddie coasters). I'm not saying it's a bad fit for the park, as I'm certainly not the intended target audience, but I always found it completely boring and too heavy on the laterals.
