  1. ^I haven't listened to them in forever, but I used to love New Found Glory! I got into them back when I was ignorant and thought pop-punk was legitimate punk rock. (Thankfully, now I realize music genres are just categories, not a reason to choose one kind of music over another for meaningless image reasons.) I especially loved their album "Sticks and Stones," particularly the songs "Sonny" and "The Story So Far," though it's a catchy and thoughtful album overall. I'd say the band I loved the most from my main pop-punk phase was The All-American Rejects. Their self-titled album was just about perfect, and "Move Along" was good as well. But now I want to get back into NFG, too!
  2. 19/26, or 73%. I got most of the coasters I've ridden and some I haven't. The quiz almost felt right up my alley, but there were still plenty of obscure and/or uninteresting coasters to trip me up.
  3. ^^Yeah, I'd imagine the "crown" still has some relevance and marketability, even if it's far from the main factor in driving visits or maximizing the quality of the guest experience. On the other hand, I've heard people say there will never again be a "true" coaster war as we knew the previous one(s), with parks constantly vying for records. Personally, I'm grateful for parks with overwhelming coaster counts, like CP and SFMM. It's not just about the credits, though I appreciate the boost to the ol' count. There's just something so satisfying about being so thoroughly surrounded by track, and being able to ride more than twice the number of coasters I'd find at most other parks.
  4. ^I like sharks, but I get freaked out by those fossils of megalodon jaws you sometimes see at museums.
  5. ^^I will admit I had to think for a moment before realizing Superman didn't suddenly turn yellow and start going up all at once.
  6. Quoted for truth. I made the mistake of approaching Invertigo in a roundabout fashion after riding the kiddie coasters at park opening, getting other random credits before making it there. Worst wait ever!
  7. ^I enjoyed Rolling Thunder, too. I rode both sides at or near the back and found it tame, but not too rough. It actually felt just a bit zippy in parts. I do rank it low, but with its charm it was worthy of more than just credit rides for me. Mind Eraser is terrible. Kong is just as bad, and Ednor might even be worse. The only SLC I "enjoy" is Great Nor'Easter.
  8. Yay for the wolves! And the early reports sound promising. Speed, airtime, and headchoppers? Want!
  9. I've only seen the original video, thankfully. It felt like it went on forever, but at least teh kitteh was freakin' hilarious.
  10. Exactly what I was planning to say. I love how the trains turned out, and the nice clean fronts are a big part of that. Am I missing something, or are there seriously no rider reports yet? Looking forward to the first!
  11. Exactly what I was thinking. Although bringing back a Wild Mouse-style coaster does seem like a logical possibility, I could also see the hint referring to ocean or boardwalk theming on any of a number of coaster types.
  12. I have been known to completely contradict myself going into too much detail, so I'll try to simplify my verdict on Vortex: decently thrilling, but rough. I used to rate it pretty highly, but nowadays I realize it's nothing too special.
  13. ^^Not me! I'm a bit confused as to why I've had a different experience on Wildcat than many (most?) people. I rode in August 2011, mostly in the back row, including several times during night ERT, on a hot day with heavy rain. I felt no airtime (I know it had a lot with PTCs, but I'm sure I've heard it still does), and I also didn't find it painful (again, I'm positive I've heard it confirmed as rough in recent times). I wouldn't pin it as a perception issue because, although I am quite tolerant of rough coasters, it's certainly a characteristic I notice, and rarely appreciate.
  14. We got blanketed last night and ended up with a beautiful Spring Wonderland. Even in the dead of night, the sky was grayish-purple with a hint of orange, instead of dark, and you could see clearly everywhere. Too bad our neighbor's tree broke in the middle of the night and woke me up with the mysterious sound of falling branches. I thought it was an animal scrambling on our fence and jumping or falling off.
  15. I remember when the Twisted Impulse was just about my favorite coaster type, and V2 at SFDK was even my favorite coaster. So in a way it's hard for me to accept the idea that they might be losing popularity. On the other hand, nowadays I'd just consider them "good." I still love the launches, but the spikes usually aren't overly thrilling to me.
  16. New restraints would make Flashback just about perfect. It's my favorite Boomerang, as it seemed inexplicably more forceful than the rest I've ridden. I don't think seat choice was a factor, as I nearly always sit near the back on these rides. All that said, I'm not sure I'd mind if it were removed...it is just a Boomerang.
  17. Roar always hurt me a little, but in September 2009 it was brutal in the back seat. Not only was it bumpy, it wrenched my insides. I generally choose the back for better airtime, but I had to go for the front a couple times that day. I hope Roar is running smoother next time I get a chance to check it out.
  18. ^Yeah, I wouldn't be at all surprised if it's some kind of mental shortcut based on the TTD association.
  19. So I'm not the only one who can't stand that name. If you're going to have two related names in one park, at least give them to somewhat related rides (but not ones similar enough to confuse people). I think naming a kiddie coaster after a thrill coaster is cute (Jr. Gemini, Ravine Flyer 3, etc.), but that's about it. "Runaway Racer" is easily my favorite of those three subpar choices. At least it's lively and alliterative.
  20. It's snowing here. The snow falling past the streetlights looks all slowed-down and sparkly and reminds me of the fake snow at Disneyland.
  21. ^Covered wagons? Sounds adorable! Never heard of accomodations like that before, even in America.
  22. I've certainly had great luck with short lines at CGA, made all the more surprising by moderate-to-long wait times at SFDK the very next day. But I'm always glad to see the option available just in case.
  23. Weren't we discussing whether this would work well on Psycho Mouse? Or was that just me? Anyway, it's on the list. Line skipping is offered on some other wild mice, so I guess it's not such a big deal after all.
  24. I'm glad there's an orange train. I always figured that would go really well with the track. Thanks for keeping us updated, Nick!
  25. ^^I sure do enjoy rides that give you a pop of airtime going into the brake run. It's refreshing to see a ride keep its intensity like that since even some of my top favorites have a "dead" drop at the very end.
