  1. That's some awesome work! Well done. I may have to ask you for some advice on things.
  2. Oh, so it's the old "Bait and Switch" eh, SFNE? Next thing you know, those Viper cars aren't the real McCoys... I cook up a plausible back story, and look what happens. Sheesh. Hmmm...so how to explain this one away..... Go it. It was space aliens. They picked me up with their mind powers, shook me like a dog, and created temporal rip in the space time continuum, allowing a "parallel universe Swat" to be transported into this universe and put in TPR-Land. Now the big question. If it's from a parallel universe, is it Eeeeevil? *Note to self - Get better writers, don't quit the day job, and knock off the Starbucks for a while...
  3. Yes. Yes I do. And...I'm not ashamed. We have severe cool points and dignity ruptures on deck 32, and not even bypassing the EPS conduits will stop them. Containment shields failing Captain... Kidding aside, glad to see other ST/SW ship collectors. Chuck, you have a very cool and inspiring holiday set-up. Well done.
  4. Wow! Thank you all for the nice words. That's a toughy... Last I heard, management was negotiating with Six Flags America for a couple Ultra Twister cars to go with Viper and Swat. If all goes well, this is likely the last set of coaster trains to go on display in the park. TPR-Land just wasn't complete without him. Daniel needed a place somewhere nice. The memorial is just down the walk from the guest house on right before Geauga Pass. Yeah, I got misty-eyed too. Never met the guy, but enjoyed his posts. The gold Maverick train was only fitting. I hope it honors him and his friends here approve.
  5. While I haven't had this problem, best bet is to back up what files you can (tracks, parks, pictures, etc...) somewhere and uninstall then reinstall. Luckily, those files are pretty easy to get to in the different My Documents folders. Bummer this happened to you and I feel for you. If it makes you feel better, hope fully you haven't pulled the "I just clicked the wrong park name in the save list and erased work on that project" routine. That one derailed a lot of progress on an Opryland project and I spent many nights in the Angry Dome. Hang in there and good luck.
  6. Well gang, this week at work has just been kicking my arse. Seriously! By the time I've gotten home, I haven't had nearly as much time to work on TPR-Land. Did get a few additions over this past weekend. Time for pics. Finally, a heartfelt and respectful memorial to Masked Maverick, aka Daniel Miller. He's surrounded by one of the things here dearly loved in life, roller coasters, including a gold train from Cedar Point's Maverick. Astroworld's Swat also finds it's new home in Arrow Bend. Seems SFNE was quick to remove the ride and get rid of part of an old Schwartzkopf Viper train that was used in a halloween display. By pure chance, an Astroworld sign came with the Viper train. Riders cross a symbolic bridge to enter Swat, just as they would've at Astroworld. Glad to see it running again. Opryland USA's Tennessee Waltz was discovered in storage in Nashville recently. Seems a local production company bought the ride and intended to use it in a video for an up and coming country star. The artist didn't quite make it and the ride sat in storage, forgotten. Since the production company went bankrupt, they sold off their assets, including TW. It's new home is in Arrow Bend here in TPR-Land. An early Hypersonic XLC train in the train garden at Arrow Bend. It's from the 1950's. (That's a classic car joke for the literal folks and those who don't quite get my humor.) Just a fun pic of the repainted Boardwalk Typhoon in Geauga Pass. Why do I have a sudden urge to play Dead or Alive? Wierd... The Straight Shooters, formerly of Western Chute-Out at Hershey Park. Gello shooters and wrestling coming soon. For you Porcelain Goddess bowl slide fans. Best part is, you don't have to jiggle the handle.
  7. Robb, if it makes you feel better, with all the chaos this week at work, I didn't have the right mind or energy for my usual wednesday workout. As they say in the computer biz "Shift Happens". You're still doing great from when you started and many are proud of you for working so hard at your goals.
  8. Soren, This was really neat to see your trip to Rio, as I've hardly been outside the US. The views were gorgeous. Glad you two had a good time and you both make a terrific couple. The McDonald's stand on the beach seemed like something out of Roller Coaster Tycoon and the airplane beside the runway was just addtional airport "themeing". Dumb question, but what was the deal with the room you had bad feelings about staying in? Didn't quite get the joke there. Thanks for sharing these.
  9. Great decor Chuck! You're also the first person I've known to put the Disney Monorail around the tree instead of a train. Very cool. While I do not have the working rollercoaster ornament, I do have several of the Star Trek and Star Wars light up ship ornaments going back to 1994. Sadly, the way cool DS9 was crunched in an unfortunate closet accident. Tried to find the Snoopy Beagle Scouts ornament at Hallmark today in honor of former MOA Camp Snoopy, but no such luck. Definately a fun PTR. Glad you put it up. Edit: The festive decor reminded me of a couple Christmas's ago when my girlfriend made stockings for all our pets and put them on the cages. She made a couple for she and I too. Very sweet of her. Our other boys Piglet (hairless hamster in small purple cage) and Oreo (black and white teddy bear hamster in blue space cage), also got stockings. Marshall was her hairless rat and he got a big gift of a brand new cage and a stocking.
  10. Best food - Opryland cheese logs (I know, I know, said a million times before, but true) Worst food - Old Hard Rock Cafe at Universal Florida. Tasteless, charred, over-priced burger. Weakness!
  11. I know MOA dropped Peanuts because of the higher licensing fees, but... Snoo oo oopy, Snoo oo oopy, come home Snoopy, come home come home... Good Grief!
  12. Try to get some mine train or family or kiddie coaster credits. 2 credits out of 32 years is pretty weak. The big stuff is out due to motion sickness, but the other stuff might be doable. Sounds sad, but it's what I have to work with. If I feel really brave, SFoG Goliath...the test seat.
  13. Ok, while I'm definitely for another park in the Nashville area, I really don't know if this Ole South concept could theme/support said park. 1. Way too easy to fall into various southern stereotypes. "Hey ya'll, get in the truck! We goin to muddin today and then to Redneck Land!" 2. Though emphasizing southern hospitality, too easy to bring up bad feelings related to the Civil War. Somebody will have issues. If people today flip out about the Dukes of Hazard's General Lee car's confederate paintjob from the 70's, they'll find something minute to fuss over here. 3. Blatantly obvious it's an Opryland knock-off. Sorry guys, that park and the feel surrounding it just can't be duplicated. Much as I love that park, it's a sad and true fact. I've lived in Alabama a good chunk of my life and have come to enjoy many of the charms and quirks of Southern culture. Just recently discovered 7-Up cake and love it! So I'm NOT bashing the South at all. I just see difficulties in the current theme and think a different one would be better suited and might reflect better on the area. Granted, it's early, and the designers could do a really nice job that put's things in a positive light, but a separate and fresh concept might be a better idea here. Important note. Dollywood has done a WONDERFUL job blending Southern culture, fun and entertainment. It might be better for Ole South to look in that direction instead of Antebellum Plantation. For the record, I want to see this park and the new Splash Valley in Chattanooga succeed, because we NEED more quality parks in the area.
  14. Had I the resources and means, I would. Sadly, something like that is not my destiny in this life, but the compliment makes me smile. (chuckling) Hey, glad you both liked it. That one was definately inspired. Had a few laughs building it. Thank you. (Looks around...)It's an Aquatrax, but that's between you and me, ok? Don't tell nobody. Still miles to go, but glad the park is doing what it's designed to do, entertain and bring smiles.
  15. Several have said "these designs are too ambitious, etc...". Walt Disney was told similarly about his dream and, though he had several things to fix, built 2 wonderful parks that we still enjoy today. Glad he didn't follow that kind of thinking. Back during the time the drawings were made, designers were encouraged to think big, just as they are today. We term it "create a great, never before seen, interactive, etc... entertainment experience " and say "think outside the box", but it's the same idea. They were brainstorming and refining. What wonderful creativity to come about, inspite of the limited technology, resources, etc. Too bad these ideas were shelved, since they seemed to be designed with that certain fun and whimsy that was prominant in 60's and 70's. Parks then may not have had as many technically advanced rides, but they were a lot more fun. Better, warmer, happier vibe. No, it wasn't those funny little cigarettes, or too much perm solution either. These diagrams are great historical pieces. Thank you for posting them.
  16. It's 1:30 am, and this tuna I'm eating is great!
  17. Black Henley LS Shirt Wrangler Bootcut Jeans Black Military Belt Brown Socks Black Crocs Claddough ring given me by my girlfriend Silver band that was the first nice piece of jewelry I ever bought for myself Hey, it's late and I'm going on a midnight food run to Walmart.
  18. What does this mean for Robb? Doesn't he work for Activision? Concerned here because mergers usually clear out many duplicate/extra/unneeded positions in order to save money. Hope things are ok for the Alveys.
  19. Brad Paisley about in March 2006. Great show and got to visit with a college friend I hadn't seen in years who works on the show. Paisley's guitar playing would give Eddie Van Halen a run. Great fun show!
  20. Lotsa progress over the weekend. Still no main entance I need a Vault Icee. Okay, onto pics... Looks like it's BBQ time at the guest house. Uh-oh. THAT much fire can't be good. Ghetto Fair got a working Kaos. And there was much rejoicing...by the Kaos and Python fans. Onboard Texas Twister, the nearby theme buildings were painted a similar green and tan to honor the originals. The creepy tree is even there, minus the really creepy hag on the bed. Soul Glow Rapids now uses grey boats to honor Grizzly Run and there's a Raging Wolf Bobs train displayed nearby, just as the two were close by at Geauga Lake Next is Geauga Pass (formerly Intamin Gap). Yes, more hand-me-downs, repainted and tuned up from Geauga Lake. Some of the waterpark entrance themeing. Yes, that ripple is where you land. Weeeeeeee! The Beer Funnel, just like some imports, has an extra "kick" at the end. It doesn't deliver you gently into the catch pool. Oh no. It ARCS you into it from several feet above. Just follow the blue mat. (Thanks Adrenaline_Rush) The newly named Kegger's Island got sand! See? Sand! Oh, and some car funnel slide thingy. TPR-Land overview. Hope everybody enjoyed the update.
  21. These guys do some really cool work. Humerously, the enclosed slides remind me of hamster habitrail tubes, especially the Tantrum. Good idea! That's going in TPR-Land.
  22. Interesting ideas for both and the Eagle seems to be following the shorter train/wider train trend in the past couple years. The whole time watching the first footage, I kept thinking "Oh look! An Eagle!"
  23. That was neat to see, particularly the motobikes at Toverland, the bobsled at Heide Park, and the rapids Gardaland. Some good pictures, man.
  24. Hadn't heard of this park. You taught me something new today. Had to look at the pic twice and laughed both times. Good caption!
  25. Nice! Diggin the blue LEDs! Yay for Tuners and customizing!
