Here it is: www.thrillnetwork.com/stories_view.php/978/interview_walter_bolliger.html "I think we need to be careful in the design," Bolliger said. "We need to have something very well balanced. What's important is good balance and the ride experience. I think there is still a lot which can be done with coaster design."
-
^Exactly. Does B&M need to come up with new ideas or do other companies need to hold the phone? I have to side with Walter Bolliger on this with what he said in his interview with Thrillnetwork and that there is still so much to be done with what they already have. There are some pretty crazy designs these days, like the 4th dimension, but is it completely necessary yet? I know there are still tons of things I'd like to see B&M do with what they have. If anything, I'd just like to see them play around a little more with launching their coasters.

Ever Wonder what happens to Loose Change?
Scaparri replied to Homer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yeah, when I worked on Millennium Force, we used to try and keep a couple of coins on one of the supports that's really close to the queue, because the guests would see it and try to throw there change on to this support. It was amazing how much money was there at the end of each night. -
How was your park year?
Scaparri replied to Erik Johnson's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The first half of my year was amazing, the second half wasn't so much. In January, I finally made it down to All the Florida Parks (excluding WDW), including Wild Adventures and Magical Midway. All of which were brand new except SeaWorld. You can check out the PTR here:http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=22020&highlight=gihugic In March, I made it out to Vegas. All new credits. In April, I went on a trip to Lake Winnie, SFOG Spring Fling, Carowinds, and Dollywood. All of which I'd never been to before except SFOG. That was the end of my new parks for the year, though. The rest of the year, I hit SFGAm and PKI a few times each. I would have liked it to have been more even, but I can't complain. I still had a heck of a year. My camera broke while in Florida though so I don't have many pictures after that trip. I immediately regret this decision! Ok, so it wasn't that bad after you did it once. -
SFNO/Jazzland Discussion Thread
Scaparri replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Because it's a much better and marketable ride than the Texas Cyclone, especially if you slap it with some nice Batman theming. Heck, take BTR at SFGAm for example. It's been there for 15 years almost and it's still one of the most popular rides at the park. -

I dont... Im all for them improving the coaster vs. it being taken down. I mean yeah it may be a rough one but geesh that doesnt mean it should be dismantled. I say give it the TLC it needs and hope for the best. Jarvis "glad some of yall dont own a themepark!" Morant If they can improve it, then yeah, I'm all about keeping the ride, but I just don't see much of an improvement happening. They are just making the trains lighter to reduce stress on track, which unless they plan on retracking the entire ride to repair whatever damage has already occurred from stress, I don't really see an improvement happening. Maybe I'm wrong though. I hope I am. -

As much as I agree with you that Enchanted Village could use the ride, I just don't see anything big going in there given that the park is for sale. -
Nobody should ever have to outlive their own children.

That is awful Pete, and I'm truly sorry for your loss. -
They have come out with another lousy American Pie sequel! I can't stand overly greedy people. Seriously! The first one was great. The second one was just as good. The third was funny, but probably shouldn't have been made. The fourth and fifth are just flat out ridiculous. Seriously, they are going to taint the first two (or three) movies. It's becoming like The Land Before Time or Home Alone. I'm a little disappointed in Eugene Levy for agreeing to do these last two.

New coaster for Kyongju World
Scaparri replied to thomas2's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^I wouldn't be the least bit surprised. As much as I'd like to see it stay within the SF chain, I just don't really see it happening. -
Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
Scaparri replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It's not going to lose riders because it doesn't hardly have any as it is. The last time I rode SOB was on a busy Saturday in August (that even had a headlining concert that night) and the wait was about 10 minutes. The people of greater Cincinnati have learned. I do. Take the unpopular P.O.S. out and put in something worthwhile. There was a time where I loved this ride, but that was many moons ago. I mean, I really like that they are making an effort to improve this ride, but I guess I just don't really see it getting any better. CF can't even take proper care of the wooden coasters they already have that were once good (i.e. Mean Streak, Ghostrider). How can we think that they will ever improve SOB? It seems to me that when you have a ride this expensive to maintain, and this unpopular, is it not a wise decision to just give it the wrecking ball? It was a good idea gone very bad. -
That's too bad. Is Raymond still being filmed or has it ended?

BTTF or Biff To The Future
Scaparri replied to Leaping La Ronde Boobis's topic in Random, Random, Random
Yeah, no kidding! I bet he's probably forever typecast as a guy like Biff. Those songs are pretty darn funny though, especially the BTTF question song. -
I might recommend taking a long bathroom break or something during Rise Against. They opened for Coheed and Cambria in Cincinnati last Decemeber and are in a dead heat with Fall Out Boy (three years ago) for the worst band I've ever seen live.

This past weekend, the lady and I went to Claddagh, a very small Irish pub chain mainly in the midwest. I got a Murphy's Stout. It was a good strong Irish stout, kind of like a Guinness with not as much bight, but a little sweet with an ever so slight chocolate after taste. It made my taste buds dance. That is some damn fine beer.

Naturally, I'd like to see This replace T2 at SFKK, but that's nothing short of a dream. I'd really like to see them put it in one of the non-flagged parks, like Enchanted Village, Great Escape, or Frontier City. Granted, last I heard, SFAW's Serial Thriller is still sitting in GE's parking lot. I guess we'll see what happens. -
I think it'd be wise to get rid of S:TE, but yeah, the asking price just seems to be a little low. I would expect something more like 750 grand to a mill. Maybe the value goes down considerably due to the maintenance nightmares and the high operating costs.

Scaparri replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^That would be my guess This is fairly disappointing. It was the one smooth part of the ride! I guess you have to do what you have to do to make the ride safe. On another note, I still can't help but wonder if a retracking of the ride with prefab style wood could help out the roughness of the ride... or if that would even be worth a shot. -
No worries! SexyRexy pulled it together. Everybody has their rough periods. Now we can sit back and relax through week 1 of playoffs since our Bears have a bye!

Mr. Freeze to turn RED!
Scaparri replied to adc9787's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Meh, it's odd that they are changing the track to red, but the supports are blue and, far as we know, the trains are still blue. It might not fit perfectly, but it's probably going to look pretty sweet, despite the slight theme contradiction. I mean, look at BDK at SFNE. If I wasn't familiar with it and somebody showed me a picture of the track, I would never guess it would ever be a Batman themed ride. -
What is the craziest thing you've done on a bike?
Scaparri replied to socalMAN123's topic in Random, Random, Random
Ok, so he definitely wins. I guess we can close this thread now. No j/k, but holy freakin' crap. When my bro and I were pretty young, our dad made us wooden ramps and we used to set them up in our driveway or make courses in our backyard... yeah, that lead to lots of cuts, gashs, road rashes, bad wrecks, and even a couple of concussions between the two of us. But damn, was it fun. -
I'm done with finals!

Your Coaster Pal

TheGreatOne and I usually do at least one major coaster trip a year and/or go hang out at some random parks.
