  1. My list (Year I last rode it) 1.) Banshee (2015) 2.) Montu (2017) 3.) Afterburn (2016) 4.) Dragon Challenge (2010) 5.) Raptor (2012 Others ridden: Alpengeist (2002) The Great White (2006) Batman: The Ride SFOG (2016) Batman: The Ride SFOT (2016)
  2. Um didn't Afterburn have paint chipping off for several seasons before it was repainted? Didn't CF also take three years to repaint Millennium Force? Didn't they also paint Talon's supports like two years before they painted the track? Have you all seen Diamondback's lift supports recently? Six Flags isn't that far removed from a five year period were they were repainting at least one coaster in virtually every one of their parks every single year. Neither chain is perfect when it comes to repainting rides.
  3. I don't know how much 10 weekends that they are currently closed keeps people from working there. If they went to a year round schedule they still won't be open week days, so they will still be relying on mostly young/retired employees. As for Superman, I'm ok with losing the yellow because of how poorly it holds up, I really hope they change Scorcher's colors when it gets repainted because it looked awful by 2010 when it was repainted in 2007.
  4. I don't know if they still do that. There wasn't anyone up there when I visited back in September.
  5. Visited the Orlando Park for the first time yesterday. Got there right as some rain was ending, so nobody was there. The employee to guest ration was probably very close to 1:1. Got in 5 rides on White Lightning, 3 on Freedom Flyer (1 with VR), plus a couple on the Screaming Swing and Enterprise. Staff was very friendly and had a great time! If I lived in the area I could easily see myself visiting several times a month to get a few rides in.
  6. 1. What is the name of your home park? By proximity is Alabama Splash Adventure, but I really consider SFOG my home park 2. Do you own a coaster related T-shirt? Several. Don't really buy them like I use to. Most recent was one of Holiday World's 'Orange is the New Track' shirts. 3. Do you enjoy Vekoma SLCs? Only been on Mind Eraser at SFA. Actually spent yesterday at BGT and Sun Spot alone. 12. The independent park you go to the most is... I guess it would have to be Holiday World (not counting the park I worked at for 11 seasosn) 13. Name one personal item you've lost at a park. Only one was when I forgot to zip my pockets on Lightning Run. Got the keys back but the chains were all destroyed. 21. Name of the worst B&M invert you're ridden is... I don't even know. Love all the ones I've been on, but I guess I'll go with Dragon Challenge now that it no longer duels. 22. The name of the best B&M you've ridden is? Fury 325. Enjoy them all though. 40. Name three other forum members that will fill this out... _______,_______, and _______
  7. It depends on the crew. I've been a few times since the ride opened where the crews were only stacking 10-15 seconds, if they were stacking at all. S:UF was a part of HITP in 2014, and as of now they plan on it and JL:BFM to be running next year for HITP.
  8. The park hosted a construction tour today. According to this video lots of changes are coming this season: -Cotton States is becoming Metropolis. Some of the games are being removed while the rest will be updated to this theme. -GASM and Blue Hawk will be a part of Lickskillet. The best news: -Superman: Ultimate Flight will be repainted and will finally have all three trains available for use!
  9. PTC has been doing a countdown to Christmas on their Facebook page. Here was their entry for Monday: 6 new chassis for Kentucky Kingdom a-laying.
  10. You can always do the Six Flags method too. Even on rides where you have to use a locker they still allow you to take your souvenir bottle into the station where they have numbered racks for them. Sure you still have a couple of people that need to put them up, but that is better than having half a train needing to use a bin. Or you can even go the Dollywood/Holiday World route and have the guests had their bottles to a op and have the op place them on the bottle rack.
  11. Several years ago in IAAPA's Fun World magazine there was an article about the park that stated they were working on buying a second train for Anaconda. On RCDB the train in picture 43 looks different from the train in the early pictures, so clearly they bought at least one new train. Does anyone know: Who built the new train? Do they run two trains now, and if so did they buy two new trains or still use the old train as a second train?
  12. You can re-enter parking with your receipt. I have done this several times at Dollywood.
  13. 2011: Dare Devil Dive (SFOG) 2012: Wild Eagle (Dollywood) 2015: Thunderbird (Holiday World) 2016: Lightning Rod (Dollywood)
  14. I would bet what's more likely is to get the Ride Centerline guys to design mine trains for Chance.
  15. I was told by someone I know that got a tour of RMC that they were merely days away from starting track production when Darien Lake pulled the plug.
  16. Europa Park has now won three years in a row. I doubt Cedar Point was that shocked.
  17. So from what I understand, the back two rows have always had seat belts, and the rest of the train added seat belts back in the late 80's. Crazy. I was wondering if they were added after the NTAG accident. Amazing to think Mindbender still runs lapbars only.
  18. Something I was wondering after my visit: how long has Shockwave had seat belts?
  19. Having been to both parks in the last 2 weeks, I still give the edge to SFOG. Although I loved Mr. Freeze, give me Mindbender anyday. I do think SFOT gets the edge in terms of flat rides, but I enjoy the scenery of SFOG better. Plus the Flash Pass line of OG's batman doesn't take you through a sketcky back area where you think you might actually need Batman to protect you
  20. NTAG was great! Since I was pressed for time, I didn't get to ride either Riddler or Catwoman, plus Catwoman seemed down a lot of the day. One of the biggest problems was with people trying to refill the drink bottles. I hope Six Flags will take a page from several Cedar Fair parks and add a couple of places in the parks were they have 3-4 self serve fountain locations guests can visit. Some crews, like Titan, were doing that. Just as long as people don't start going "Seatbelt lapbar, seatbelt lapbar, seatbelt lapbar. I can say it all do I don't get tired. Seatbelt lapbar, sealtbelt lapbar, seatbelt lapbar." like an operator on Intimidator was doing when I visited Carowinds bak in June as doing.
  21. Visited the park for the first time ever on Sunday. Considering that it was a BAF day, there were a ton of people there. Overall I enjoyed my day, but here are some of my thoughts: -Food lines were atrocious all day. -Really enjoyed the scenery. The old sections of the park reminded me of Dollywood in a way. -Titan was intense. Good ride, but probably towards the bottom of my hypers list. -Glad Shockwave was not doing VR. Just a 5 minute wait. Nice ride, but I think Mindbender is the better of the two. -Batman's Flash Pass line is super sketchy. -Loved Mr. Freeze. Going up the spike backwards was amazing. Never turn it back around -We had Gold Flash Passes, so NTAG was the only bad wait. Dear God were the operations here bad. While some of it was due to a number of guests not fitting, almost every train they were having to unlock restraints to measure a kid. How about we do this before they board? Good day overall, and I hope to get back sometime when there isn't a sea of humans there.
  22. Spent a few hours at the park today. Decent visit. Dispatches seemed pretty good, although the two attendants at Blue Hawk looked like they just found out their puppy died. Few notes: -Loved the new Blue Hawk trains, although I always enjoyed Ninja in the "magic seat." Seems many people agreed, as by mid afternoon it had a decent line. -Goliath Train 2 row 7 has a wheel with a flat spot. Kinda doubt it became that bad today, why wasn't it fixed during the week? -As I was walking down the exit ramp, it looked like from a distance large chunks of paint had come off of some of the supports or the final turn. Getting closer, it actually looks like they have had some welding/modifications done to them. Anyone hear anything? -Glad Mindbender was running two trains. Still kicks ass. -New kids areas looked nice, but could probably use more shade. Can't wait for the official announcement for 2017 Thursday!
  23. Maybe they will give it a major rehab this off season with it getting a new neighbor next year.
  24. Did KI significantly improve this year? Outside of Banshee last year, they were all pretty bad. I miss the days of one train entering the splash down on Diamondback as the train behind it heads down the first drop. Fury 325 was amazing a few weeks ago. There were several times we were dispatched before the previous train had even cleared the lift!
