  1. It seems like a lot of people only like Cyclops for THE drop, but I thought the first drop was pretty intense as well.
  2. ^Yeah, that sums it up about El Toro. Looking at the drop from the lift hill gives me pause. I miss it!
  3. ^"Santa Clara Stampede" sounds like a sports team. I kind of like the sound of it, but I could go either way, since it would just end up being called "Stampede" by most people anyway.
  4. ^Except Dinoconda. But hold the praise for the park; one of their other coasters is named "Whirling Dinosaur Car."
  5. I can almost see the coaster there now. Excitement building!
  6. ^And yet there is only one coaster I've been able to confirm has the same birthday as me (Outlaw at Adventureland). Too early in the season for lots of weekday operation to increase the chances, I guess.
  7. That does sound promising (but what do I know). Looking forward to some more hints!
  8. I'm glad to hear the letters have finally found a new home. The California State Fair is loads of fun, and this just might give me a bit of extra motivation to stop by there again someday.
  9. It might be just you. But on a quasi-related note, back when I knew next to nothing about coasters, I thought it looked like part of a massive full-circuit ride under construction. One can only hope that happens soon (even if the ride will still be jerky and forgettable).
  10. I got 29/40; not my worst! Funny how park locations stick in my mind even when I barely have any reason to care.
  11. I'll admit I was skeptical at first, but upon reading this tidbit, I am now completely sold!
  12. ^I seriously need to make a "food list" for my next visit to NYC. And I'm not even a foodie!
  13. That layout looks wicked. Just what I want to see in a wooden coaster design. It looks amazing and I hope it delivers.
  14. ...And once again New York City has me speechless. Enjoying the TPR perspective!
  15. ^^Personally, the back-wrenching first drop is what I complain about the most. But layout- and airtime-wise, it's a coaster I'd be happy to return to someday if it improves (at best) or doesn't deteriorate much (at worst).
  16. Please, no! Even with Prowler in the park, I still really enjoyed Timber Wolf apart from the roughness. And, surprising as it may be, I know I'm not alone.
  17. ^I knew someone would get me for that. I know Nitro is L-shaped, but for some reason I always think of Diamondback as more twisty. Not sure if it was a misconception that I never got over even after riding it, or if the setting it's placed in somehow emphasizes the turns more and makes it seem less out-and-back. Anyway, carry on!
  18. A big thanks for all the detailed reviews I've seen so far, and I'm looking forward to more! Skyrush sounds phenomenal and I can't wait to ride it. I guess people really weren't joking when they predicted high demand for the wing seats; I honestly have given up and imagine I won't try too hard for one, at least at first. My main concern so far is the reported auto-staple from the forces. Hopefully it's not too painful, and occurs late enough in the ride that I can still enjoy some freedom.
  19. I just miss when Cheetah Hunt used to be called "Cheesy Chunks."
  20. I'm not alone! I seriously like the relatively unpopular B&M hyper-twisters and quasi-hyper-twisters (Raging Bull, Diamondback) a lot better than their highly rated out-and-back hypers (Nitro, Goliath). This even though the airtime is good, and the fact I don't exactly hate all out-and-back hypers...
  21. Well, that's one way to look at it. Seriously, I know it's a different country, but that name is so confusingly bad it almost makes me feel queasy.
  22. ^The "commercialism" of Six Flags parks bothered me more at SFGAm than at any other location. Usually I'm pretty good at accepting and ignoring it, but it was a bit more wearing at this park than others. If there's one thing that tips my preferences toward Cedar Fair parks (and I really haven't been able to choose a favorite of the two chains so far), it's their relative dearth of in-park ads.
  23. I really like the idea of "spin bins" (assuming they are trouble-free). Leave it to Hersheypark to come up with something useful and efficient like that.
