  1. I had to call security to get a guest THREE DAYS after the kid was decapitated at SFOG for jumping the fence on Rampage. Yes, a park a mere 2 hour drive away from SFOG had a guest jump a fence to get a cell phone. The worst part is it wasn't even his cell phone. He thought he saw a cell phone and claimed he was just going to grab it and take it to lost and found.
  2. The park uploaded a video of the lifeguards lipsyncing "Shut Up and Dance" for a contest on Good Morning America. The alien is in several shots, so maybe that was all the picture meant.
  3. Diamondback has always had bins and they weren't really a problem in the past. I've spent at least one day at the park in 2010-2012 and again this year and it was rare to ever see all three trains stacked in 2010-2012. I did not see a single cycle this year where they were NOT triple stacked. I long to see these days again: 2011 2015
  4. Middle row of the last car is my favorite row on The Beast. Keep in mind Kings Island will keep the line open until closing time, so I usually hop in line a few minutes before closing so I can ride other rides at night too. The will suspend operation at 10pm for the nightly firework show but reopen for those remaining in the line as soon as they receive the all clear.
  5. Super excited for my first visit since 2011 and my first Holiwood Nights!
  6. I visited the park on Sunday to try out Rampage for the first time in three years. I am happy to report the ride is running GREAT! Easily some of the best rides I have ever had on it! I had a chance to speak to the man that lead the renovation work and according to him there is still a little fine tuning to be done until it is exactly where he would like it to be. Here are some pics/notes from my visit: Hello Vision Alabama Magic Beach Splash City Land Adventure USA. In case you forgot where you are or the year. Current map of the park, complete with Rampage goodness. The "new" sign. Sigh. The train is essentially brand new after an extensive rebuild back at PTC last summer. Still towers over the park. Another train of riders comes flying into the station. Splash Express is in the same location and even has the same layout as the old Adventure Express that operated here from 1998-2011. Jump Around opened towards the end of last summer and is one of only two non relocated kiddie rides at the park. Centispeed is a Wacky Worm coaster, one of several rides relocated from Gillian's Funland after it closed. It also had a lot of work done to it during the off season. Crank N Roll was actually located here from 1998-2003. It was then kept in storage at the park from 2004 until being reinstalled last season. Little Bumpers is the other ride built brand new for the park. It uses the shed from the old Zamperla Speedway ride. Little Harbor is located where the old Carousel sat and rounds out the kiddie rides that were operating Sunday. Like Holiday World, the park started offering free unlimited soft drinks this season. There are still tons of reminders from past rides. Buzzsaw Falls operated here for only one season prior to the rides closing after the 2011 season. Here is where Balloon Wheel operated. The park actually bought a similar ride to put in last year, however when that unit was removed from its previous park the arms were cut off with a torch instead of being unbolted. So what do you do with eight balloons from a ride that can not be used? If you are Alabama Splash Adventure you place them throughout the park! I leave you with a final picture of Rampage. If you can make the drive over to Alabama, you won't be disappointed with a cycle on the southeast's tallest wooden coaster!
  7. Technically it is. RMC themselves said Six Flags does not have an exclusive contract, but so far Six Flags has been keeping them too busy for other clients at their previous production capacity, but that should change with their expanded manufacturing facilities.
  8. The ride was originally announced as being 240, but I believe they only could get permission from the FAA for 220-230. As I understand it the limit is 200 feet from the tallest point (Where Goliath, at exactly 200 feet tall, is located), but they were able to go a little taller by placing the ride in Lickskillet.
  9. They don't. There are seven rides you can't leave articles on the platform. They aren't a restaurant. Their prices are in line with most major parks and arenas that I've been to the last several years. Generally speaking Six Flags offers lower admission pricing than most major parks and makes it up with their parking, food, and retail revenues.
  10. So a brand new Super Loop is bad because it's "old technology" but you would be okay with a used Breakdance? Makes sense.
  11. ^They were doing a pull through with one of the cars.
  12. A: Afterburn (Carowinds) B: Batman: The Ride (Six Flags Over Georgia) C: Cannonball Run (Waterville) D: Diamondback (KI) E: F: Flight Deck (KI) G: Goliath (SFOG) H: Hypersonic: XLC (KD) I: Intimidator 305 (KD) J: Joker's Jinx (SFA) K: Kentucky Rumbler (Beech Bend) L: Loch Ness Monster (BGW) M: Millennium Force (CP) N: Ninja (SFOG) O: P: Poltergeist (SFFT) Q: R: Rampage (Alabama Splash Adventure) S: Superman: Ride of Steel (SFA) T: Tennessee Tornado (Dollywood) U: V: Vortex (KI) or Volcano: TBC (KD) W: Wild Eagle (Dollywood) X: Y: Z: Zoomerang (Alabama Adventure) Underlines won by default and I counted Flight Deck because that has been it's name all three times I visited KI.
  13. Hasn't the park model (like these) only been out a couple of seasons? Would explain why they are popping up now when the style of ride is not new. Also Larson calls them coasters, just like Zamperla (and Cedar Point) calls the Disko Coasters roller coasters.
  14. These are park models. They aren't that easy to move around.
  15. Which is funny because they actually tend to paint their rides more often than a certain Ohio based company and they don't generally do it over multiple seasons like that other company I'm pretty sure Baynum Painting still does most of Six Flags painting. I know they are the company repainting S:KC at SFFT this year. They do good work.
  16. And this is 100% confirmed by the park for the delayed opening right? As for me I visited SFOG three times this year. All visits were good.Employees overall were good, rides were running the appropriate number of trains for the crowds each visit with the exception of Mindbender, but apparently they were having issues with the other train most of the season, and food lines were pretty quick. My only real complaint was I took a friend to Fright Fest and used one of my season pass holder coupons. I get it's hard to find employees in the fall, but the ticket lines were out of control. Maybe even implement a system where pass holders can purchase those friend tickets in advance so we can skip the lines at the ticket booth.
  17. Intimidator's opening day was actually a pretty good day. It's line was between 15-30 minutes all day, and all other rides except Nighthawk were probably less than 15 minutes all day.
  18. Which is the exact opposite of what happened originally. They had about 20 rides and a tiny waterpark that was always packed, so of course it took five years for the first expansion to the waterpark to occur.
  19. No, you aren't. The kiddie rides were dead a lot of the time last year, but that might change some with Rampage reopening. I do wonder if they would have been better off with starting with 3-4 kiddie rides and 2-3 "bigger" rides like a Scrambler, Tilt-A-Whirl, Flyers, etc. to give a little more balance.
  20. Premier Parks over built their parks in the late 1990s/early 2000s. Some of those removals without replacements could be to bring their operating expenses in line with their revenue streams.
  21. Back to Splash Adventure news: over the weekend Dan Koch tweeted that the park's website had been updated with 2015 pricing, hours, etc. This includes the new park map that has Rampage back, but I noticed it does NOT have Acapulco Drop (freefall slide) on the map anymore. It is also no longer listed under attractions either.
  22. DC Universe wasn't that long ago. In fact it was done under the current corporate regime.
  23. You also need to realize the park's attendance has hovered in the low three million range for YEARS. Wasn't 1996 or so the highest attendance they had? They aren't going to expand it larger than it is now. They will continue to expand the way they have been doing it: remove aging attractions and replace them with new ones to draw people back. Pretty simple.
  24. Look forward to finally trying backwards Batman! Add me to the list that doesn't want to see GA Cyclone get a make over yet. I had some of the most INSANE coaster rides on it this year!
