At the park this afternoon, while a Whitecaps' soccer match was happening, next door at Empire Stadium. Took a few more, ongoing pix of Atmosfear construction. Tower pieces are still not getting any assembly love yet, LOL. A few bits and pieces I didn't notice before. And what I'd call the 'kite' frames for it, there? Maybe not. And how it looks, this weekend. Not much, but the base foundation is slowly coming together.

The Ray's "For All you Japan Trip Losers :("Japan Report!!
Nrthwnd replied to jray21's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Great ongoing report, Joey. And do you remember if the Children Coaster in Nagashima Spaland still "sounded" like a dog was being run over??? Amazingly LOUD screeching sound it made, every time the train of cars did their cycle and then into the station. Awful, awful screech. And of course, this coaster did at least three cycles to make your ears even more ultra-sensitive to any sound. Good times. The Shoot The Chute boat ride there was also where I picked up my woooonderful, long-wearing rain poncho for the ride and the rest of the tour back in 2007. And it's held up for the past several tours, since then. Looking foward to more, thanks for sharing! -

I spoke with one of the ride ops earlier today on my visit to the park. He told me that this new attraction was the real start of improvements, upgrades and enhancements to make Playland a true... dare I say... themepark-like destination. Kool! And...we'll see, lol. But - photo below shows where the BumperCars went. They are in that green and yellow-striped tent up in right top corner of pic? It's now located between the Kettle Creek coaster, and Hellevator. And the entrance/exit to Gladiator was put on the opposite side of it's footprint, now opposite BreakDance. And I think they are possibly/probably going to have a single riders' line available. Not sure at all. Just a hunch. There's the Bumps' Tent! (o:

Construction BUMP Was just at the park today, and got a few pics of what's been happening with AtmosFear since I was last there. Looks like the parts of the tower have been put together and are waiting for final assembly. Looks like the foundation has 'set'. Closer, better view of the foundation and the base of the tower.

I had a nice, long, bubble bath. It was bliss. Is that what The Rapture is? Bliss?

Best Miniature Golf courses
Nrthwnd replied to Rastuso's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I miss Putt-Putt courses. It was a franchise of mini golf courses, mainly in the USA, but there were a few in Canada. Simple layouts, but challenging nonetheless. And they had cross-franchise tournaments and big money events, back in the day. There was one here in Vancouver, and I remember going to it at least once a month. (EDIT to add: There's actually a course out at Playland {Adventure Golf}, and I keep reminding myself that even though it's an upcharge, it's certainly worth trying out, at least once during a park visit.) -

Mmmm. Plan/Hope to be there in Sept. of 2013. And I hope it'll be ready by then. -
^ How many in a bag? 5? 6? Congrats on finding new awesomeness in Oreos! (Have no idea if they'll show up here in Canada.)

BUMP Was at the park today, and took a few pix of the Atmosfear site with my mini-digital camera. The weather was overcast. Cloudy. Icky-looking. Not great shots, but better than nothing, hmm? Sign on the construction fence, noting upcoming opening goodness, lol. The base, poking up over the construction fence. A shot taken a bit farther away from the ride. Taken from the ferris wheel - bits and piece of Atmosfear, ready to be put together. Still from the wheel, looking at the construction of Atmosfear. A better "overhead shot" of how Atmosfear's construction is going. One of the other signs near the construction fence. Opening July 1st!

James Durbin was voted off American Idol tonight. Sad. And I wasn't even a big fan of metal rock. But still, he was great IMhO, and he rawked with a lot of passion. Sucks.

A very trippy opening for a coaster, lol! All the artists (and artwork done!) there, the "Coca Cola Girls," the fireworks... So - how was the coaster itself? -

Very nice video, Mario. It certainly clears up (for me) "what happens where" in the attraction, lol. Thanks! -
