  1. Being listed as temporarily closed could only mean a couple of days though. I know SFOG has posted that in the past and the ride has only been down for like three or four days.
  2. They had several segments on a local news show this morning. One of them talks about it. It's a new freefall slide from Proslide and it will be opening later this summer. http://abc3340.com/station/talk-of-alabama/talk-of-alabama-52318-alabama-splash-adventure-new-slide In another segment they talk about adding beer and wine to the park this year which of course has brought out the "Think of the families" idiots.
  3. There was a fire on the park's train today that sent two employees to the hospital. Link
  4. While that is true, HUSS is notorious for taking a long time to actually get parts to a park. One of the maintenance managers at the park I use to work at complained about it all the time. There were multiple times when it took weeks/months for a part to arrive.
  5. Six Flags has been doing the shirt thing for some new rides the past few years. Last year you could buy a Justice League shirt at SFOG during Battle for Metropolis season pass preview for example. It's been 12 years since my last SFFT visit and every trip report I see from there makes me miss it more and more.
  6. I wonder if some of these parks are the ones Six Flags is looking into buying?
  7. Isn't LaRonde now their only park without a nearby waterpark now that they picked up the Waterworld park and the water park in Mexico?
  8. Yeah almost all of the coasters in the park use tires to advance trains on the coasters. I believe only Blue Hawk and Dahlonega Mine Train are the only two that don't. Rain can cause issues with those tires.
  9. ^Yes, you can use the discount once for each period listed.
  10. Spent a few hours at the park today. It was pretty chilly this morning but warmed up throughout the day. I arrived right at opening, ans I hope the weather played a factor in having rides opening on time, because Georgia Scorcher and maybe Dahlonega Mine Train (didn't walk by it until around 11:30) were the only coasters open at opening. Blue Hawk never opened. Operations were decent every where I went. Not a bad day overall. My biggest complaints is the same as my last visit last year: they don't refill the Freestyle machines during the day so by the afternoon there are very few selections available, and the continuing saga of Mindbender running one train. Here are some pics: The main reason for visiting today was to try Scream Machine Backwards. It was really smooth and the new paint job on the old GA Cyclone trains looked good. Blue Hawk was done all day. I guess they tried to open it at some point because there wasn't a train on the lift this morning and they had a crew there for a little while. Mindbender. Sigh. Running great, and it looked like one of the trains had several seats/clamshells replaced. I guess Dare Devil Dive Coaster got a little bit of new paint. Wildlife. I chuckled. Soon. Soon. Cannot wait for this to open. Twisted.
  11. That's an apple and oranges situation. Nitro doesn't have seat belts and the operators can check restraints essentially standing up. I operated a coaster with PTC trains for years. For us to unload/load/dispatch in a minute or less was almost impossible to do regularly simply due to the number of guests that would have trouble with the seat belts.
  12. That was one of the things I liked about the lockers when I visited SWO/BGT for the first time last year. Every big ride had a set by the entrance and you could by a transferable locker. Even if you don't force people to use the locker for every ride why do you not make them available? I would much rather get a transferable locker and put my phone, wallet, etc. in a locker before getting on each ride and be able to have access to them as soon as I get off the ride.
  13. I've been waiting for news on the drug arrests to come out. I was told by someone years ago (summer of 2013) that had a business meeting with Henry several months prior and he was several hours late. The reason for for his tardiness? He had been held up in court dealing with an arrest for possession of a drug much more serious than weed. This guy was floored that Henry was so upfront about the whole thing. I have a feeling the two drug arrests mentioned in the Daily Mail article will be the tip of the iceberg when this while trial is over with... If you go back and read the thread when the ride opened (Here), they were only averaging about 400 riders per day. That's a LOT of injuries in a short amount of time given that capacity. Also they weren't unspecified. Read the indictment. Concussions (plural), broken toes, herniated spinal disks, jaw bone fractures, and orbital bone fractures. Those are major injuries.
  14. If I remember correctly, Holiday World has said they had higher food per cap numbers after going to free soft drinks.
  15. I've stayed at that Microtel twice. It's decent and I would not mind staying there again.
  16. It was also a pretty common rule chain wide back in the 80s and 90s too.
  17. I was at KD for i305's Opening Day (Friday and Saturday). Crowds we not terrible but several rides were closed both days and Volcano, Backlot, and Grizzly were all running one train. Granted that was 8 years ago now, so who knows it might be different this year.
  18. They posted this on their facebook page back in January:
  19. Did they mention if they were switching the trains back after they turn them around? I thought they might start using the Cyclone trains on GASM since they are newer and they have individual lap bars.
  20. I've thought for a while that a water coaster from Mack Rides would be a good fit for that spot.
