Photo TR: Andy's Visit to Camden Park
DBru replied to The Great Zo's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Great report Andy! I’m a tad bit ashamed that I lived in Kentucky for the first 23 years of my life and never made it to Camden Park (my college roommate was actually from Huntington and begged me not to risk my life), but I’m hoping the place sticks around long enough for me to make it there eventually. They used to have one of those Skydiver flat rides that I’ve always wanted to try out. Seems as though that opportunity has passed. -
Six Flags to operate Frontier City again

^^Why wouldn’t they? Almost every one of their parks has either a Gerstlauer spinning coaster or mouse, and SFOG has Dare Devil Dive. -

165’ seems quite tall, but could be be looking at something like the new Fury at Bobbejaanland? https://rcdb.com/16110.htm -
Saw Spider-man: Far From Home last night and thought it was SO much fun! Tom Holland absolutely knocks this character out of the park, and he’s only getting better as the movies progress. Also saw Ma recently and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys campy horror. It was hilarious and thrilling in all the right places. I’m not sure if I’ll ever be able to watch Octavia Spencer the same way again.

Your reports are great! I’m glad you had a great time at Holiwood Nights. I think I saw you in passing a couple times! The only thing I have to disagree with you on is Kentucky Flyer being perfectly smooth. For such a new ride, I thought it tracked really poorly—similar to Mine Blower. I’m not sure if it’s a construction thing or a Timberliner thing, but even though I thought both coasters were super fun, they both bounced around enough to give me a little headache after a couple rides.

Waldameer Discussion Thread
DBru replied to Millennium ForceJZ's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Super unfortunate because this ride is the PERFECT fit for a park like Waldameer. I rode Kentucky Kingdom’s a couple weeks ago and it was an absolute BLAST! I personally thought it was more fun (with funkier sensations) than the giant frisbees. -

Great report Steve! Maxx Force looks like a blast and that launch looks EPIC! I’m still not sure about considering that final element to be two inversions, but hey, if Six Flags keeps building new custom ground-up coasters, I’ll call them whatever they want. Does that little hop right after the launch give any airtime?

Coasters having expiration dates?
DBru replied to Samuel's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Millennium Force immediately came to my mind when I saw this thread. Even with modern construction practices, all steel/metal has a fatigue life, right? So at some point in the future Cedar Point will have to decide whether to remove Millennium Force or replace the materials. It’s such an iconic coasters, so I can’t fathom that they would scrap it. But at the same time, I can’t imagine them dropping another $30 mil (or more?) to replace the track... And Magnum? Eek. That seems even more controversial. I can’t see the park removing that coaster either...but some of its support beams are already being held together with zip ties. -

I LOVE the theming on this ride (which is something I can’t say about the rest of the park ), especially the incorporation of old parts of Robin Hood. It looks fantastic! Hopefully those lines die down quickly...like, very quickly. Lol -
Indiana Beach (IB) Discussion Thread

Holiday World swapped out their hydraulic restraints for ratcheting restraints. I’m guessing S&S gave parks the option to either add the lap seatbelts or switch out the shoulder harnesses. -
Kentucky Kingdom (SFKK, KK) Discussion Thread
DBru replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Keep in mind that you’ll be losing an hour due to the time zone change going from Holiday World to Kentucky Kingdom! Also, a lot of the queue lines close at least 15 minutes before the posted park closing time in order to “empty out the line” by closing. Have fun!!! -
Thanks for the review, Robb! Appreciate the openness and honesty about the ride experience. All of my Orlando friends keep saying that the coaster is “WAY more intense than anyone expected” and “the park is considering dropping ‘family’ coaster from marketing materials.” But I think most of them enjoy riding the hype train or have forgotten what an intense coaster feels like. Lol

I remember riding a Caterpillar (or something resembling one) a few years ago at either Miracle Strip in Panama City or Broadway at the Beach in Myrtle Beach. Each of those attractions had like 3 rides set up from the former parks, so I get them confused in my memory. -

If nothing else, the thing sure is visually impressive. I've always found those S&S restraints to be quite comfortable, but I haven't experienced any that constantly tighten. Surely they weren't as bad as the Inverters, right? (I wish we could add those to this list ) -

I’m so sad I never got to ride one of these. I was totally fascinated by them. Can someone describe the ride experience?
