Most heavily themed theme park
rctneil replied to thrillrider's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I have to say I did forget about SDC and Dollywood as those are superbly themed as well but DisneySea beats all in this topic. -
Best Compact Coasters
rctneil replied to pgathriller's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Blackpool's Wild Mouse is an amazing but quite brutal a times ride and is extremely compact. I always thought that, excluding the first drop and turn, Knightmare at Camelot was a lot of coaster packed into a small area. -
Most heavily themed theme park

Some of the parks that I have thought are well themed: Busch Gardens Williamsburg - Very very well landscaped and it's nice just wandering around Universal parks, I love the studio feeling around the parks But the crown for this subject has to go to: Tokyo DisneySea. This is the most spectacular park on the planet. The level of detail is outstanding. You notice something new or clever or well thought out at every turn! -

Wow! Thanks for the update. They really are speeding through construction as of now. That drop out of the station looks brilliant. I take it the train does a 90 deg right hand bend out of the station and then down that drop? Going down the drop around that helix and straight into the first launch is going to be pretty epic and June cannot come fast enough! -
Theme Parks In Iraq.
rctneil replied to Gutterflower's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That's really neat to see what parks there are in Iraq. I knew a park there had a clone of G Force (I feel very very very sorry for them having to endure that!) but I didn;t know of other parks. Thanks! -

Alton Towers Discussion Thread
rctneil replied to Ed's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
All the Chance Inverters I have ridden have been extremely painful and a lot of them have just been sat there not operating so I do expect them to close one by one. I can't see Alton getting a drop tower as they will want something to market and I think they might have run out of ways to market rides that drop: - Oblivion, Worlds First Vertical Drop Roller Coaster - Thirteen, Worlds First Vertically Dropping Roller Coaster - Nemesis Sub Terra, (Is 4 drop towers at it's core) But knowing Merlin they would find a way! -

I asked about Single Rider on ToT and told there wasn't a single rider option and it was only available on Indy and Raging Spirits and they worked superbly. Indy was super quick to get onto (in fact, I think it took longer to walk the single rider queue line than wait to board once in the station!) -

Submission not reopening does not surprise me in the slightest. It has sounded like it has been falling to pieces for many years, as said above, the far side has not operated for quite some time. From what I have heard, ops running the ride have always hated it and it is 100% ready to go. I'm not quite sure what could replace it as the area it's in is not huge. But it is good news that it's very likely Alton will get a new flat ride and I think the park really needs one. -

^ Yes, that at least helped speed things up as it can be done whilst awaiting the previous train to load and leave. Was everyone else forced to remove their shoes on Eejanaika? Totally didn't make sense to me. Some parks make sure all rides are wearing shoes - I can understand this Some parks don't care and then there's Fuji Q that forces you to remove them! Is it just me or is there a logical reason for them forcing you to do so? Weird -

Once the first group had had their cycle, they got off and the second group of us got on it and the op pressed the "Go" button and the whole train jerked slightly but didn;t go anywhere! The op kept pressing the button and then Robb figured out that the op wasn't giving it enough time to recharge and therefore was wasting the power each time so we all hatched a plan to get her away from the controls so we said "oh well, never mind", all got off and wandered around the immediate area, then after 5-10 minutes we all tried again and low and behold, it worked! YAY! It was rather funny and i'd love to know if this has operated since. RCDB says it's SBNO but remember it was classed as "Closed" on the sign! -

This seriously happened. They are totally crazy at Fuji Q about this and it was insane, my watch was 1000 times more secure that a solid metal key on a flimsy elastic piece of string that was super loose around my wrist! Great report and it was a great surprise actually succeeding at riding all of Fuji's coasters in one day after all the horror stories I had heard. That being said we did have a great day thanks to Robb and Elissa and the fastpasses! -
When I was communicating with developers, they originally only had Intamin licenses back when they started doing custom ride / train requests. I asked for the B&M WingCoaster, and they said that they were seeking out more licenses, so have a plan B. One developer then told me that he had gotten a B&M license worked out and could make me a train. I said X-Flight trains would be best because they seem like the most "generic" of Wing Coaster trains. TL;DR - All the trains (hopefully) have an official license. I was the one who sorted out all the licenses for them, so yes, they do have them! AWESOME!

Adventure City getting new coaster for 2013?
rctneil replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Nice to see Adventure City getting something totally unique to the area. It seems like Gerstlauer's take on the Junior Boomerang. I hope it does well for them and it seems like it will provide a nice step up from Adventure City's kiddie coaster and a nice step down from slightly "bigger" rides at other local parks. -
Looks like i'll have to dig my version of Windows out and get it installed on Bootcamp. I pledged for it to help Pantera out with their Kickstarter and hope they would reach their stretch goal of a Mac version. It's a shame they didn't but I can live with that! It looks a really spectacular game and the amount of detail included is excellent. I noticed that on the Steam site, there is a video showcasing coaster trains and they are all referred to by manufacturer name, are these all officially licensed (I realise Intamin will be as they wrote about that) but wondered about the others. The trains are so realistic and it will make parks built using this game so much nicer.
