Biff Tannen was my first "movie crush" when I was a kid- yes I know I am a sick freak! It was slightly tintalating when in 1997 I worked at USH and worked on that ride. I never found it that great and the movie really seemed to lck in many ways. I do think that replacing the movie and smoothing out the simulation would be preferable to scrapping the ride- like a movie where you feel like you are part of the action sequences in the movie would be grrrreat- "OMG we're going to crash into that manure truck!" que the scent spray- or scenes on the train from Part III. I do know that we were told that the Fla version was built with a major flaw in it- because the 2 arenas were built back to back- they could not run both of them at the same time due to the vibrations- which slowed down capacity. BTW- did anyone else know that that CA version is not attached to the ground?! It sits atop HUGE rollers in case of an earthquake.

They used to have a 2nd one. It ran from near where Coasters is now back to near where SkyHawk is now- that station building is still there. Some may not know this- but back before Gemini was errected (hee hee) there was no patway back to the western area of the park- you had to either ride the train back or take the 2nd skyway. Although it would be a capcity nightmare by todays standards I think that's kind of cool to have a section of the park that is only accesable by train.

As far as skyrides- I don't see why parks don't switch to the newers models like the ones on ther Heavenly Ski Resort Gondolas- they move off the cable and move around the load/unload area at a slow pace and the loading platform is level with the cabin! They are even wheelchair accessable- one of the reasons given for why DL's was removed. Without the need for manpower to catch the cars and manually swing them around to the other side (it sucks- I worked at MK's for a short time) they could add more cars and make them line eaters!

I am confused by the six trains- where are the blocks? One in load- one in unload- one in the 1st launch section- one in the 2nd launch section- where are the other two? -

Should we start up TPR Calistenics? This will be the longest "running of the bulls" distance ever! -

Oh Robb! Thank you for accidently answering my question that seemed to get skipped over by everyone else (go back two pages)! Your the best- especially when you don't mean to be! -
PKI without a car

The same tax payers who will vote to add a lane to an interstate (because they can drive their own cars on it) then complain about the construction delays and by the time they finnish the expansion will already be outdated. We here in Ohio are currently widening I-71 a 5-10 year project- several of the completed sections are already over-capacity! -

This may be old news or unrelated but I am not going to read all 231 pages to find out... I went on the CP website to look at their fall hours and up in the banner with the CP "skyline" there is a Snoopy flying along on his doghouse pulling a sign that says "The Secret's Out in 3 Days." Just thought I'd mention it. It is 1:30am Cedar Point, err, East Coast Time- so I don't know if its 3 days from today or yesterday- but it could be something. -
New Universal Orlando Rumor...

I agree with you there- somewhat- why have the exact same attraction in several cities- its makes them less special. I saw the Tap Dogs- Rebooted two years ago and it was the BEST non-musical stage show I have ever seen! They don't have a permanent "home," why not put in a show like that- or even STOMP?!~ -
One thing to keep in mind with the "cost per mile" is that is an average- a mile which includes the construction of a station is going to cost A LOT more than just a mile of straight track- also every few miles they need to add in the cost of adding another train. That said- if WDW improved their track switching technology they could use either one of the TTC stations or the EPCOT station already in place and just add one station to AK for example- the "per mile cost" would be a lot less. And of course every city that is considering one or has recently gotten one knows- light rail is one of the cheapest transit options by its "per mile" cost- with the exception of a wheelchair platform, these trains don't really even need stations- they could use the bus loops!

PKI without a car
BrownStreak replied to BrownStreak's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
1) Not one person caught my intentional typo 2) I didn't mean to confuse anyone- I am not taking Amtrak- I would be taking Greyhound- I took Greyhound all the way from Buffalo to Reno once and once you get west of the Mississippi its not too bad- anyways 3) Too bad, so sad they never built that Light Rail there were talking about! -
Hello all, I was hoping to head down for Pride Night at KI this year however my 14 year old car died (just months before its 15th b-day- sad really) and I won't have another one until October. But I really want to go! I still need my SoB credit! If I take Greyhound down to Cincy (we here in Cleveland have an Amtrak Station and so does Cincy but I'd have to change trains in Chicago to get there and the trip would take 2 days!) can I get to PKI by pubic transit or something? Anyone know?

OMG! Its still there- up in the middle there are 3 arches- why do I keep seeing a "Play" button in the middle of the middle one? I noticed it in the pic Robb posted here- and it is still there in the other pics in this thread! -

My Coaster Count
BrownStreak replied to BrownStreak's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Hmmm...for some reason I didn't see the Little Dipper on Fantasy Island when I rated Wildcat (RIP) and Silver Comet...as for the other coaster- according to rcdb.com the Demon was added in 1992 and I was there in 1988- so I don't think that was it- I just remember being struck by how much the whole park looked like Canada's Wonderland- being from Buffalo I was there often as a kid and remember being there when their rapids ride was brand new and the "running of the bulls" at park open all went there! -
Very much so- its the first coaster that came to mind when I saw this post! You can always tell when someone has ridden it before because even if they'd had their hands up the entire run, they put them down and brace themselves going over the last bunny hill into the slam breaks- odd thing is it still stops that suddenly even when the station is empty. I've also noticed on Mean Streak, the ride that leaves a "brown streak" in your pants when you ride it- when hit the final block breaks, it you stop completely (i.e. train still in station ahead) there is a noticable thud when the breaks release- like you stoped so fast the upstops actually kicked in- that's what it has always felt like to me

Man, you didn't ride their log flume!? It is one of the best I've been on- it is one of the few that I've seen that has rapids like a river rapids ride would- and that drop is soooo steep! -
My Coaster Count
BrownStreak replied to BrownStreak's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Thanks for the tips y'all! But I am still having a hard time locating a few coasters- coasterfanatics is missing Fantasy Island's old little dipper and I can still can't find any proof that there was a steel coaster at Australia's Wonderland- I remember making a joke- "It we are upside down already (southern hemisphere) will we be right side up when we go through the loop?" -
I finally sat down with rcdb.com and tried to jog my memory towards every coaster I have been on- my final number seems low- 119. How do I count traveling carnivals? I've been on coasters at fairs and carnivals but I have no idea which ones in what years- shoud I guess? Also in 1988 I was at Australia's Wonderland- I swear I rode a steel coaster back then but there are none listed on rcdb.com that would have been there then- anyone "down under" know? PS: I think its funny with some parks I have been on more coasters than they now have- PKI for example, I have not been on SoB but I was on King Combra and one other coaster that is no longer there- okay so its not that funny!

For RCT3? Its in the settings -
Hi! Just so I don't get yelled at- I did try to do a search for this first- has anyone done a Six Flags Great America or any of their coasters? Most importantly I would like a Raging Bull- all of their other coasters I know enough about to make myself. PS- I need it for RCT2- I have RCT3 but I just use that these days for "riding" coasters I've designed in RCT2- it doesn't work well for fully fleshed out parks!

Right vs. Left

So for the most part- this is just a B&M difference?
