  1. Someone needs to get there and take a POV and an offride video right now!
  2. I just can't get over that overbanked right after the non-inverted-loop on the X-Car... Everything about it screams wrong! I'm looking for this park to open and read the first TR, 'cause it'll be a while before it's even possible for me to get there. Have fun you italians!
  3. This thing will be too epic to handle!
  4. (Sorry for double posting.) Supports have arrived! http://www.rcdb.com/m/9206.htm?p=31568 Interesting colour don't you think? But due to Linnanmäki being in a middle of a city, the demands for minimum disturbance in the city's skyline are critical and have to be met. Can't wait to see the colour of the track!
  5. I_can_not_believe_this. The guy who rides next to the designer - the guy who is the first to ride Formula Rossa in the first row - is finnish! Anyway, a great video, still waiting for the POV though And it's good to know they really do give goggles to the riders.
  6. SkyLoop has a name! A naming contest was held for the SkyLoop, and the winner is Ukko. Ukko translates as "old man", but the reason for this particular name is that Ukko is also the god of gods in Finnish mythology, Kalevala. There are already a few rides themed or related to Kalevala, such as Salama, Hurjakuru and Tulireki, and thus Ukko continues that theme. See wiki for more info about Ukko (the folklore one ) There were over 20 000 proposals given for the name, the winner received a VIP-card and with it he gets two wristbands free of charge every day during the summer 2011. Not too bad for a prize, don't you think? Here you can also find the top 70 of the other competing names. They are Finnish, though, as the conditions for the name was to be Finnish and one-piece.
  7. Well, I know they are supposed to drift, but honestly you don't feel it at all when riding . The "tilting" only results as painful banging from side to side making a very uncomfortable ride. But enough of ranting about Tulireki, let's get back to X-Raptor, which by the way is indeed an interesting project. Can't wait until the layout is revealed!
  8. Has anyone tried TusenFryd in Norway? You know, the park with the awesome Intamin launched with a Norwegian loop that wraps around the parks entrance escalators. That is one cool looking park seen from the passing road!
  9. My biggest disappointment so far was this spring when I rode a Fabbri Contact. It didn't do really much. But on the same trip I rode a Gravitron. I had no idea how awesome it would be: I didn't know of the music or the lights inside, so you could say I was positively surprised!
  10. Looks to me that the beginning will be a mirror image of Poseidon's, which is cool. I like that this is not the typical kind of a water coaster that only has a lift hill and a flat turn before the soaking.
  11. Zierer Force (and the impossible Intamin ZacSpin/Ball Coaster).
  12. I can save and load my tracks on NL just like before, but when I try to find the track files via Windows, I just can't. They just aren't there. So basically I can't share my NL tracks. And also I can't take any pics. Could anyone help me?
  13. So that's where it will be. I'd like to re-ride this again in it's new location. After all, it was my first coaster with inversions EDIT: 100th post yay!
  14. I like it! Especially the fake front car idea is awesome! But I have to agree that the "people falling from the train" -part is too much, and could cause actual trauma on GP
  15. I feel bad for the ride-op...
  16. Here's MotoGee and Pilotti. Notice! it's Pilotti not Pilotto. These shots of Pilotti have been taken early in the season when Pilotti had a little trouble with opening. Hence the ladders and other random stuff included in these pics. And I know these aren't the best possible shots, but at least it's better than nothing, right? Index luv I wish there was a train in this pic And an overview, taken from Näsinneula, the observation tower.
  17. Viikinkilaiva's ride sign @ Linnanmäki. Will this do?
  18. You can't go wrong with black and red
  19. Kirnu - Linnanmäki. Although it's almost nothing compared to Insane, it still delivers one of my favourite ejectors in the first "turn"!
  20. Same here. And the park stays open for 14 hours a day in the summer, so you get multiple rides on everything!
  21. Intamin ZacSpins do the thing for me, so I voted for 'Other'.
  22. Tivoli means 'fairground' or 'funfair' in Finnish. Thanks for all the nice comments! I will also do a TR of Särkänniemi including the new MotoGee as soon as I get there, as it opens today.
  23. It's a sign of spring when fairgrounds start doing their things here in Finland. I visited two of the three major ones with my good friend. First up was the smaller one called Tivoli Seiterä, which was visiting my hometown Riihimäki in the beginning of April. As you will discover, fairground business here is tiny compared to ones abroad, but IMO they do the trick well. The second one was the largest fairground in Finland, Suomen Tivoli (which conveniently translates to Fairground of Finland) in the city of Järvenpää. Not very large either, but still has two rollercoasters and the best flat ride in southern Finland! Single rides cost 3 euros in both fairgrounds, but the latter one has a wristband at 28 euros, so it was a no-brainer to buy the wristband. Overview of Tivoli Seiterä Overview of Tivoli Seiterä part 2: the return of the son's revenge Underneath the skirt of Love Machine aka Super Waltzer Your everyday Scrambler and ejector-filled Grazy Dance in the background. No, that's not a credit. Therefore we didn't ride it. Crazy Palace -funhouse and Super Waltzer in the back. Something artsy or something fail-ish. You decide. This concludes Tivoli Seiterä, the start of my every season since 2000. We see you flashy bling-bling gate! Still outside the free-to-enter area, but not for long! A credit! First drop goodness! It actually felt like something in the back. Well I say, this one's a mess of steel! Lift hill enthusiasts galore! Final helix. Also delivered some fractions of G's Proof of quality right there. They ran it with two laps, which was nice. Park index love Running out of clever captions already... Tissue, anyone? Another credit! But we weren't whore-ish enough to actually ride it, right? No. Us dirty dirty whores... But we had fun. It kinda shows in this photo, right? POV! There's only one thing to make bad things even worse and there it is. TRIM! Hope you aren't out of tissues yet. There was also a small funhouse. I liked it Sombrero. It was quite a good ride surprisingly. That's one huge kick-a$$ wheel! But we didn't ride it, so no overview photos this time This scrambler span like crazy! I think I still have bruises. More Index luv. No, that's not an optical illusion. The track does actually tilt. It gives a nice twist, altough other than that this ride was kinda meh. Something we didn't ride. Probably even had a weight limit of like 50 kilos This ride would have been cool, if the music played wasn't evergreens Moar index luv means moar typos. Random shot. BUT the booth that says Lipunmyynti has lockers I was expecting much from this beauty. I wasn't disappointed Very photogenic. See what I mean? Pure beauty. My current desktop image BTW. Random shot 2. Random shot 3. Okay, this is the last random one, I promise. This ride is the KING! It totally blew both of our minds! It was surreal with the loud music, lights, strobo-lights and everyone lying on the walls in a mess of feet and arms! Pure awesomeness! Totally made this trip worth it! Let's end this with a photo of us. That's me on the left.
  24. Now that my job as a ride-op in Linnanmäki has started, I've been able to take a few glimpses of the building site. Well, there's not much to tell, as there's pretty much nothing there... I've seen the track and it's dark blue with grey, metallic supports, excactly like in the pic above, but the layout appears to be more simple - a bit like a simple out-and-back. Behind this link is a map of Linnanmäki, the new ride, Pilotti (Pilot) is located in the lower left corner.
  25. Double posting and pumping. For a reason. UPDATE!!! First things first. The coaster now has a name: MotoGee (pronounced like MotoG as in MotoGP). Secondly, vertical contruction has begun. Here's a link to the finnish forum. The link below the pic leads to more images. As can be seen from the pic, track will be black (sexy ) and supports grey, adding a kinda tarmac-ish feeling. This ride is motorbike related after all. Thirdly, Särkänniemi has made a commercial which can be seen from their website here (it's the top one). The other is a "making of" and the one in the bottom is from Zamperla's archives. It says on the commercial: "New MotoGee. You can't experience this anywhere else." Särkänniemi will open April 30th. You bet I'll be there if I'm not working at Linnanmäki that day!
