Check out this website: http://www.yesterland.com/ There you will find a bunch of information about nearly all of the now gone attractions from Disneyland and even already gone items from DCA and even the surrounding area. -
^The summer I worked on Grizzly the rafts were one year past the date their tubes should have been replaced and a few times they were too weak to get stopped by the belts and they would just float through the station and back onto the course

Best Post-MCBR B&M
BrownStreak replied to smallish's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This seems to be an odd name for a post "a lot of B&M's have..." I can actually only think of one with a week ending- Mantis. Did you know if you ever completely Stop on the MCBR you barely make it through the rest of the course. -

I am just curious- in the original flyer for this trip you were also going to Geauga Lake- I was just wondering why you decided to skip it. Its not the best park but it has a great floorless and the Big Dipper is in my top 5 woodies. -

I live on the west side of Cleveland (near Lakewood) and I can tell you we have been getting rain and lightning storms all day every around 1:30 when this quote above was posted- seeing as we are only a bit east of Sandusky I can definately say that there is lightning "in the area." And yes the storms here move VERY quickly! -
The overall layout of the entire park is a bit odd- its a giant H

Which is the longest (in time): A) Riding Viper B) Walking through its always empty queue C) Walking from the exit of Viper back to the entrance to the queue I think it is C. One real question...When I was last at DL it seemed to me that the back spike of Boomerang was higher than say, the Bat at Canada Wonderland. Are there different sizes of these or is it maybe just an illusion because you are up over water?

Disney World Raises Prices...Again
BrownStreak replied to Airtime&Gravity's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Its dumb for me to want to take a vacation I can afford? I am planning a trip this fall as I should have the fundage by then and am pretty much left with Florida or California by then and where am I going to go- WDW where my budget would get me over 1/2 hour from the parks and maybe two or three days in the parks or Universal where I can stay across the street and get five days and do Sea World and BGAfrica for just another $80- shuttle to Tampa included -
Disney World Raises Prices...Again
BrownStreak replied to Airtime&Gravity's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well I for one would go to Disney for one day because that is all it would take for me to hit the stuff they have added since 1995. Actually a lot of people I know take multi-regional park trips. And yes there are people who take week long vacations to Cedar Point and they hit the Carousel museum and the lion safari and the R&R Hall of Fame. Or your income level. As far as the other post about staying off-site to go to Disney- vs staying offsite to go to Universal's two parks- Universal's area hotels are right across the street and no that price quoted is not a Motel6. But come to think of it if you take the odd over-sized theming away for the All Stars you are basically staying in a $39/night hotel but are paying twice as much and even they are not much of a time saver as they are so far out from everything except AK. All I am saying is that Disney has been riding the "Image Train" for quite awhile now- its time to put more coal in the fire. PS: One other thing to consider all of the WDW parks costs the exact same ammount but their offerings are far spread from MK and Apricot with a decent spread to MGM with what 5 rides. Also let me say that if I had a job paying $50K as a single man I might consider doing a Disney Resort thing, but as a low-income hope-to-soon-be-a-student. When $600 is all that you got for a vacation (granted I don't even have that) what are you going to do? Less than 10 years ago you could do Disney that cheap too- on property. -

Again by whose figures are you going by? I'm not doubting you its just that their recent policies don't seem to support this. From the age of 3 until the age of 18 we used to drive down to WDW once every 3-4 years- every time in mid-to-late August when the crowds were not horrendous but still there. My parents took my neice, nephew, and sister down there two summers back and the Magic Kingdom closed at 8pm and had no evening entertainment about two weeks before Labor Day. I just find it interesting that some attendance lists list Disney as the Top 8 while other listings have other parks in there as well. ^^Also CP is not the only park I am refering to. Just out of boredom I planned a fake trip to Universal Studios and IOA- 1- a park which has added 10 major new rides since I was there last (as opposed to MK, Apriot, and DMGM which combined have only added five or six and that's 3 parks) and 2- a park I have never been to which again compared to AK (I haven't been there either). I could get an unlimited park pass and a hotel for five nights for under $400- yes I'm a sorry single rider- that's at a hotel less than 1 mile from the main gate and an early entry pass and a City Walk Pass. I'm sorry I just don't find the Disney "quality" really that much better than Busch or Universal and they are much cheaper. -

I am just curious to know what the nationality spread of the 100 TPR'ers is. I mean is it mostly American or did a bunch of folks from overseas hop the pond to experience a wild bunch of midwestern US parks. I'm just curious as it seems a bulk of the European trips are Americans if it would be revered for the US. -

BrownStreak replied to Airtime&Gravity's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well of course you know if you park hop- Disney loves you because they get to count you at both parks in one day. And what is this quality you speak of? The Disney/MGM Studios has what five or six rides plus a few shows...that's more than $10 a ride at that price. If CP charged that gate admission would be over $600. It also depends upon which attendance lists you look at and how these figures are tabulated. And don't make the assumption that because something is popular that it is the best. I am by no means a CP fan boy- I haven't even been there yet this year Actually they are down a bit from say the late 1990's park to park and of course the typical American reaction of anything slowing down even just a bit is to jack up the prices to make the same amount of money even if this means that you are going to loose even more customers as a result which is why companies like Wal-Mart make a killing in this country because they hold their prices low and ride the storm of flucuation. Interesting to compare a theme park trip to a trip to Maui- but okay- for $1200 I could easily do a full theme park trip through lets say PA and catch Kennywood, Knoebels, Dorny, and a few other small ones plus see a few city sites on the way and come out having experienced a full state, 100's of rides, and more as opposed to...what was WDW's last total ride count? 60? And that is of course if you can hit all of them since they now close the park as early as 7pm even in mid-to-late August. I'm just saying that this is one more reason that it will be a very long time if ever that I return to WDW- serverly cut services and park hours, continually raising prices, and increasingly rude employees, sorry Cast Members (you don't see them winning Golden Ticket Awards for Friendliness). There are just so many parks with far more offerings than "a name" that I could do for that much. -
Wow, I've been on these forums for 26 days short of two years and this is the first time I have seen this topic so you guys must do a GREAT job at beating Spam here because I have never seen it! You guys should go get jobs with YahooGroups! I've stopped checking in with most of the groups there because 99% of their links and their "files" are Spam! PS: I wonder if Hormel Foods in mad that this junk is called spam or if they are happy because there is so much of it they get a lot of free publicity?

Wow, for only $50 more you can buy a Cedar Fair Maxx Pass! I remember that my Florida Annual Pass back in 1994 was just over $100, then again you could still find gas for under $1! -

Ah Camp Snoopy...err...the Park at MOA...err...Nick Universe...whatever! I worked there back in 1996 and my favorite rides to operate were the Lil'Shaver (except for the slow days when one op was assigned to both it and the Kiddie Bumper Cars) and the TTT. What is the TTT, you may ask? The Tree Top Tumbler- my all time favorite "flat-ride" of all time! I think the one there may be the only one in the US and there are not many anywhere else either! So the short answer to your question is that the picture below is the Tree Top Tumbler- in my world the best flat ride on earth! If you missed it you totally missed out on a unique experience!
