  1. ^^Sounds like I'm lucky I attended one of their infamous "empty" days, with walk-ons for plenty of rides. Perfect.
  2. That's exactly what I think of Millennium Force. Then again, that doesn't stop me from loving it. On the one hand, some factors such as the extra height, steepness of the drop, near-inversion overbanks and ridiculous speed did make me think "this is something special." On the other hand, airtime-wise it was no better than a typical hyper. I still maintain that whether Leviathan rides basically the same as a hyper or it clearly brings something unique to the table, I'll enjoy it either way.
  3. ^I agree overall, but haven't we heard that Fireball is getting rough already? I'm sure I've seen that reported somewhere. What'd you think of it, chipcoaster?
  4. I've taken to looking through the small gospel section (or whatever they label it) at my local record store. Sometimes they'll put in an album or two from artists that appeal to those who like hard or alternative Christian music. Strangely, I once found a copy of "Revolution, I Think It's Called Inspiration" by Inquisition in there. At the time, I assumed they must be another Christian punk band, but I actually can't find any evidence of this.
  5. ^That's one of my top favorites. So iconic. ^^I went to about four last year of varying types and sizes. It's hard to keep track of everything planned around here!
  6. Surprisingly enough, I do have a few of those parks and coasters, though nowhere near enough to "win," I see. 4 Parks: Fun Town at Micke Grove, Funderland, Remlinger Farms, Knuckleheads. 14 Coasters: Roller Coaster at Fun Town, Flying Dragon at Funderland, Dragon at Traintown, Little Dipper at SFGAm, Prowler at WOF, Wacky Worm at Gillian's FunLand, Fiesta Express at Gillian's Wonderland, Soarin' Eagle at Scream Zone, Sky Rocket at Kennywood, Mine Twister at Remlinger Farms, Dragon at Riverfront Park, Miner Mike at Knuckleheads, Hades at Mt. Olympus, Opa at Mt. Olympus. I have no idea what to make of this!
  7. Excitement! It looks incredibly fast, and those turns all look so exhilarating.
  8. ^I particularly admire 57-61 American cars (plus plenty from surrounding years), especially from Cadillac and Chevrolet. I like going to shows every once in a while hoping to spot some favorites.
  9. ^It sure would be nice if they'd at least put in the tunnels they'd originally planned to. I think it's a shame when parks don't deliver on their theming "promises." I understand that budget-wise, it must work out better for some parks or they wouldn't make that choice, and the important thing is that people ride the rides. But it's still a disappointment.
  10. I love the look of the theming! The coaster collection seems pretty decent, too. Is that a Mega-Lite?
  11. I'm glad the fair is dedicated to caring for this charming little coaster, though I'll miss the chipped white paint. The ride was smooth to begin with, but the new wood is even smoother! From a purist standpoint, though, I will admit I regret the addition of individual seatbelts and light padding on the lap bars. By the way, I hope someone snatches up Monster Mouse and puts it back in operation!
  12. So...who else got a special delivery today?
  13. I love Sea Lion Caves! Sea lions are such characters. I hope I get a chance to spot some more this year.
  14. Scratch that then; I'll have to take a better look next time. I'm kinda critical of orange coasters, so... Nice restraint picture! I sure hope it's as comfy as one would expect.
  15. ^Is it because it used to only be an animal park? Or was it a challenging layout back then as well? I don't remember it being confusing as Marine World Africa USA, but then again, I doubt I was ever in much of a hurry back then...
  16. ^What about Fahrenheit? I have a picture of it where it looks nearly red. Has it faded, or is that just my imagination?
  17. ^Nice! I like the way those hills look parallel. But I don't like how Dragon Khan's lift hill looks like a Boomerang spike.
  18. ^Wow! Sorry I mentioned it then (but yeah, not your fault). Well, I was really just bitter because the first time I visited the park as SFDK, I didn't even see Boomerang. On subsequent visits it took me forever to remember it's nestled away from the two main coaster sections among the family flat rides.
  19. ^I hear you on that issue. Even worse, several bands I love have put off albums so long that the music ends up a completely different style from what I originally appreciated them for. Just to rant, here are a few examples (sorry for the MySpace links, but that's hardly my fault): -I knew about a new Dingees album in the works for years before it finally came out. They teased with a few songs online, but that was all. The album was a departure from the vibe of theirs I had grown to love, though I'm sure some would call it equal, perhaps even an improvement (it's certainly no more mainstream; in fact, inherently less so). -I knew a new album by The Havoc was planned, but by the time it finally came out, their style had changed somewhat from the street punk I loved. Plus, the album was only a short EP, and partly consisted of a cover song and live versions of previous songs. And after its release, they broke up, forming a new band in a completely different style. -A new Transplants album was rumored for quite some time, with different album titles and even release timeframes mentioned in the last few years. However, it seems that only now are they truly serious about releasing it soon. I think Travis Barker's solo album last year was one of the last projects to sideline this one.
  20. I've largely given up on the idea of park maps, including SFDK's, actually helping me navigate. I have the same problem with signs in the parks, especially at SFDK and SFMM. Sometimes, you can't even find one sign until you're already close to a ride anyway (though not necessarily close enough that it actually helps you find it). Other times, you can only find a single sign far away from a given ride that only does the bare minimum in pointing you in a vague general direction. And being able to see the ride in question doesn't always help, either.
  21. I only took the quiz yesterday and I've already forgotten how it worked.
  22. But "Slurpee" is such a dumb name. I prefer buying them as ICEEs. At least they're not Sno-Cones, where the syrup only gets down an inch or two...
  23. I wonder if Falling Star rides really are on their way out. Apparently Wild Waves finally removed theirs after it suffered a lot of trouble and downtime in recent years. I don't know the whole story, so I'll post the Screamscape info. It would be a shame if these rides are dying out. Of all the magic carpet-style rides, I like some of the classic models the best. A lot of the modern ones (and some of the older ones like the Weber 1001 Nachts) are mostly uneventful or annoying, but the Chance Falling Stars and Huss Rainbows seem to have plenty of both lats and airtime.
  24. Lookin' sexy! I'm not sure why I'm so drawn to construction updates of this ride...maybe because I've ridden the coaster before, or maybe it's just the classic B&M curves.
