  1. ^I actually prefer not to close restraints on empty seats most of the time, or do anything else "for the operator" that doesn't involve my own restraints. Sometimes when I've tried to do something that seemed obvious and straightforward to me, it has turned out to be incorrect because the procedure is different for unoccupied seats. However, if I know how something is done or it seems like there would be only one possible way, I may do it on a whim.
  2. ^While logically it makes sense to me that attendance would drop because of all the problems, I was surprised to see that reported since previously I'd been hearing about huge turnouts and plenty of support for the park.
  3. Superman kind of looks like a jungle gym right now. I'd like to climb on it!
  4. Does Rolling Thunder ever give any airtime? Just wondering, as I'd be surprised.
  5. ^^I'm curious about double downs in general. For all the talk about them, there don't really seem to be that many around. Coaster Thrill Ride at the Puyallup Fair has a double down first drop, but if I'm remembering it correctly, there is either little or no airtime at that point (it makes up for that later).
  6. I like how the station building turned out. I can see why people are saying it coordinates well with the rest of the area.
  7. Yay, site's still up! (Note: yes, you can put in fake info. Only your email address has to be yours.) 01. Portland, Oregon This is my hometown! While I did not answer hoping to get it, it turned out at the top anyway. I think it's because I'm heavily influenced by my time spent in the city and state, particularly the remarkably mild weather. 02. Carlisle, Pennsylvania 03. Seattle, Washington This is probably my 3rd-favorite city. It isn't too terribly different from Portland, and is better in some ways. 04. Little Rock, Arkansas 05. Hartford, Connecticut 06. Cincinnati, Ohio 07. Norfolk, Virginia 08. Knoxville, Tennessee 09. Long Island, New York Close to NYC? Want. Plus, I've heard they have good iced tea there. 10. Providence, Rhode Island 11. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania I've thought about it, but don't know enough about it, and some of what I do know is not great. 12. New Haven, Connecticut 13. Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 14. Nashville, Tennessee 15. El Paso, Texas 16. Charlotte, North Carolina 17. Honolulu, Hawaii 18. New York City, New York This is easily my favorite city. If I had the personality and the money to live there, I would without a doubt. However, judging from what I've read about it, I may be more the visiting type. 19. Boston, Massachusetts 20. Augusta, Georgia 21. Houston, Texas I like Texas, but I'm not so sure about living there anymore. 22. Albuquerque, New Mexico 23. Tacoma, Washington I don't like Tacoma. It's old, quiet, and creepy. I'm sorry Seattle is so close to it, but at least Tacoma benefits... 24. Charleston, South Carolina I'm surprised no California cities made the list. It's my favorite state as a whole, I checked off the region on the site, and the fairly mild weather agrees with me well enough. It might be the combination of the extremely high cost of living with the personality conflicts I'd have to deal with as a resident that would keep me away. It's also funny that Chicago didn't end up on the list, since my other favorite cities made it.
  8. Dorney needs Fast Lane? Wait, on second thought, I love this just for Wild Mouse. If I hadn't had ERT last year I would've ended up wanting to use it on Talon and Hydra, too.
  9. That train...I have no words. Simply stunning. Also, I had no idea tunnels were so controversial. I always figured they were pretty much universally liked. Yes, you do fly through first-drop hyper tunnels so quickly it's like they're barely there, but I'm looking forward to the headchopper.
  10. ^I could've written almost the same post. It's not just about keeping track of my count, as I also do that elsewhere. I'm at times fascinated by the unique features of the site. But sadly, I've counted at least three coasters in locations other than the places I've ridden them, and yes, "Chang" is one of them. Still more I am unable to count at all.
  11. ^Even knowing parks do stuff like that, I seriously assumed it was Bizarro and maybe bits of the other B&Ms at SFGAdv. Although that did leave me wondering what was funny about the shirt...and now I know.
  12. ^Great Pumpkin Coaster, the Miler kiddie, requires a child. You'll be fine on Flying ACE Aerial Chase (Jr. Suspended) and Woodstock Express (small family wooden coaster). Be warned: hit up that section right away, because the queues can get prohibitively long very quickly! Definitely consider Fast Lane. It worked perfectly for me last year, and appears to be even more comprehensive this season. If you don't buy it, head to low-capacity rides like Invertigo ASAP.
  13. Sounds like a fun event! And 1914 Mangels-Illions carousels are the best. If I ever find myself at the Columbus Zoo again, I'll be sure to ride that one.
  14. I had almost forgotten about the Dinosaur Phase. Now I'm sad this kind of thing wasn't around when I was little. That does bring to light why these attractions are so successful, though. My local zoo has brought in animatronic dinosaur exhibits at least twice in the last few years.
  15. Yeah, I'm sure people could bring plenty of horror stories out of the woodwork, but I believe alcohol at parks is reasonably common, and I don't have a problem with it.
  16. ^Well, as long as it's at least that good, it definitely sounds worth a ride. Great description! Hopefully it will reach maximum potential soon and then stay there for the long run.
  17. QFT. It's not my favorite park, but they seem to "do it right" in a number of ways that other parks don't. I do find it kind of funny how Hersheypark can be described as "unthemed." I know people who, given the name, assumed it was fully chocolate-themed. I bet that wouldn't translate all that well in reality, though...
  18. Honestly, Lightning Racer's station has ruined nearly all other stations for me, including the other ones at Hersheypark. Somehow, its traditional design is even better most of the genuine classic stations I've seen.
  19. I have this experience all the time at parks with big coasters. From various places in a park a given coaster will look "short," then tall, then "short," then tall again. I might just go for luck of the draw for my first ride, then switch it up on my second. But who knows how I'll feel in person; I am generally an edge seat whore on 4-across rides. That said, these minimalistic trains do strike a bit of fear and awe in my heart...
  20. Fully agreed. I didn't even realize they were making a point of working on it, but I'm grateful. They better keep it up!
  21. Okay, someone please explain "veloxrotaphobia." I know it's a real term as I found older results for it on Google, but I've never heard of it before, and it doesn't match up to any synonym or foreign word for roller coaster I know of. Maybe it has completely different roots?
  22. I now have a much better feel for the closeness with Comet. That should be a fun change for riders. Even though it's now complete, Skyrush still manages to look more and more artful by the day!
  23. It must have been implemented very badly, whether that's due to the policy itself or simply the newness. I remember it working just fine at Kings Island (as someone using Fast Lane). Surely there must be some easy solution.
  24. ^^I strongly prefer systems that either allow me to select available rides at will, or only enforce a "beginning" to the ride time window. Kennywood's system ended up being the hardest for me to plan around. I could see Q-Bots working out better for Cedar Fair parks as there may be more control over use that way, but I'll be fine continuing with the wristbands if they're handled well.
