  1. SFOG has one of the most well rounded coaster collections you can find, and the really could use more non coaster rides. As long as they don't have to remove something like Crime Wave to build it I'm ok with this addition.
  2. ^I imagine Batman will get the backwards treatment for at least part of next year. If the rumors of SFFT getting it later this year pan out it will only leave SFOG, SFStL, and SFGAdv as the three US parks to now have it yet.
  3. S&S towers (at least the one I use to operate) are designed to lower slowly back to the ground in the event of a loss of power.
  4. ^^They aren't spending that money just so they can theme rides to it. They are paying for it for the merchandise sales. Every time I go to Six Flags I see tons of people wearing things like the DC character capes.
  5. Legend wouldn't be the first CCI nor will it be the last that winds up needing extra bracing added to the ride.
  6. Kings Islands leak was fake. Cedar Point seemed like a genuine error.
  7. There is a reason for that. Unless it has retractable seatbelts (like CF has on their wooden coasters) then a belts in empty seats can slip under the seats, and on PTC trains that means in certain row they can actually get tangled in the wheels, which generally results in a crushed buckle and a belt covered in grease, meaning a new seatbelt must be installed.
  8. Yes. I believe track was even sent there at one point and it was on the agenda for final approval from the local government before they withdrew the application.
  9. Except for the whole taking two years to paint Magnum, three to paint Millennium Force, two to paint Talon, only painting the parts of Volcano and Anaconda that faced I305 when it opened, etc.
  10. It could also simply be a nod at Holiday World for using the "Bellyaching and moaning" clue.
  11. ^Yep. Because it's America and you have to sign one before you do almost anything these days.
  12. Both of those really depend if there is a train in the station or not. If there is you hit really hard, if there isn't it is more gradual.
  13. I'm impressed hearing Paula describe some of her clues in the journals. Great job!
  14. But again, what is their admission price? Six Flags offers much higher admission discounts than any of those other parks which offsets the parking prices. Also SFOG is still only $20. They also still run trams, which I have never seen at any of the four CF parks I have visited, and last week there was even staffing in the "guard" towers in the lot, even though the park was pretty dead. Again speaking about SFOG since I was there last week, they have much more than that. They also have Johnny Rockets, BBQ, Panda Express, salads, subs, turkey legs, etc. I even took part in a survey from them a couple of months ago asking about various new food concepts such as quick serve locations, fresher/healthier options like fruit and yogurt, and more vegetarian and allergen free foods.
  15. Which is actually what you find at almost all American parks. Cedar Fair, Busch Gardens, etc. have them too. While that may be true, you are also adding a ton of costs if you were to do that. For example the worst coaster at SFOG is Ninja, which only takes 2-3 operators to run. If you replaced it with three flats, each of which could take up to three to run, you could be talking about triple the staffing to run them. Are you ok with paying even higher prices so they can add that level of staffing? It's important to note that even with the second quarter attendance drop revenue for the quarter was up 4% and per cap spending was up 11%. Their season pass attendance is also up 9%, which could very well mean the daily tickets guests may be waiting until later in the season for their visit.
  16. Even after several years of the "storage" policies at Six Flags somehow I have managed to have to buy one only once, and that was only because I had several medications/bandages for an injury I had at the time and I didn't want to carry it around all day. Maybe one day people will realize they don't have to bring half their house with them when they go out.
  17. Paying $65 with parking to get into a Six Flags park is still cheaper than almost any major park in the US. Last September I paid $55 for a *discounted* ticket to Dollywood and then paid $8 to park. I paid less than that for a Gold Pass (with parking included) to SFOG this year. As I told a coworker last week that told me he paid the full priced $61.99 to get into SFOG, if you ever pay full price to get into a Six Flags park, you have made a mistake. He actually thought the $61.99 price was great when found out it was a "Thrill Pass" good for unlimited admissions through September. Now he's planning to go back in a few weeks to take advantage of it instead of only making his originally planned one visit.
  18. ^Same here. I was there last Tuesday and had two of the best rides I have EVER had on Cyclone. There was a little bit of shuffling on the second turnaround, but overall it was smoother than it has been in years and the airtime was REALLY strong in several spots.
  19. But what about all the Windseekers at Cedar Fair parks? Relocating a used Invertigo to Dorney Park? Adding Zamperla Disko coasters to multiple parks? 85% of their guests drive less than 150 miles to the SF park they are visiting. Adding multiple similar attractions like Sky Screamers are not hurting the company.
  20. It will be interesting to see if that trend continues the rest of the season. It is true a lot of systems throughout the country did have to modify the calendars after the winter, but you also had late openings for many of their major new attractions this season (SFGAdv, SFGam, SFA, and SFOG all opened their new attraction after June 1).
  21. According to Six Flags Annual Report, Scooby Doo is included in the same long term licenses from Time Warner as Looney Tunes and the DC Comics. Also didn't Sally say in an interview (maybe one of Robb's from IAAPA a few years ago?) that they had received interest in the US about the Justice League ride they were part of at WBMW Australia? If so, Six Flags has the exclusive rights to use DC Characters in America, except for Las Vegas.
  22. ^Because SFFT has one of the best Marketing Director's in the industry in Jeffrey Siebert.
