Fuji-Q Highlands Discussion Thread
Nrthwnd replied to Ed's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
(after watching vid) Uh - yeah - tests kool. Even going up that lift hill took - for - e - ver. And then the car slooooooowwwwly edged forward..... and then...down. Geez, the whole ride vid itself looked and timed longer than it (normally) would/should have. But of course, this is testing the thing out, right? Uh huh? But then at Fuji-Q: One car + lift hill = Guaranteed 3-4 Hour Queues, LOL! -
Back from Playland this afternoon, with a few more construction pix of Atmosfear... (Pardon the overcast skies and blurry focus.) We got CRANE ONSITE! (o: Pulling back further, for a bigger shot. Note the ride ops building on the left. At the back is the rotating piece that the arms and seats are held on. The crane is preparing to lift that piece onto the tower, and then the tower pieces themself, will follow. Between the crane and the tower, I see the two sets of seats for the ride. Another far shot. Nothing was really moving down onsite, at the time I was there, but it did look like things were going to happen (build), soon. Closest I can get to "see the seats," heh heh. Thru the construction fencing. A bit closer look at the seats, and a worker in back there, doing something with the rotation piece.

"Spooky Mormon Hell Dream" from the Broadway cast cd of The Book of Mormon

Just saw a performance of the 2nd US/Canada touring production of Wicked, on Wednesday night... ...and it! Both leads were great - amazing singers together and solo. All the cast in fact, was great singing-wise. I loved the whole show, from start to finish. And a bunch of us were already on our feet as the first of the ensemble took their bows! And I think they were happily surprised the ovation wasn't just for the leads, heh heh. That was cool to enjoy, with their reaction, lol. It was an awesome show, and I am so glad I FINALLY got to see it ~ and ironically, also enjoyed Avenue Q just a few months earlier. First time also touring here. Timing, hmm?

Forget the coasters! It's all about FOOD in Japan! -
^ Congrats on your casting, lol! It's quite the part. "Millie" was done here a couple of years back in our Theatre In The Park. And the actress playing Mrs.Meers certainly was enjoying her time on stage, you could definitely tell from it. Enjoy it, break a leg - and enjoy the extra added stress of multi-tasking, heh heh. Unless of course, you're not the Assistant Chor. any more? Now that your new casting has ocurred?

I feel sorry for the other cake. (Although I bet it was just as delicious.)

Broadway Original Cast cds are coming out this month, fast and furious... I get mine thru Amazon.com and can never wait for my home shop to (eventually, yawn) get "them" in, lol! And "see you all at The TONYs" online or on CBS, next Sunday evening, viewing times varied. (ALSO - "about that other Best Revival nom".... The Great News is that "Anything Goes" with Sutton Foster, Joel Grey, and it's 9 TONYs-nominated company will get recorded, and released ..before end of summer I heard. Here's hoping!) Harry Potter in Big Business circa-1960s! With the amazing tv-pro John Larroquette. Best Musical Revival nominee. Out tomrrow, June 7th. 14 TONY noms - by "South Park" and "Avenue Q" creators - it's an original musical - and Everybody LOVES IT! Including some Mormons!!! (o: Also out tomorrow, June 7th. The story of the New Jersey housewife-producer you never heard of - till now - The Shirells' finder. A pioneer in a male-dominated (then) recording business. Best Actress nom for Beth Leavel. Out June 14th. So THIS One Finally Opens, two days after the TONYS. And so does it's "Music From" CD ~ With Orig.Cast Members included. I'm open and willing to listen for myself. Released June 14th. Based on an actual life story in the early 1960s.... "Live In Living Color"! Not a lot of TONY noms, but am looking forward very much to this one, penned by the "Hairspray" guys. And it comes out June 28th.

We finally had it dry enough for a couple of days, to take care of cleaning the front yard up - a lot, heh heh. Mowing what lawn we can find with the moss and "other plants" here and there in the small patch, in front of our home. And some tree pruning done too, which was needed. So - feel much better now, for the front yard too, and that I am just over a week away... ...for my TPR Japan trip!!!

Atmosfear Construction BUMP Back from the park with a few mini-pix. Not much changed with the foundation or the building of the 'tower' itself. And included a couple of 'scenic shots' from the ferris wheel - knowing it will be much higher (and faster turning!) on Atmosfear. Enjoy. As I go up on the wheel, the view of Atmosfear gets...better. Our beautiul Coaster is in background. Tower pieces awaiting assembly. Still. A better look at how everything's doing there. Look like entry/exit ramping being built, this side of it. A view from the ferris wheel - part of the mountain range that 'frames' our city. More mountains. Great view. From any tall ride, lol! A last look at Atmosfear and it's base. And you can juuust make out the Coaster there in the back of everything.

He also appears to be a semi-professional..... button-maker from time to time, lol. The button in question ~ Hi Big MIke! ~ that Robin.... made back in... 2009? -
Decided to finally use this one I've had, but never posted in addition to... the other stuff. In tribute to the new Ariel's Undersea Adventure opening (this weekend!) at DCA and (eventually) at WDW's Magic Kingdom. (And anywhere else it may eventually end up, lol.)

^ Yes, I was sad to find out that "Musical Circus" was no more. The park has replaced it with a ...4-D movie thing? Not sure, but it just won't be the same without MC. But - thank goodness for the all-day pass (I hope, still) to the Ice House, LOL! And.... The Magical Musical Escalator Ride! -

Am happy and very thankful that in just less than two weeks now, I start another TPR tour - to Japan. And best of all - Tokyo Disney Resort. And already, I am thinking about going back on another TPR Scandi tour, if offered! Life is good, if the body (still) allows it, lol.

Robin, that vid of yours was so... atmospheric. Awesome! I guess 'toy cameras' some times pay off, hmmm? Oh yes, and the parks/rides/adventure looked excellent too - it looked like everybody had a great time together. -

Nrthwnd replied to thrillerman1's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Just - awesome, Mark. What a find, I must say. And that might be the Orient Express train I rode in, back on my 1995 tour, lol. Wonderful look-thru, Mark. And the captions were spot on, too. But I still don't like those ringOfire things. Evil evil evil. Ick. IMhO. (EDIT to add...Reply #699...hmmm, me and my 3's.)
