Something I read on another post made me think of this great old walk through fun house from the much missed Crystal Beach! We used to take the boat over to Crystal Beach when I was younger (I am only 33- they brought boat service back in the 80's). Sure it was quicker to drive but arriving by boat was awsome! Anyways, back to the point...the fun house had several dark "mazes," fun-house mirrors, a few slides, and pathways with airhoses that shot up at you. I didn't know for the longest time that some hidden op controlled the air! Back before my time it was called the Magic Carpet because according to my parents at the end you entered a small room with a bench made out of rollers and sat on it. The bench then flattened out and you slid down it onto a slanted conveyor covered with carpeting and you rode that down to the end. This sounds really cool and I was wondering if anyone on here is old enough to remeber that? More importantly, does anyone have pictures? I have two calenders from I think 2000 and 2001 that have about 30 pictures of the old park in them but none of this fun house. Also let me just say that I still miss the Giant aka the Yellow Coaster- it was my first real coaster and I found out recently that before it closed in 1989 it was the oldest side-friction "train" coaster in North America.

What's your favorite Flat ride?

I would have to say that grand old stand-by...the tilt-a-whirl. It always makes me laugh and it is one of the few rides that my 59 year old mother will go on with me- she hates coasters and anything that goes upside down but she loves to spin! I have yet to get her on a spinning coaster. -

Well to start with GL's target audience is Cleveland and it really is more of a locals park than say Cedar Point or Kings Island where more people are likely to come from farther away and stay at least a night or two- and Cleveland is not doing very well- we were voted what the poorest big city in the country?! And for the people who say that this is not true overall, let me say from my perspective- since I moved up here from Columbus in June 2006 I have been making $3 -$4 less an hour and pays $100 more in rent a month and even little things like groceries are higher up here- fewer people have the extra spending money to pay $10 for parking and then $25 for the park. I myself do not really like waterparks- waterslides have low capacity and there are more kids running around unattended there- why am I going to pay $35 (parking and ticket) to go to GL when there are only two coasters left there that I like? That's $17.50 per ride- what is that? Las Vegas? Yes I wish GL wasn't turning to crap but wishing isn't going to help anything. The fact that my #8 woodie is there makes me hope CF will at some point grow a brain- but I'm not putting money on it. I have to remind myself this is the same company that fired me in 1999 because I needed time off to go to my ex-boyfriend's funeral! You know I used to say that Disney should buy Coney Island (NYC)- they wouldn't have to do anything- just put their name on it and people would show up and love it just because its Disney. I think that CF has that same mentality that people will love any park that they own just because they own it- even if they sap out anything unique or fun about it and continue with the same overly high admission price (you can buy a whole season at your local pool for less than the cost of GL and many of them have slides). Okay- done ranting... PS: After a full year away I am back to working in a call center so I am glad I did not change my singnature... -
SFGAm - New pics page 3/4

Um, when Premier bought SF from Time Warner, like 8 years ago . All SF parks wear the same uniforms. SFGAm has no control over that, in 2004 they brought back the custom uniforms for the scenic railway operators, then this year they also wear the blue polo's because corporate wanted everyone to look the same. They also ordered the new "Please keep the park clean" logo to be placed on the garbage cans, which is why all SF parks have those same stickers. Its not really a big deal... I worked at the park the first full season under Premier and we still had 'em...if I knew they were going to get rid of them I definately would have taken a batman uniform- I LOVED it! -

Two big thumbs down for SFGAm getting ride of the unique ride op uniforms for different areas of the park! I used to love my "Gotham City Department of Sanitation" uniform from when I worked on Batman and the East River Crawler! I always wanted to "accidently" take mine home with me... When did they change over to these bland- "everyone wear blue and kachi" uniforms? -

The Big Dipper was running Grrrrreat when I rode it two years ago... Why don't they sell something like Disney's Park Hopper Passes? People visiting from outside Northeast Ohio could add another day to their trip and do multiple parks. Just a thought- I mean if the attractions in the Cleveland area would work together this area could be a super power tourist destination- two major theme parks, two water parks, a neat little kid park, our zoo, the R&R Museum, our National Park- complete with a fun train ride, plus University Circle's Museums- do something like they do in many European Cities and offer a Card that gives admission to everything for a deep discount or free- but of course that's not the American way- everyone has to charge full price even if that means fewer people over all... -
It depends what you consider my home park- moving away from the fact that I lived all over the place- I am from the Buffalo, NY area and Fantasy Island is technically the closest park to me so I can say that I rode the DL Predator in its first year and the same with Dragon Mountain- both about 30 minutes from me at the time. A few years back I was dating a guy in Toronto and I was up there almost every weekend and we had PCW Season passes and I rode Tomb Raider its 1st year. I also rode Woostock Express in its first year as well as the WDW ToT- I rode it during CM previews at that! Also Italian Hand Job Stunt Track- rode that in its first year at KI- on Pride Night (they actually called something a bit more risque but I tired to keep it PG-13). That's all I can think of off the top of my prematurely balding head.

Here's the odd thing- in 1997 there was this company called Premier Parks and they bought the Six Flags chain from Time-Warner and changed the name of their company (like when Nations Bank bought Bank of America) and in the past 10 years they have sold off almost all of the parks that were not Six Flags parks prior to 1997 so it was like what was the point? I wonder if a similar thing will happen with Cedar Fair- their lower producing parks get sold off/closed... -
YES! The good ole' Poly. Us parking lot folks would always ask for a Parking 5 van or an extra truck so we could either go to McDonalds or to the Mouseketeria (especially after they added the Subway). ANYTHING was better than the Poly...even Westgate. Being in Water Craft we had seven choices for breaks but majority ruled unless they broke you at the MK docks where you could either break there (non-food break area behind Main Gate where you could watch the parades setting up or the one in Tomorrowland) or hope to Supervisor Boat and go where they decided we were eating that day. The cafeteria at the TTC was only opened at lunch. We usually at at the 'Temporary Resort- the food was good and the resort CM's weren't rude to us like they were at the Grand Flo- only downside was the walk from the dock...

I spent most of my working time at WDW in Water Craft Transportation for the Magic Kingdom area resorts- in fact I was one of the first drivers for the 3rd of the medium sized boats they have (had?) which I think was called the Mermaid. I mostly worked in the evening so I helped to empty the park- usually on the Gold Line serving the Grand Flo and the Poly (worst CM cafe on the lake btw). When things started to slow down one of each of the launches had to remain at the main dock until Park Security gave us the all clear- the red line (Wilderness), Gold, and Green (the Fort), as well as the ferry. Oddly the larger the boats, the easier they were to operate- the ferry had rotating sticks to stear with while the little boats had the big ol' ships wheels. After our last run of the night the ferrys were parked at the TTC while all of the other boats went to "Dry Dock" though they weren't taken out of the water this is also where they went when there were taken out of the water. We then rode the supervisors boat back to the TTC to clock out and head home. Riding that boat out over the deserted 7 Seas Lagoon was so cool- we flew that thing so fast! Btw- a bit of trivia that you may not know- between the Grand Flo and MK the monorial goes up really high and goes over a little canal- that canal is where the water parade lives and further up the canal is a lock that connects to the rivers of america- the reason that the beam is so high is that every so often they haul the riverboat down the canal to take her to Dry Dock! When they did it when I was there one of here stacks hit the beam!

I found 50 cents on the ground when I was working PAC (Parade Audience Control) for Spectro-Magic and my Lead told me I had to take it to Lost & Found!

Disregard this- I finnally found the answer on another "board"- is there a way to delete this "topic?" Okay so its not exactly a coaster game but it runs on rails and you can find them in parks so please don't yell at for posting this question here... I FINALLY figured out how to get into the Senario Editor and I was wondering if anyone knew if you change the names of the industries and/or the cargo? I want to design a Hollywood Senario where the goals would include: Deliver 10 cars of Manure to Hill Valley by 1955 Deliver 10 cars of Pies to "?" by 1920 Stuff like that. I know in the Santaland Senerio everything has different names...Anyone know?

Why do people always act as if CP is filled up- look at Blackpool- they have only five fewer coasters yet they are about 25% the size of CP. CP just needs to get creative to add more coasters instead of just clear-cutting everything out to put in something new. IMHO both Raptor and Mav would be so much cooler if they wound around the log flumes which they replaced...

Well I think that we should get Line Jumping Privileges or something. I mean come on, we pay the same taxes as everyone else (more if you are partnered) but don't have the same rights as everyone else- so I think we are entitled! Plus come on ACE would be 100% fat guys if it weren't for my people- okay some of them do double duty (no double pun intended) in that respect
