  1. A piece of a tree fell during heavy wind and hit her
  2. I have read on a few sites and saw on the Cleveland news that a girl was injured on the Jungle Cruise- I searched this site looking for its mention so I could add this comment: What is worse a) that she got injured or b) that she would have to tell her friends back home that she got injured on the Jungle Cruise- the tamest/lamest ride as far as thrills go!
  3. Doesn't "X" do something like a 0-G? It doesn't seem like it would be much wider than 10 B&M seats across- Years and years ago I had heard that Arrow (RIPieces) had designed a 10x10 coaster- that would be 100 peeps per train!
  4. When we did the commercial for Darien Lake back in the mid-to-late 80's we had to ride Viper about 30 times so that they could film us in different positions- then at the end of the day advised us that none of the footage could be used due to the clouds!
  5. I've never been to DCA...that section "in the water" where they launch the coaster- there are no railings on the catwalks- what do they do if they need to evac the ride there? Do people fall in?
  6. Okay, so I'm thinking of heading up to visit my family later this spring and I decided to see if Darien Lake was going to be opened or not and I did a search just now on Google and the Darien Lake site comes up as still being Six Flags...with a schedule and everything. I'll admit I didn't read through this entire post but what gives? They were sold right?
  7. Hey now, don't forget Center Island's park and Ontario Place has like what five rides... I'd like to see the numbers expressed in daily terms- Which is "busier," a park with 1,000 guests per day open 365 days a year or a park with 10,000 guests per day that is open 36.5 days a year?
  8. I went onto Screamscape the other day just to see if there were any odd or new stroies there and found a post re: Geauga Lake's removal of two of their coasters and the fact that it would be 2008 or 2009 before they get anything new and only if attendenece picks up... My question is this: How are they going to raise attendence by removing stuff and not putting anything new in? They say that they want to be a "family park," whatever that means. I mean come on, we already have Kiddieland here in the Cleveland area and that is a lot cheaper for families with children than Gaga Lake is! At the rate they are going with removing rides and only building water park attractions for years the park is going to end up like Wyandott Lake. As a side note- isn't it interesting that the the original Funtime Parks: Darien Lake, Geauga Lake, and Wyandott Lake, which were purchased by Premier in the 80's or 90's are now owned by three different companies- none of which being the company that Premier became in 1997 when they purchased the 6 Flags Parks- in fact they have since sold off almost all of the parks to a point where they are left with just the original 6 flags parks plus a tiny number of the parks they started with. Anyways- there are so many things that they could do with Gaga Lake to make the Greater Cleveland area a week long vacation (3 Days in Sandusky, a day or two at Geauga Lake, and a day or two seeing RNR HoF/Science Center, and of course our wonderful National Park!), but there is really not much reason to do both parks as they removed 2 of the 3 coasters that were somewhat different from CP. (I always liked the straight spike of S;UE over WT's twisted set). The only reason that I am purchasing an all CF pass is to make sure to ride Dominator before it gets removed and of course the Big Dipper, which is one of my Top 10 fav woodies since it was re-tracked. What does anyone else think of my ramblings?
  9. Did you max out your rides? I've downloaded RCT2 parks over the years where you can't add anything because you can only have like 250 rides/shops or something like that. I have tried building from scratch to hit this mark but I never have...I have run out of staff however! Anyone recently added the max number of rides?
  10. By the way...this is relavent sort of, so I'll stick it here...Who is (are?) the King of King's Island/Dominion? I think they should do a corporate sponsor thing and call it Burger King's Island
  11. Yes I'm quoting myself...deal with it! I have too long off for lunch at my job so I discovered how to make this work...CF should buy Adventure Landing in JAX and then the world could say hello to Knotts' Landing- that would be soooo awsome! Btw- is it Knott's or Knotts' I beleive that I have seen it both ways or is it just me- which is quite possible!
  12. They should put the name "Knotts" in front of all of their parks- Knotts' Point, Knotts' Fair, Knotts' Adventure, and then they should build an all new park... Knotts' Landing! ooo ooo ooo...another one....Knotts' Fun
  13. I know a bit of French and Dutch and I am learning German (err Deutch)...its a matter that if I can learn a second language why can't so many of these Spanish speakers learn English and why should every phone menu start off with: For English press one... Both sets of my great-grandparents learned to speak English...Its a matter of pride in MY heritage, which just doesn't seem to be PC anymore- If you are white and speak English you can't be proud of your background without being called a racist
  14. I don't speak Spanish (proud to say!)- how do you open the map?
  15. Man between this and SFMM- it ain't a good week to be a crappy woodie is it?!
  16. I must say despite other breaking news (congrats) I was abit surpirsed that an official announcement of a new park wasn't on the main page...
  17. As a former Full Time/Year Round ride operator at the park in question, I can tell you that capacity is rarely an issue there. The park gets a decent flow, but many a day I sat around at my ride waiting for customers- occasionally offering free rides to cute guys just to give me something to do!
  18. I though Port Adventura was owned by Universal Studios...?
  19. ^I've never even heard of that show! But give me Spongebob anyday! They should/could make the entire park look like bikini-bottom- it would be a tie in with the mall's aquarium (if its still there).
  20. Not all of us have significant enough hills for skiing or tubing- this post was started kinda as a joke
  21. Many of us in the northern states have no theme parks or roller coasters to thrill us in the winter and can't afford big trips south to get our fix so I propose a list of ways to get our fix: Elevator #3 of my office building gives incredible floater airtime
  22. But see, there's the other draw to SoCal- I could stop by and "Meet the Alvey's"- sounds like the name of a bad movie
  23. I am hoping to take a trip this Januray or February! I have not been to Orlando since 1994 which means I have not done anything at Animal Kingdom, or Test Track, Nemo, Mission Space @ Apricot Center, and I haven't done Poo at MK (anything else new there?) I have then also not been to IOA, or Mummy, MIB, or Shrek Also Kumba was closed last time I was in Tampa and that was their only big coaster back then I have not been in SoCal since 1997 which means I have not been to DCA- also I have never been to Knotts, SFMM, Sea World SDO, or Legoland If you know both areas and know what I have missed in both, what would you pick? It seems that there are more awsome new rides in FL but more "never been to parks in SoCal..."
  24. OKay, so its not a "Drop" Tower, but I once watched an evacuation drill for the tower at Sea World Orlando- There is a 2-3 person "bucket" stored at the top which latches on up there. Rescue Dudes climb up the inside of the tower, hook this thing onto the side of the cabin and lower people down outside!
  25. Interesting that there was a warning about the park being busy- yet there was an un-used train in the Nitro Storage area!
