That Luna Park entrance is even scarier than the Sydney one. Looking forward to the rest of your pictures! -

I missed CGA in favour of SFDK... and now I'm not sure if I made the right decision. Looks like a great little park! -

Calling All Coaster Enthusiasts!
stuartnz replied to bigjohnson51's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Name: Stuart Drake Age: 17 What is your roller coaster count? 62 What is your home park? Rainbow's End What is the nearest big city? Auckland What is your occupation? Student About how many times a year do you visit a park (including your home park)? Once or twice About how many times a year do you travel to a park that is not your home park? Once every two or three years When you travel do you go primarily to amusement parks or do you also try and hit other sites? I go for the amusement parks while my family forces me along to other things What is the farthest you’ve traveled to go to an amusement park? New Zealand to the UK Does roller coaster time get in the way of family time? (Do you choose to miss your children’s or family’s sporting events, holidays, birthdays, etc…) No, usually I go with my family. Do you have any other major hobbies? Music and filmmaking Do you get feelings of sadness in the offseason? Do you even have an offseason? Do you travel during the offseason? NZ's only park is open year round ;D Do you consider yourself friends with someone you met who works at an amusement park? (Or reverse it, if you work or worked and an amusement park have you made friends with enthusiasts?) I haven't met any other enthusiasts yet Would it bother you to go to an amusement park by yourself? Nope. Have you gone to an amusement park by yourself? If so have you ever ran into another enthusiast and tagged along with them? Yes and no Do you find it easy to make friends with other enthusiasts? N/a How do you get your coaster news? The internet How many different forum sites do you regularly post on? Around 5 If there was a poll that asked a large pool of enthusiasts what their favorite roller coaster is, what do you think would be the top 3 responses be for wood? And for steel? Wood: El Toro, Boulder Dash, Balder. Steel: Expedition GeForce, Superman: Ride of Steel, Millenium Force Same scenario but for amusement parks, what would be the top 3? Cedar Point, any of the Disney parks, SFMM Have you ever “stole a kid” to get a credit on a kiddie coaster? Not yet Do you cut other categories out of your budget to make trips to parks? (Entertainment, fast food, holidays, tobacco or alcohol, etc…) Yes Before you visit a new park do you research the park finding the best way to navigate the park, get the best deals, or what days to go? I look up all the coasters and the best order to get on all of them Do you feel the roller coaster enthusiast community is a warm and accepting community, or a negative and discouraging community? It varies. A lot of the time it seems pretty negative over the internet, but I've never experienced a coaster event so I can't comment on that. Do you like to talk about your hobby with people who are not roller coaster enthusiasts? Not really. Snippets, but never a real conversation. -
A Rollercoaster In Your Front Room?

I like the way they made it look like they've just designed Expedition GeForce. -
V2 at SFDK can be a real crotch-crusher if you don't secure yourself tightly. That hangtime nearly killed me

I watched the movie twice on my flight back from the US. I think the main problem I had with the movie was the way it was marketed. It was advertised as"Superbad in an amusement park". What we got was something totally different. I liked what Greg Mottola did with Superbad, but this seemed a bit off. I can't decide if I liked the movie or not. The first time I watched it, I hated it. The second time I watched it, I enjoyed it more, but still didn't quite... get it. I mean, I haven't worked in an amusement park before, but I've never worked in a convenience store either and I loved Clerks. I guess the director didn't realise that if he names his movie after a theme park, people are going to go in to the cinema expecting to see some theme park. EDIT: Crap, didn't read the thread all the way through and just realised I ripped off what DCody said word-for-word Oh well, it's true.

Entertaining, funny ride ops.
stuartnz replied to GivenOneChance's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Ninja's crew was definitely my favourite. And the guy on Tatsu kept humming to the theme song playing in the station... then started asking people if they'd bought a copy of the Tatsu Soundtrack. The ride op on Xcelerator kept saying "Once you're finished on Xcelerator, make sure you try out Ghostrider. It's quite the ride..." -

California Screamin' was designed like that intentionally. The Paradise Pier area is themed to an old boardwalk amusement park, and I guess for whatever reason they didn't want a REAL woodie. But that first picture blows my mind. What were they thinking? -
Great TR! I've always wanted to visit Luna Park. Hasn't it closed down and reopened like 5 times or something? Looks like a fun little place. They moved it to Dreamworld. You didn't miss much, it's terrible.

The aquarium is amazing. After that, try to convince your parents to drive up to SFMM
