  1. Hmm, I hear people say this all the time. It deserves to die because it's in bad shape right now? Imagine how that would work if applied to humans. I think the place can be re-built to it's former glory, all it needs is a real park manager with brains enough to bring people back and balls large enough to enable him to come to meetings that are about his park. Yeah, but that goes back to my point that nobody is going to do that. Sure, it would be great, but realistically, its just not gonna happen. This park has been hanging by a thread for how long and it still hasn't improved? Unless somebody wants to pump millions of dollars into this (which nobody is going to), its going nowhere. Nobody is going to do it because its a bad business decision. When you have Waldameer not too far away, not to mention Kennywood not too far away, Geauga Lake not too far away, and Cedar Point not too far away, this deteriorating park isn't a smart move no matter how rich you are. Again, I'd love to see it saved, but at some point we just have to face reality.
  2. ^Yeah, but you have to keep in mind that they probably really don't care. Honestly, how many people in the general public go to both BG parks? Probably not a lot. It may sound like a waste of money, but when it comes down to it, its a gimmick. Its a way to draw more people in without making a huge investment on some brand new ride. And plus, given the nature of the ride and that it only has three rows per train, it probably will increase the experience quite a bit, at least in the eyes of the public.
  3. Awesome update guys! Its pretty cool to see just how much they really do in the off season. Hopefully, everything will work out and I'll make it out there this summer.
  4. Yeah, I would definitely agree its not the end all be all coaster, for sure. It just reminds me of the kind of ride I would dream of, so I think of it as being perfect in concept. I just hope it delivers. Not necessarily looking for it to be a new #1. Just hopin' for a stellar ride.
  5. That's great they lowered the admission price, but it still seems a little high when compared to other parks in the chain. Granted, it's a different and less competitive market than some of the others. I read on wikipedia that the Paramount parks get to keep the rights to the movie themed rides for quite a few more years, but I've been hesitant to believe it as guaranteed fact. Since they didn't announce anything about renaming those rides, it makes me think this is indeed true. Has anybody else heard something factual that I might have missed?
  6. ^Yeah, didn't strike me as terribly rough either, but then again, Elissa mentioned it was so bad with the lap bar but an OTSR would have sucked. The ride did strike me as being pretty lame though. Short, slower pace, and a stupid gimmick to start it all out.
  7. Heck... freakin'... yes. Can't wait to see this! It does look more professional, but I don't really care. I'm lookin' forward to it no matter what. A little bit better animation doesn't take away from the humor of the show.
  8. Seriously, not to come off sounding like a fanboy, but as for what I look for in a ride, this looks like the perfect coaster. It has everything... a super steep drop, a high speed launch, what appears to be a few heavy doses of airtime, high banked turns, crazy and intense looking inversions, extremely quick, out-of-control transitions, and even some decent theming. I'm so pumped for this ride. I can't wait to ride it in May. I just hope I don't set myself up too much for anticipointment. Even if it's not as good as I hope, kudos to CP for finally getting off their record kick.
  9. As much as I hate to see a park close, this is one that just seems like it needs to die. From all the reports I've heard, the park is pretty janky, and when you're surviving year to year like this all while you still owe a crap ton of money, it just seems like the park needs put to sleep. Nobody is going to come and invest the millions of dollars needed to revive this park into something profitable.
  10. I've been on Screamin' Delta Demon, Disaster Transport, and La Vibora. Of those, I have to go with Disaster Transport. The pure darkness in portions of the ride really make it intimidating and that last twisting drop in the dark is pretty wild. Of the three, DT feels the most natural. I rode the Screamin' Delta Demon over 10 years ago, so its been a while, but I remember there being a lot of brake sections that really jolted you. La Vibora was just awkward. The cars didn't feel like they were made properly. It was like the car didn't carry enough momentum through the turns or something because it felt like the car was sliding down the banking in every turn.
  11. ^^This isn't R&E's, but here is a POV from the amateur forum: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=25109
  12. So does this mean I had a dysfunctional childhood if I've never even heard of Bedrock City?
  13. Discovery Zone was the poop! I miss that place. Are there any still in existence?
  14. I may be wrong, but I haven't heard anybody say that G-Force wasn't smooth. Just that it was lame and that the restraints hurt when you were upside-down on the lift. I don't know, how about any of you that rode it last year? I actually think this ride looks pretty cool. I've been hoping that the supposed launched coaster that is to go in at Wild Escape will be one like this. It would make sense seeing how they already have the X-car going in from Maurer Sohne.
  15. Impulses have mag brakes that drop into positon after the final launch. My bad. I was somewhat close.
  16. "Champagne Supernova" by Oasis
  17. ^The LIMs double as brakes. They slow them the train down the same way they speed it up.
  18. Yeah, it does. It's a really weak comparison. If you jump out of the train on a coaster, you plummet to the ground. If you jump out of the boat/tube on this water slide, you're still in the water slide. Again, its a water slide. There's no logic for a restraint.
  19. ^^Uhh, I'm not sure where to begin. 1. Its a water slide. 2. These things don't crest the hills very fast at all. 3. They aren't that big. 4. Its a water slide.
  20. It looks pretty awesome! Definitely a nice addition to a relatively pathetic water park.
  21. "Daddy, stop!!" at the top of your lungs on a rough coaster.
  22. Yeah, I tend to have a lot of those. I was desperate to get on Manhattan Express. It looked cool and I wanted to see for myself. It seems that rides are often times bashed pretty hard, and then when you ride it yourself, it doesn't seem nearly as bad as everybody said. Manhattan Express definitely wasn't one of those rides. Viper at SFGAdv was one of those that I really wish I could have tried.
  23. ^Yeah, I guess I should have specified a little more that when they press it, the ride instantly goes. Some of my buddies who worked on Wicked Twister would intentionally push the button around one or two in their "three, two, one..." count down to catch everybody by surprise.
  24. After 20 minutes of playing word/mind games, my calc professor decided to cancel class.
  25. ^I haven't personally used Wicked Twisters controls, but what you described is almost exactly what Millennium Force is like.
