Gardaland Discussion Thread
DBru replied to Rockman89's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm weird but this thing was legitimately my #1 draw to Gardaland. I'm sure it was painful, etc, but it looked so quirky and diving 180* over those drops had to be a uniquely thrilling sensation. I'm sad I'll never get to experience it now. But alas! -

Lol. Yup. I'm just now realizing that the pictures of the train in the station among the construction photos on this page are just concept art. -
Tusenfryd Discussion Thread
DBru replied to Shadowforce's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm confused. In some pictures the track is red and in others the track is blue. But there are no pictures that show both red track AND blue track! What kind of mindgames is Tusenfryd playing on me right now?! -
I went last weekend and was really pleasantly surprised! The area is larger, better themed, and more immersive than I expected. It does admittedly feel like something is "missing" with the lack of the Yoshi omnimover ride, but everything it does have (the ride, mini games, animatronics, restaurant) is a lot of fun. I was worried the ride system chosen for the Mario Kart ride would make it seem slow and boring, but I didn't feel that way at all while riding. Overall, a great addition to Universal Studios Hollywood, and if the rumors are true with a Donkey Kong coaster expansion, that will really make it feel complete.

What a fun surprise announcement! Kings Island could use a modern thrilling flat. Glad they went with the larger model! -

If they're not going to build an indoor ride, this is easily the second-best addition I can think of for this park! And it looks gorgeous. -
I knew moving 2 blocks from USH would pay off if I could just hold out for 10 years!!! Actually, though, this is really exciting. Universal Hollywood is really lacking in attractions compared to its competitors and this will be a huge draw for it. I also don't really see the need for the capacity-reducing "drifting" cars, but I'll take it whatever we get. BRING ON THE INTAMIN!!!!

A 460 foot backwards spike (that the train doesn't even make it all the way up) is one way to claim the title of "World's Tallest Coaster." Just saying. -

Fingers crossed we get a 20 foot animatronic black bear in the finale! -

I had two burgers/sandwiches at Uhrwerk and they were both ridiculously delicious. The Navigator (chicken) and The Captain (steak), I believe. -

Unfortunate they deviated from the lap bars, but I get it. Glad Gerstlauer has redesigned the OTSRs though--their original design certainly wasn't comfortable. -
Six Flags Fiesta Texas (SFFT) Discussion Thread

It's interesting to me that you balk at coaster enthusiasts for judging a park based on its coaster collection whereas you seem to judge a park based almost entirely on its Fast Lane experience. -

Was also confused by liltrekkie's comment, given the ride has been down for a month and I was told it would likely be down another 8 weeks. Now, why a medium sized modern GCI, one of the most popular rides in the park, would be closed throughout the busiest season of the year... that's a true mystery! That said, I visited the park last Sunday and it looked to be in really fantastic shape compared to my visit in 2020 (American Thunder was also down that day ). I was fortunate not to have to wait for Catwoman Whip but it's legitimately an INCREDIBLE ride. Management is very happy with it. Apparently even guests who wait 3 hours come off saying it was worth it. But yeah... capacity sucks. I didn't see Mr. Freeze's second train anywhere on site. Hopefully it reappears shortly. But the new lights in the tunnel (which change from blue/white on the launch to rainbow on the return) are an awesome touch! Also loved the topiary tunnels with colorful umbrellas and other fun decorations. I'm a Boss stan but damn is it brutal right now, even in a non-wheel seat. Eagle was also quite painful sitting in the very back row. But my tolerance was admittedly low following HoliWood Nights, though. It's too bad you guys never got that B&M hyper. The park's ride collection still feels pretty solid, but it does feel like it's lacking a standout modern steel coaster. -
Kentucky Kingdom (SFKK, KK) Discussion Thread
DBru replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I say stick with your original plan. Gaining (as opposed to losing) that extra hour driving from KK to Holiday World is crucial. If you're just interested in riding the coasters at HW, midday is actually the best time to arrive. Crowds will likely be high on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend, but most of those crowds will be absorbed by the (giant) waterpark at that time of day. -
Heide Park Discussion Thread
DBru replied to Sebbe's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Tacking onto the above questions... Some friends and I are visiting Hansa Park and Heide Park in mid-June. Unfortunately, due to scheduling, we'll have to do one of them on a Saturday (and the other on a Sunday). Does anyone have advice on which park we should do on which day? Is one park more susceptible to Saturday crowds than the other? The issue is that Heide Park seems to have a lot more rides to experience...but Colossos is probably the only coaster we'll care to reride (hopefully a few times). Whereas Hansa Park seems smaller with fewer rides...but Karnan, Fluch Von Norgod, and Nessie all seem super re-rideable. Would love to hear thoughts from locals or anyone who's been in a similar situation with these parks before! -

Seeing that 7 of SFNE's 11 coasters are clones (and another is a super-generic B&M floorless), I'd really love to see them get a unique custom coaster for their next addition. The park felt like clone-city to me with one truly standout attraction. With that said, a large(ish) B&M dive coaster seems like it would be great for that location in the park, and definitely a welcome addition to the lineup.

I don't think it's weird at all to want to ride on the same train as your friends. Part of the fun of riding coasters is seeing the in-the-moment reactions of the people you're with. Dkepler, my friends and I wouldn't think twice about sharing a car on Avalanche. But everybody's different.
