Valleyfair (VF) Discussion Thread
CoasterGuy06 replied to the_rock401's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That's funny because when I was at Kentucky Kingdom last month there were as many, if not more people riding Eye of the Storm as there were riding Storm Chaser. Two weeks later at SFOG and there was constantly a 2-3 cycle wait for Joker too. -
Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
CoasterGuy06 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It's almost like Cedar Fair got the benefit of letting the designers get several years of experience converting rides vs being the company that took a leap of faith on an unproven company back in 2009. -

Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread

Proslide has been using LIMs on their water coasters since they built Deluge at Kentucky Kingdom back in 2007. I mean there are literally thousands of water slides around the world that go back and forth from tunneled sections to no tunneled sections. Has that really happened yet? -
12 years ago was 2005. Since then the following coasters/major rides have been repainted: Ninja/Blue Hawk- 2006/2016 Georgia Scorcher- 2007 MindBender- 2008 Batman:The Ride- 2010 Great American Scream Machine- 2010 Acrophobia- 2010 Joker Funhouse Coaster- 2016 Superman:Ultimate Flight- 2017 It's trains are nearly 40 years old and built by a manufacturer that went out of business decades ago. If its running one train you can almost guarantee that if you look inside the storage shed the other train will be in some stage of disassembly. Maybe the next project will be to finally get new trains for it like SFMM did for Revolution in 2016. The park supposedly was working on getting both stations/all three trains operational again this year. Maybe the budget was cut for it? I'm guessing the issues with the trains could be the fact they are essentially prototype trains. To be fair their operations were like that back then too. They were decent last Thursday overall, but were better several years ago. While Carowinds had excellent operations last year when I visited on Fury/Intimidator/Afterburn the rest of the rides were average at best. Hurler for example was running one train and had like eight operators in the station and it was still taking them several minutes to send out a train. I do agree that I would like to see them making several improvements to their current rides. When they announced Hurricane Harbor in 2014 they said it was the first of a multi year expansion plan. 2018 would be year 5 of that plan so maybe 2019 will be the year they can do some smaller improvements throughout the park?

It doesn't have to be. Several years ago I was there on a day where they were often dispatching one train as the other train was going around the curve between break runs. I was there on Thursday and the crew was stacking trains during test runs after the park shut down due to weather. During one test run they didn't even bring the second train into the station until after the other train had run through the course and had been sitting on the first set of brakes for a couple of minutes. They were too concerned with goofing off with each other. Speaking of Thursday: What's the point of having all of these Freestyle machines for people to refill their drink bottles if you aren't going to keep them stocked throughout the day? And while I do hope they repaint Scorcher soon, I would be ecstatic if they finally got Mindbender the ability to have two working trains consistently.

These are my thoughts as well. A solid coaster for a park with a solid lineup. -
Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread

That was really what was annoying. It would just lead to a group of people crowded around pushing on a gate that wasn't opening. -
Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
CoasterGuy06 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Visited yesterday for the first time since 2015. Had another good visit. Some thoughts: -Mystic Timbers was really fun. Even better at night, but there are still quite a few lights visible from White Water Canyon -Diamondback is still fun. Really wish they would at least repaint the lift supports. Also while the crew was better than the one I experienced in 2015, nothing beats the crew when I visited over 2 days in 2011 -While it never actually stormed while I was there (2:30pm-close) there was a good bit where rides were down due to lightning in the area. Still can't understand why Banshee/The Bat have to be down for lightning while Vortex, Delirium, Congo Falls, and Xtreme Skyflyer can all operate. -Still hilarious that Adventure Express is rated a 5 while rides like Windseeker, Mystic Timbers, and Drop Tower are a 4 -Still love The Bat -Vortex was fairly smooth compared to some of the rides I have had on it. -The Beast night rides are still really good -One annoyance: on almost all of my rides on the two B&M coasters one of their two exit gates was still locked, causing a bottle neck with everyone riding. Ride Counts: Diamondback 4, Mystic Timbers 5, The Beast & The Bat 2, Banshee 6, Each side of The Racer, Flight of Fear, Adventure Express, Vortex, Delirium, Eiffel Tower, and KI&MVRR all 1 -
Water park rules
CoasterGuy06 replied to WestCoasterKing's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Some parks allow you to wear swim wear on theme park water rides, some don't. The park I use to work at didn't allow it simply to be consistent with all rides. Many flat rides are completely exposed to sun light and those seats get very hot. A girl in a bikini top/bottoms or a guy going shirtless can get burned very easy on those rides. Instead of having people try to argue "well we wore this on THAT ride, why can't we on THIS ride?" our management just had a blanket "shirts, shorts, and shoes" requirement on all of our dry park rides. -

Legendia Park Discussion Thread

Lying to investors is illegal. However, not all parks have "investors." Yes, some parks do lie to make rides sound better. When Visionland announced they were building Zoomerang back in 2005 (a nearly 20 year old relocated boomerang) they said they were spending $5 million on the ride. In reality they spend like $3-$3.5 million, but thought saying $5 million would sound more impressive in the media.
