The intamin rockets work pretty well once they're broken in. Although they do break down quite a bit in the heat. -
^ I think its only the trains that are manufactured in Switzerland, although those could be manufactured here in the US as well.

Oldest Coaster You've Ridden

Giant Dipper Santa Cruz -
Well, the only clone I can think of from B&M off the top of my head is the Batman Clones. Now this. Oh and the first half of chang and Mantis. Thats it really. Raptor was only cloned once. Oh yeah, and Six Flags is the only one really that does the cloning of B&M. I forgot Scream at SFMM. Well, you can't really say the first half of Chang and Mantis because they did it more as a set patern. Where it is technically "cloned" its just a generic B&M way to start off the ride imo. Sort of like Kraken and Medusa. Just thought it worked well so they stuck to the same design. Anywho, I was really hoping for this to be a custom design just because we still haven't seen the full capability of flyer built on a flat peace of land. Air is the only other custom flyer, and sort of fits the catagory, but it wasn't design to push any limits. Ohwell, maybe next time.

Paramount Parks - Ordered from Best to Worst
Gnome replied to pkd804's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ PGA would be such an awsome place if they got an intamin mega coaster on the level of Goliath WW or better. Maybe in the future. -
I've never heard of that movie in my life. Although I forgot that viper has been futured in several movies and the cheeto's commrecial. I just don't hold it to high regard personally. OMG how many times does it have to be said? Tatsu was green-lighted by the OLD management! It was already being built when Shapiro came to power. If he could have stopped it, he WOULD HAVE. Tatsu has nothing to do with SFMM being on the "chopping block". But why would you want to axe a park noing there was 22mil spent on it, reguardless who was running the park? I know why, because it doesn't fit your ideal theme park.

B&M vs Intamin
Gnome replied to alpengeistdude321's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
B&M - Reliable rides. Current installments have really been pretty hit and miss as far as ride quality. Intamin - Constant down time during opening. Occassional serious accidents have occured because of a malfunction or design flaw in thier product. Generally have good moments of air time and mind blowing rides. Winner? Tie! I cherrish each as well, and I'd like there be as many intamins as thier are B&Ms in a park. -
until they fix thier capacity issues, I don't really think I've seen much of an improvement. That is the #1 problem they should tackle right now. And it could be an overnight fix to. Fire all the supervisors who don't want to do thier job right, then have them come in the next day and say, "anyone who can't keep up with our goal for so and so many trains sent out in an hour wll be fired." And basically scare them into doing thier job right. If they still can't then they should be fire because they have no buisness working there to begin with. It's probably a little more complicated the same basic idea is there. Do your job right or get a new one.

Walt Disney World Epcot Discussion Thread
Gnome replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
they should have a notice that says, "If you are unsure of your current medical conditions, for your safetey please do not ride." Obviously you'll still get these accidents but it will still weed some more people out of the line. Which means less line for me next time I go. -
Cedar Point or Islands of Adventure?
Gnome replied to redfoot12's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ its probably because most people who go to sea world go there for shamoo rather than the rides. They will still probably add new rides in ther future, just not much. For example Sea World Orlando is adding that kids area. The roller coaster looked like a pretty fun kids coaster to me and should be a good rides for those kids who aren't able to go on Journey to Atlantis or Kraken. I can see them adding maybe one major roller coaster to Sea World San Diego and leaving it at that, but over all I think the reason why they don't regularily add new attractions is because there's no need. People come just to see a bunch of fish swim around. But I see Sea World San Diego adding in a parking structure before any thing new comes simply because the park is land lock by that bay thing and by parking lot, and the parking lot looks like its a little bigger then the actual park itself. V as for shiekra being the best ride in FLorida, I beg to differ. It's fun no doub,t but I would take both Kraken and especially Kumba over it 5 days out of the 7. Although it is a very good ride and one of the best I have been on. -
Cedar Point or Islands of Adventure?
Gnome replied to redfoot12's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Its a cool idea, its just to bad the shuttle back is so early. They also have a shuttle from IOA aswell, which is nice if your staying on site. Also I do think Kraken is alone worth it for Sea World, Immel Man and I spent a day riding that thing and it never got boring. I would do it again if I could. -
^ yea, the pirates attraction was definately the best thing there. THey hav4 other things like this arena where you shoot balls at each other, and arcade games that are included in the admission, as long with several other special games which are based off of actual disney attractions. As for cyperspace mountain. It's not very good because you don't feel any sensations at all. Its basically like No Limits except crappier and when your done, it will flip you around a bunch of times. It was sort of fun but nothing impressive.

Sounds like a pretty good list to me. All of those except Thuderhead and the Holiday World rides are in my top 15 list of coasters. As for being scared of tall coasters. You have to remember you are securely fastened into your seat and there it is highly unlikely the ride will buckle from underneath you. I too am deatlhy afraid of hights. If I'm not securely fastened to something, I won't go near it, for example the Grand Canyon is my least favorite place in the world due to that factor, but I can conquer any roller coaster because I know i'm not going to fly out or have the ride crumble while I'm at the top. It hasn't happened yet, and it probably won't happen in the future. So its more of a mind thing. You just have to tell yourself that there's nothing wrong. Not to mention you've been on plenty of other roller coasters and you've come off ok, then it should be the same for any other ride thats manufactured well. If you aren't going to get hurt, why be afraid of it?

I wonder how much money it would cost to turn SFMM into the family friendly park Shapiro wants. What rides would go and what rides would stay? If I was shapiro I would start drawing up like a 10 - 15 year plan which would basically be a complete conversion of the park. For Example I would completely redo the bugs bunny area and make it better themed as well as have better attractions and overall just a nicer place to roam through. I would remove flash back, deja vu, and psyclone, and redo the entire river crossing area. i'd take out the monoraile, and I'd definately add in more sitdown restaurants. I'd also take out Superman the Escape and maybe put some other ride in its place. I think that magic mountain still has a lot of potential, and they can still shape it into what ever image they want. The only problem is they would need to want to spend the money on it first. But maybe in return they'll see more profits in the future?

SFMM and Knotts Berry Farm Advice
Gnome replied to PhillyGirl's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
lol......Is that not a great park any longer? If you had a choice would you go there or Disneyland? Knotts is a fine park. But it comes a time when you've gone there 50 billion times that you get board of the place and you start critiquing everything about it. Its not the best park in the world, but at the same time its not the worse. If you didn't grow up with the park, I doubt you would find much wrong with it. But basically just get a map and look at all the rides that you want to go on. Make a plan on what order your going to ride them in. Usually when I go with friends who don't go to Knotts hardly at all I go on La Revolution, Montazooma's Revenge, Silver Bullet, Ghost Rider, Xcelerator, Supreme Scream, Boomerang, Rip Tide, Big Foot Rapids, and sometimes the Log Ride. More recently I have also been going on the Calico Mine train, but it sucks because you can't hear a damn word that the tour guide is saying. Anyways, just go on those, you can throw in Perilous Plunge if you must, but you should be finished with the ride list by early afternoon if you get there right at opening. That gives you time for re-rides on Xcelerator, Ghost Rider, and Silver Bullet. Although I personally like re-riding Montezooma's Revenge because its such an awsome loop. -
Bad Color Schemes and/or Just Ugly Coasters
Gnome replied to MattJackson's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Everything at knotts in the recent years. It works for some rides, but just the fact that they keep on selecting the same color scheme over and over again really urks me. For example, the new Perilous Plunge cars are all orange and ugly like Riptide. Why couldn't they just have kept the same color scheme as the old car? -
Do you talk to strangers in line with you?

People usually start talking to me, instead of the other way around. I guess I'm that cool.
