8/10 Great start to coaster riding. Keep on visiting parks!

iPhone 5S here. Had it since the week it was released. Much lighter than the 4S and very happy with it. I just wish iOS was a little more flexible at certain points (don't want to jailbreak) as I am not an Android fan. Saying that I am not a die hard Apple fan either. I just like iOS but would like it a slight bit more ... erm open.

Liseberg Discussion Thread

Wow. All that food looks excellent! Feeling very very hungry right now. Helix looks amazing and i'm so excited to go and ride it next year. The photo in a previous post of the tree all lit up was wonderful! So much stuff i'm looking forward at this park. It can't come quick enough. -
No. Have you ridden an RMC coaster this year?

I would love Alton to finally get the infamously rumoured woodie in the forest valley! More realistically just a major theming update for Nemesis to freshen it up for it's 20th year and maintenance and theming refreshes around the whole park. X Sector had a bit of a cleanup last year but from the point of guests standing in queue lines you do notice lots of things that could be patched up to help keep the park looking its best.

Weird/ Out of place coasters
rctneil replied to nhman93's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Oakwood's Hydro, (whilst not a coaster) is positioned very strangely. It also looks totally wrong being at a park as small as Oakwood is. The position the Ultimate is quite normal except for it's layout that goes a very very long way from it's starting point. I would also say that The Dragon, Mine Train and Hair Raiser look a little out of place at Ocean Park but they really did not have anywhere else to put them! I'm glad they didn't try to fit Hair Raiser in with the landscape and instead painted it bright yellow as I think it would look absolutely dreadful if they did a poor job at making it fit. How it is now is just right in my opinion. -
What's the worst station you've been in

I remember them doing that back in 09 and commenting how sudden they were! -
What's your most hated coaster company?
rctneil replied to mrlego611's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The Togo's in Japan really are not that bad. I thought the same when the only Togo's I had ridden were Manhattan Express and Shockwave but the Ultra Twisters were awesome, Surf Coaster was pretty cool too and the rest were reasonable. I think there is something cursing Togo's in the States though! -
Tokyo Disney Resort Discussion Thread
rctneil replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Always good to hear that Tokyo Disney has acquired more land. I think I agree with the thoughts of moving backstage stuff from areas closer to the park to the new land to make new room for in park attractions. I could also see them using the side of the land closest to the water as maybe an event space or similar. Would be a shame to waste that potential if they didn't. -
Best and Worst Arrow Mine Trains
rctneil replied to bgwfreak777's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've only ridden 3 of them: - River King Mine Train - Gold Rusher - Thunderation. I think out of them I have to say I enjoyed Thunderation the most. -
Ken's Random Adventures of 2013 Trip Reports Thread

Bit behind on trip reports. Just caught up now. Excellent report and was great reading back over the Japan trip. Thanks for sharing! I loved Blue Fall and I have to say the fake drop side was good but the best for me was the 100% straight down drop sides. Awesome! -
Best Roller Coaster you rode THIS MONTH!

I don't "get" standups
rctneil replied to etr102's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've had varying experiences with standups. The larger B&M ones are my favourites such as Riddler's. Mantis wasn't as good but still enjoyed it. Vortex at CGA and SFGA I hate with a passion. Shockwave at Drayton Manor I enjoy whereas Shockwave at Kings Dominion I don't care to ride ever again. So when I got to Standing Coaster at Rusutsu Resort I was dreading it but it was fine. The odd thing I noticed on that ride was that the height of the seat did not lock like all the others. You could feel the height vary as the ride cycled it's course. Especially weird throughout the loop. It felt as though you were getting stretched and the next moment squashed. Odd but cool. I wish B&M would build a brand new standup, it would be great to see what they could do with one these days. -
Gulliver's in Warrington have had a double rotating ferris wheel for a long time. Not sure if it's still there or even operating if it is but they 100% had one. Janfusun Fancyworld have a Huss Flyaway but it was looking very sad and SBNO when we were there. Camelot in Chorley used to have this old flat ride which was blue and you sat in two halves facing each other and then got pulled back and forth. Odd ride, not seen one elsewhere, wasn't that intense though.

Weird Coaster Facts

That's pretty neat. It's quite obvious that they would do it that way but you never really think about it. Nice to see photos of their construction. -

Adventuredome Discussion Thread

Really enjoying following this. It's very nice to see a new El Loco with a slightly altered layout to fit the area and seems to have a good (albeit unusual) selection of elements. -
A Doctor Who ride would have incredible scope. More than most rides do. So many environments, settings, scenarios, themes, characters and monsters. It would have to be incredibly well planned and organised for a park to pull if off decently. I would think that a best option for the ride (without needing to keep it updated with new doctors) is to have the riders attacked by a variety of monsters and the doctor is unable to come and help and so is out of the picture for the majority of it. Maybe a film clip at the beginning/end would be suitable. It would be very tricky to pull it off though.

Can't wait to see those cars flying around the track. Looks like it should do brilliantly for the Adventuredome.
