  1. The Mine Train here was actually really good and looks great flying through that rock structure. It was weird seeing how the other Happy Valley parks all had Vekoma Mine Trains, this one had the new Intamin Mine Train and Wuhan had a knockoff Golden Horse clone of the Vekoma version. Oh well. It's China... I really liked this Happy Valley, as an awesome woodie, Dive coaster and a Mega Lite all in one park has got to be good doesn't it? The Mega Lite was running very well too. Was this the park with the really poor Spiderman knockoff that was (I think) themed around a rescue from a tropical island or something? All the theming was in pitch black so I think all I can remember are a couple of silhouetted palm trees! I think the only annoying part of that day was the silly Pizza Hut failing to notice the same song on repeat in the background all day!
  2. This sounds like a most excellent idea!
  3. I rode Colossus in the 3rd row from the back earlier this year and I expected the worst. I came off the ride pleasantly surprised by how well it was running! Isn't it amazing how coasters can differ in ride experience just different seating, trains, weather etc!
  4. That looping toboggan is still the coaster that has scared me the most! The vertical lift inside that rusting tube and the tiny loop. That thing look precarious on all levels. Thanks for the report!
  5. Thanks for posting Divv. It sure was an interesting place to visit and I wouldn't mind taking a trip back there. The river cruise that evening was really great though and yes Larry attempting to barter for the laser pen was hilarious. Especially when the one he ended up with was nowhere near as good as the example shown to him!
  6. Just seen the POV of Walrus Splash. Very impressive theming during the gentle first half with the rockwork and I assume the enclosure you ride past will contain live walrus's? (or is that walri? ). Not terribly surprised about the coasters name being changed to Parrot Coaster as Chimelong's names for their coasters were not terribly inventive. But yes Flying over the Rainforest was a fine name for it.
  7. I rode Pilgrim's Plunge a couple of times when I visited Holiday World in 2010 and enjoyed it. Was unique (at the time) and made a shance to a standard shoot the chute type ride. Even though the lift wasn't terribly scary and just a different way of getting to the top, the long drawn out shallow drop was really enjoyable. I also loved the fact that Holiday World allowed people from the theme park and Splashin' Safari to both be able to experience it. It's a shame it's going, but it now gives them the opportunity to build something better,
  8. Looks excellent. June is edging closer and closer!
  9. Megafobia at Oakwood Theme Park. I have to say that this ride was running absolutely amazingly. It's a stunning and awesome ride. I wish it was more well known. Very very fast. Got 13 rides during the day on it. Best woodie in the UK for sure!
  10. Brilliant to finally seen a train midway through it's course. Can't wait to see a POV.
  11. Great news to hear it made it around the circuit. It's going to be awesome riding this for the first time. Is it June yet?
  12. Fantastic read so far. Thanks for posting. Really great to hear all the stories behind it. Can't wait to read more!
  13. There is definitely apple-cinnamon as it was there in July last year. It wasn't bad at all. My favourites are Black Pepper and Apple Cinnamon. The Soy sauce and Butter was ok but didn't care for the Curry flavour. Strawberry and Honey were my other two favourites.
  14. Fuji-Q and Tokyo Disney are more than opposites of each other in terms of friendliness, theming, rides/attractions and efficiency. It is very hard to believe that these two places are in the same country and not a million miles apart from one another. I saw a blog post a while back from someone who visited Fuji-Q and DisneySea and she 100% said she would go back to Fuji-Q over DisneySea. MADNESS!
  15. My two for today: This small boat was from Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village. A lovely little park near Sun Moon Lake in Taiwan: And one from Silver Dollar City showing the Giant Swing:
  16. Here's some more from me: Rita at Alton Towers: Oblivion at Alton Towers:
  17. It still surprises me how that park can actually exist in that country. Everywhere else they are super friendly and go out of their way to help you with even the most minor of things but then there is Fuji Q in the same place but none of the friendliness, service or helpfulness.
  18. 100% the Wild Mouse at Blackpool. That thing is insane and throws you around the corners so brutally. Excellent ride though but brace yourselves for every turn.
  19. Oh no, Not another haunted walkthrough I have to force myself into? HELP!!!
  20. I'm sorry you had such a bad day at Fuji Q. It really is a pain and a big disappointment when you finally get to visit a park on your bucket list and it repays you like that. Your trip can only get better and the glorious parks of the Tokyo Disney resort will make you totally forget about Fuji Q. After hearing about your day there I can honestly say I appreciate my good day there last year about 10 times over what I thought originally. Many many thanks to R&E for the work they put in then. Anyway, I hope Kawasemi lives upto your expectations today!
  21. Robb, Did you have to remind me of how much I miss this place? Tokyo Disney Resort is amazing, especially DisneySea! the rides, the friendliness, the details and theming are all outstanding. Only thing I regret is not seeing all the endings of Stormrider! I will 100% be back sometime as it was an excellent few days and thoroughly enjoyed wandering around it all and seeing everything the parks had to offer. (oh and getting introduced to the wonders of Gyoza). Slightly OT: I walked past the Disney Store in the Trafford Centre a few weeks ago and some staff members were outside asking people who their favourite Disney character was (Not sure why) and I got asked, I said Shiriki and was told, not surprisingly that they had never heard of him). Oh well. Shiriki FTW!
  22. I was at the Annual Pass Preview day at Thorpe Park yesterday. We arrived around 9:45 and were let inside the park promptly. All rides seemed to be running apart from Samurai and Slammer. (Slammer was testing though). Rides seemed to be running really well. Saw was excellent in the front row and dreadfully in the back row. We rode Colossus in the second row from the back and it was as smooth as anything. I had high expectations to be bashed, bruised and beaten by the end but I was pleasantly surprised. Stealth and Swarm all ran superbly too. Inferno was down to only one train so queues built up for that. X is now just a very strange and weird ride. We actually rode it 3 times just because it was fun. The coaster itself isn't terrible, especially now it's forwards and does a complete cycle without stopping. Staff were very pleasant and the weather was perfect. Onwards to Alton next weekend!
  23. Blackpool's dark rides have that kind of charm where the ride and theming really are not great but somehow the whole thing works in some awkward way. Alice, Ghost Train, Gold Mine and River Caves all seem to have it. Wallace and Gromit is not the best dark ride in the world but for what Blackpool required it is perfect. W&G fit in so well at Blackpool so it's a perfect park to have this ride. The whole area around the renovations looks much nicer too and it always seems to have a queue when i've been. The shop full of W&G merchandise is amazing. So much stuff I want to buy! Oh and yes, The Wild Mouse at BP is still one of my most favourite rides in the UK. It's an insane crazy mish mash of mice and wood!
