  1. I am trying to figure out the right side of the counter where it has the meter saying 87 feet- this is a Canadian park so that should be in metric- though this is the newer CF website so go figure.
  2. Uh, its 6:42am-ish EST right now- I am awake for my first day of school in over 13 years and the CW website says the announcement will be posted in 17 minutes and 17 seconds! Oh wait now its says 16 minutes and 20 seconds! If no one else is up I may get to be the first poster oh I am so hot this morning and I have not even had my coffee yet!
  3. Jack must not have been feeling very good that day- every time I've ridden him he has given me great airtime- especially coming off the surprise hill at the end coming into the station. You are also definately right that the Bobsleds are quite under-rated- I love those little hills on the way down to the base of the lift! As far as the "sea," the word does not always refer to the ocean- as in the Sea of Galilee. I also have friends from Deutchland that always refer to the Great Lakes as seas- the Ontario Sea- like the Black Sea.
  4. Here's my four cents: 1st 2 cents: The best job I had in Orlando as far as enjoying my job was working in the TTC-based Water Craft Dept- driving the fairy (only fairy at Disney that goes both ways!), the Ft. Wilderness boats and the smaller flagged boats (which were the most fun). You had no strict schedule to keep yourself on and at most times it was fairly leisurely and working on those huge lakes was a blast! 2nd 2 cents: When I worked at Sea World I got two things that I could not get a Disney- lots of hours and benefits. I think back in 1994-95 Sea World paid about 25 cents less an hour but even as a part timer you could get 30-40 hours even in the off season AND you got benefits. I think the only difference between full and part time there was how much your benefits cost. I worked in the ops department which was odd then because I worked Mission Bermuda Triangle which at the time was the only ride other than the tower- I also worked a bit at the ski stadium which was fun because during the show you dressed in costumes and at one point you had to run into the water to collect the skis. Universal was rarely hiring when I lived down there, though I worked at USH three years later and thought that I was treated very fairly and they had a policy that when you reached a set number of hours you became full time. I worked BTTF- the ride, which was actually a bit boring. Also a bit odd is that positions that would be in regular rotation at other parks were only performed by Team Leaders at USH (i.e. JP's main control booth, the video monitering room on BTTF, etc.)
  5. I wonder who they are attempting to attract- Smiths Falls is over 3 hours from Montreal and longer for TO and still over an hour from Ottawa...
  6. ^At least I'm sure that Lisa still isn't there- she was an Area 2 Ride Supervisor and once she walked up to the Grizz loading dock and said in a loud voice "It smells like ass up here," right in front of the guests- a guest complained and the entire crew got a write-up and she never confessed that it was her who had said it.
  7. ^It wasn't moved- they both had one for a little while.
  8. Does anyone other than find it humerous that parks announce when they are going to make an announcement? Think about that for a minute or don't I don't care I'm just sitting here thinking really odd thoughts as I wait for my body to get used to my new meds:)
  9. If anyone is interested- that park is also very close to our zoo! That head on pick of the coaster- the girl on the left in the front seat- tell me she won't be posting on here in 5 or 6 years!
  10. Although there are no coaster views- hands down my favorite place to go for a walk when I lived in Orlando was Lake Eola Park and there you can see the band shell that Disney paid for. Go there, sit down, close your eyes, and pretend that you are on Space Mountain. If someone has something better to put in that blank IM me.
  11. Man I hope that you dissing the coaster and not my handle there for although I happen to be flaming at times I don't plan on catching fire anytime soon and besides the land under me is too small for a coaster anyways.
  12. WOW! I have never seen the Matterhorn shot from that angle. I had no idea you would see actual real mountains in the background- it looks really cool that way!
  13. I'm not even half way into the article and already I have found an error- One-day at a WDW park is currently $71 not $67. Also nearly every "regional" park that I know of has discount tickets at the local super market and/or discounts with soda cans. Regardless just a knee jerk reaction to the fact that I am less than 1/2 way in and found an error like that- consider the source I guess. Also the comment about waiting 20 minutes for lunch at 12 noon?! That will happen almost anywhere you go. Heck, I've waited 20 minutes at the Burger King in Valley View, OH for 20 minutes at lunch time. PS: Could someone in OH explain Valley View to me...it is in a valley so how can you view the valley that you are currently in?
  14. ^Oh my god yes! I know you were probably asking the originator of the post but it is one of my Top 10 Steel coasters- the fact that 'Dipper is in my Top 10 Woodens is why I hate to see what is happening to that park!
  15. They had gotten into this groove (or rut) of opening major rides on even years and minor ones on odd years i.e.: MANTIS '96, Chaos '97, POWER TOWER '98, Camp Snoopy '99, M-FORCE '00, etc. At some point they did a double coaster year when they added WT- in my opinion they copied the wrong ride from GL! So they are now on major odds and minor evens- though if you are a kid- Camp Snoopy was a major addition and they got Woodstock Express out of it which is a nice coaster to transition from JG to say Wild Cat or Iron Drag. Going just on this predictable track record I would definately say that it won't be much and they even said anything yet whereas when I worked there in '99 much work was being done on Millie before HE opened (ships get to be girls- coasters can be boys).
  16. ^I know it was not her fault- but if I was on a coaster and I kicked someone in the head...well I don't know how I would react. That was what I meant by "accidental."
  17. Would this be statuary rape?
  18. Yes we MUST remove all trees! Trees are bad- blacktop and trashcans are good! And ^They aired Snoopy cartoons on the Disney Channel up until a few years ago- which is odd because they rarely if ever any more show old Disney cartoons.
  19. Man I can't imagine what that girl must be going through! Can you imagine how you would feel if you accidently killed someone?!
  20. There used to be a ride at BGE (actually it was still BGW at the time ) that ran on arms similar to the Tornado/Tomb Raider type rides except they ran at different speeds- you faced in towards each other and because they alternated you slide towards and away from each other and it twisted as well. I remember it being really fun, but really twisted and I have never seen it since then (1990). As far as unique- my favrotite "circular ride" of all time is the Tree Top Tumbler at MOA- which is currently the only one of its kind in the US.
  21. Weren't they go to open a frequent faller a few years back? That is small and comact and at least of RCT3 it looks fun- that or a "coasterball" would be cool and small
  22. The scenery on the Old Mill is changed every few years. A few years back it had skeletons that reminded me of the CP Train skeletons.
  23. The very short lived indoor amusement park in Niagara Falls, US (Falls Street Fair) had round bumper cars that reminded me of the saucers.. They had no steering wheels- instead you had sticks on either side and you pushed them both forward to go forward or alternated them to turn.
  24. All this recent talk about Dominator heading to CW has me worried! That and the 'Dipper are the only two real reasons I have to go to GL This whole thing with Cedar Fair buying the park and then shipping all of the good rides away makes me think back to the summer when Fantasy Island was called Two Flags Over Niagara as the person who owned Great Escape (prior to Premier/Six Flags) bought the park primarily because that is where the Comet was being stored. Once he removed it he re-sold the park.
